CHAPTER 28: BEAST TAMER VS THE HERO PART 2

It was also not like Arios’ sword has been dulled due to the damage it took ever since the fight started.

To put it simply, I was just able to see through it all now.

When Arios swings his sword, how many steps does he take?

How does he move his gaze when he weaves in and out of his feints?

What patterns exist when he wants to strike a deadly blow?

It took me about five minutes since the fight started to actually obtain and analyze all that information.

There was nothing more that I wouldn’t know about Arios’s sword skills.

I have already memorized all of his attack patterns.

That’s why Arios’s attacks would never hit me.

「GUGEH!?」

I avoided one more sword slash of Arios and sensing the opening, I kicked him straight to the face.
With each blow, I would put even more power into the next blow, fully utilizing the enhanced physical strength that the contract with the Cat Spirit Tribe granted me.

As expected, with each consecutive blow Arios was accumulating damage that could no longer be ignored even by his enhanced endurance, and Arios’s legs started to wobble.

「Why…… Why, why, WHY!? Why aren’t my attacks connecting!? Why is it that only your attacks hit me!? Isn’t that strange!? It’s impossible! Absolutely unbelievable! Inconceivable!! God fucking damn it……! It’s as if…… you were better than me…… a mere Beast Tamer…… Better than the Hero……!!」　

「I mean, this basically proves that even a mere Beast Tamer is better than you.」

Arios then suddenly moved out of my range and sheathed his sword.

Arios might be impulsive, but he is not stupid.

He must have reluctantly admitted that he can’t beat me in close quarters combat, no matter how badly it would hurt his pride.

「With this, I will turn you into a pile of charcoal…… “GIGAVOLT”!!」

In the next moment, a bolt of lightning magic was released from Arios’ hand.

Like a hungry beast, the lightning strike extended towards me in a straight line.

I threw myself to the side at the last possible moment in order to avoid it.

And when it landed on the ground.

「“GIGAVOLT”!!!!」

Aiming for a time window when I would be unable to avoid his attack, Arios once again unleashed a thunderbolt magic in my direction.

「“Fireball”!!」

If that’s how he wanted to play, then I was going to counterattack with magic as well.

Even though it was going to be a beginner level magic vs advanced level magic.

Normally, the other side would be the winner for sure.

However, that was a Fireball enhanced with Tanya’s Magic Power.

It seems that it could be very well used as a shield, and it canceled out the Arios’s lightning magic.

「W-What the hell……!? How is this even possible! My very own magic, the magic that only Heroes can use, was offset by some mere elementary magic!? Just like that!? Shit! Shit! SHIT! What the hell is going on here, you filthy mongrel……!!!」

「There is actually a really sound explanation for this, but I have to reason or obligation to explain it to you.」

「You little shit……!!」

Arios stared at me with fury in his eyes, his fists clenched so tightly that they almost bled.

But then, a nasty smirk quickly returned to his lips.

「Still, that doesn’t change the fact that I have the advantage here! The only spells that you can use are Fireball and Heal, right?　I’m not as good as Rin is when it comes to magic, but I can use a good amount of spells from all types. How long will you be able to block my attacks with just beginner level magic, I wonder?

What Arios said here was basically correct.

No matter how much Magic Power I have, it would be difficult to prevent Arios’s onslaught of magic attacks with only the power of beginner level spells of my own.

The only chance I could have for winning would be to bring the battle to a close in close quarters, but Arios knew about it, too, and he would never give me that kind of chance.

However, he’s mistaken about one thing.

The fact that he thinks that I am going to honorably engage him in magic battle for as long as he wants to do it.

Arios’s whole body shook and trembled.

His entire body began to spasm and convulse.

He couldn’t stand properly and fell to the ground where he stood.

I walked over to the fallen Arios.

「You…… You sneaky, little…… What did you to me……!?」

「I do believe that I have mentioned it to you all before, didn’t I? That I can use insects , too. And I remember that you laughed at me and said it wouldn’t do me any good.」

「What the…… hell does that…… have to do…… with this…… situation……!?」

「This thing right here.」

I then picked a small bee clinging to Arios’s neck with my fingertips and showed it to him.

「This little fella here is Earl Bee. It’s a bee that utilizes paralytic poison to render its prey immobile.」

「Wha……?」

「If I told you that I contracted this little guy while we were exchanging blows and then had it sting you when you were wide open, would you be able to understand that?」

If I was my old self, it would have been impossible for me to make a temporary contract while fighting.

But now that I made a contract with Tanya and my Magic Power has increased exponentially, it was something that was in the realm of possibility.

While moving around, he simultaneously sent thought waves like waves in all directions to search the situation around him.

「So, does that mean that you want to keep going……?」

「W-Wait! Wait, wait, wait! I yield…… I surrender! I…… GYAAAH!?」

Before he could say anything more, my fist clammed right next to Arios.

It was a full force blow, without holding anything back.

Arios was blown away, rolling on the ground and finally stopped as he crashed into a tree trunk.

He seems to be completely unconscious and would not move, not even an inch.

I then moved away from Arios and looked up at the clear and blue sky.

「Phew!」

Just like that, I was able to defeat Arios with my own two hands.

Some people say that revenge is a vain effort……

But honestly, right about now I couldn’t disagree more.

Because I felt incredibly refreshed right now.

「I know that I probably won’t get an opportunity like that again anytime soon, so maybe I should have bashed his face in some more? Just for the heck of it?」
