Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 32 Part 1

CHAPTER 32: PERSUASION PART 1

「Leave, and never come back.」

For the time being, I decided to go back to the Spirit Tribe’s girl dwelling.

As expected, she just gave me a cold look and repeated the same line as the last time.

「Please wait. Before I do that, I really need to talk to you for a moment.」

「Leave, and never come back.」

「It’s nothing personal, really. It’s just that I want to talk to you, that’s all.」

「Leave, and never come back.」

「Just a little bit. This will only take a moment. Can you please listen to me?」

「Leave, and never come back.」

As expected, just like the last time, the conversation wasn’t really going anywhere.

However, as opposed to the last time, this time around I am not going to give up all that easily.

「We did not come here to raid the forest or destroy it. We just want to deal with the monster that is probably dwelling in the center of this place.

「Leave, and never come back.」

「I promise, as soon as we get the item that monster is holding in its possession, we are going to leave right away. But in order to do that, we need to continue onward to the center of the forest. There’s no turning back for us now」.

「If you are not going to leave……」

The girl of the Spirit Tribe once again shifted her stance into that of an imminent attack.

But this time around I won’t give up, no matter what.

Because I’m a Beast Tamer.

I have tamed many different animals throughout my relatively short career.

And in order to do that, sometimes things would get really violent, so it’s something that you have come to anticipate at some point in time, but……

Basically, discussion is the thing that it all boils down to.

So, I was really hoping that my words would be able to reach that girl no matter what.

It was the one and only thought that I was going to bet on here.

「If you really want to attack me, then fine. Just do it.」

「N-Nyah!?」

「H-Hey, Rein!?」

Both Kanade and Tanya, who were standing behind me, went into a panic upon hearing that declaration of mine. However, I only nodded my head at them, as if to tell them that everything was going to be alright.

I looked at the Spirit Tribe girl again and met her gaze directly, without avoiding it.

I stared at her as if to tell her that she has nothing to worry about and that no one is going to cause her any harm.

「I swear that we are not going to do anything to you.」

「……………」

「We are not going to attack you. And if you choose to attack us, we are not going to fight back.」

「……………」

「We really mean no harm to you, please trust us on that. And of course, we didn’t come here to destroy the forest or anything like that. But you’ll just have to trust us on that.」

「Proceeding to eliminate threats. “Illusion Arrow”!」

The girl said in a cold voice and shot a magical arrow my way.

An arrow weaved out of Magic Power grazed my cheek and fresh blood started to slowly pour out of the wound.

…… But that was pretty much it.

There was no way that she would miss a clear shot like that. Not from this distance. And besides…… she only fired once. The second shot never came.

「…… Why?」

The Spirit Tribe girl spoke up, her voice clearly being tainted with agitation.
For the first time since she revealed herself to us, we could hear some sort of emotion permeating her voice.

「I warned you that I was going to attack you. So why didn’t you run away……? Why didn’t you…… fight back…… at all……?」

「I told you.　I didn’t come here to fight you. I just want to talk to you. That’s all.」

「Even if it means getting hurt in the process?」

「I don’t mind getting hurt at all. If that’s all it takes, that is.」

「……………」

「Oh, but just to let you know, both Kanade and Tanya…… I would really appreciate it if you did not turn your wrath towards them. If you really want to hurt somebody here, then please hurt me in their stead.」

「…… I don’t understand. Are you really a human being?　The same one who robbed us of our homes so greedily, vandalized nature and trampled on anything that they could get their hands on?」

「Yes, the very same human being.」

「……………」

「It’s just that…… This is really going to sound like an excuse, but not all humans are like that, you know? There are good people out there, too. I can’t really tell you if I am a good human or not, but at the very least I don’t mean to hurt you. So, do you think you could trust me a little bit on that one?」

「…… Sora will not be misled by sweet words ever again.」

Once again, Magic Power started to converge in the girl’s small hand.

And the sheer amount of it was incomparable to the previous attack.

Does that mean that…… I’m basically dead?

But still, there is no way that I am going to retreat.

I have to prove to her with my body that my words are true.

I don’t have to run away from that blow. I just have to accept her magic as it is……

「「Rein!」」

Kanade and Tanya stepped forward to cover for me.

「What are you two doing……!? You promised to leave it to me!」

「B-But that’s because…… I can’t just sit and watchI Just watching things unfold makes me really nervous!」

「Someone comes to you and wants to talk to you, and that is how you respond to someone else’s goodwill!? Just how unreasonable can you really get!?」

「Rein is not a bad person! Please, you have to believe us!」

「Kanade is right!　I, being a Dragon Tribe, can personally vouch for him! So how about you stop this madness and listen to us for a moment!」

What followed was a long moment of nothing but silence.

And soon after that…… The Magic Power slowly dissipated from the girl’s hand.

「…… You are weird, human. And that Cat Spirit Tribe and Dragon Tribe accompanying you are also weird. This is the first time that Sora has encountered such strange beings like the three of you.」

In that moment, all the hostility was gone from the girl of the Spirit Tribe.

She gently landed on the ground and walked over to me.

She stopped in front of me and looked up at my face.

「…… What’s your name, human?」

「Rein. Rein Shroud.」

「…… Sora is Sora.」

「So that’s your name, huh?」

「For the time being, I am going to listen to what you have to say. Please to meet you, Rein.」
