CHAPTER 41: THE PROMISED HAPPENING PART 2
「Then here is what we want you to do to atone……」
「…… *Gulp*.」
「「Just do and act the way that you have always done!」」
「…… Huh? Excuse me?」
The moment I was confronted with their demand, it turned out to be something that I was quite unable to comprehend right away.
Now, even though they said that they want me to do and act in the same way that I have always done until now……
What does that even mean, exactly?
「It was a very embarrassing experience to have been seen like that, you know, Rein? Nyaah, I’m starting to get red in the face again from even remembering that.」
「I would like to give you a taste of my Fire Breath or two as punishment, but I actually know that you did not have any ill intentions out there. You did that from genuine concern about us, so we are not exactly in the position to complain or berate you for that, even if we really wanted to.」
「So, we were thinking about it and talking amongst ourselves, and we figured out that since it is you that we are talking about, you’d probably think that you did something horrible to us and you wouldn’t know how to act or behave around us, right?」
「If you end up blaming yourself like that for what happened, it only makes us feel really weird and a little bit guilty. So, umm…… this was actually an accident, so I don’t really think that you are the one at fault here, Rein.」
「Besides, we would really rather not have a rift between us and you because of something like that. Quite the opposite, we would like to see things go the way they always have between us all.」
I can’t help but to roll my eyes at the verdict I wasn’t quite expecting to hear.
Of course, I am really happy that they both said that, but……
「No, but, I mean…… No matter what the process was, it resulted in me seeing you all…… Well, no matter how you try to look at it, it was as if I was peeping on you……」
「You see, Sora…… doesn’t really mind. It was…… nothing.」
「Even though you looked pretty upset and flustered out there, sister dearest?」
「Luna, you seriously need to learn to keep that mouth of yours shut in situations like that.」
「Roger that!」
「Ekhm!」
As if to rejoin the conversation, Sora coughed lightly and cleared her throat.
Once again, she looked me in the eyes and spoke up after a brief moment of pause.
「Sora understands that Rein didn’t have any malicious intentions behind his actions. After what happened, well, umm, I mean……… T-That kind of thing… being seen…… it’s really embarrassing, but…….but it’s just like Kanade said, I don’t want this to be the reason for the distance between us and Rein needlessly growing.」
「I completely agree with Sora! Don’t beat yourself up about it, Rein. Think of it as an accident. Or consider yourself lucky.」
「Luna, please shut up and don’t add fuel to the fire.」
「Roger that!」
「It’s a conclusion we reached earlier after discussing it between us. So, Rein shall continue to do what he used to do and act the way he did…… without feeling strangely guilty towards us. Is that alright with you?」
「Umm, sure, but…… Are you really sure about this? I think we all have a right to be angry in general in that kind of situation…… Why do you forgive me so easily?」
「Oh, it was not that easy, you can believe it. It was really embarrassing and it made my heart all tingly inside of my chest…… You know how it is said that a maiden’s heart is a complicated thing, right? But still.」
Kanade chuckles.
All the while looking a little embarrassed.
「I’m sure that if it’s you, Rein…… It’s probably okay.」
Kanade ended up saying something like that.
「As for me, well, you know…… See? I’m a Dragon Tribe, remember? So it’s not that I care all that much about humans being able to see me naked, since I used to think it would be like being looked at by a small bug…… But just to let you know, if any other human was to do something like that to me, I would burn him to cinders right away. Without hesitation.
So, is it good or is it bad…… which is it? Because I am honestly confused here.
「When it comes to Sora, umm…… Sora wants to exercise her right to remain silent……」
「I think that what my dear sister is trying to say here is that it did not feel all that unpleasant to her. And by the way, I think the same way!」
「Luna!」
「Uwah, talk about scary…… Time to bail!」
「So, I guess that this is it, then…… We are officially done with this topic!」
「Yeah, yeah, that’s right! Now, do you want to take a dip in the water, too, Rein? You’re sweating quite a lot, too. You’ll see! You’ll feel so much better after a nice bath! And a whole lot cleaner, too!」
「So, does that mean this will be our turn to sneak a little peak at Rein ourselves? Yes, I get it. I really understand why we would want to do that.」
「No! We are ABSOLUTELY not doing that!」
And just like that, the atmosphere in our party came back to what it was before, with everyone acting in their usual way.
What can I say here…… It honestly makes me want to laugh.
I was ready for the party to fall apart and everyone going their respective way the moment I happened to accidentally see all of them naked like that……
But I guess that in the end it was just some unfounded fear of mine, and nothing else.
Everyone was laughing at this whole situation, including Kanade, as if that was impossible to happen, no matter what.
No, umm, well…… Be that as it may, it still doesn’t make up for the mistake I made right there…….
I need to reflect on this more and more and make sure that something like that won’t end up happening in the future ever again.
「…… Alright, I understand. It might be a bit difficult for me at first, but I’ll try to be as conscious about it as possible, and I’ll do my best to act normally, the way that I have always done until now.」
「Nyaah! Good luck, Rein! You can do it! I believe in you!」
「But you’d better remember: since this is a punishment that we are talking about, you have to make sure that you’ll do it properly, alright?」
「When it comes to me, since you have already apologized in earnest, I need no further apology. It wouldn’t sit right with me.」
「But you know, now we know that whenever Rein is alone for some “relaxation” time, he’s always going to be thinking back on this moment and imagine at least one of us, right? Fufufu.」

How come that I would ever think that our party would fall apart because of a silly reason like that?
Maybe ever since that Arios incident I have become more than a little bit paranoid?
Just like everyone else has their trust in me, I need to have my trust in them as well.
Reflecting on that thought a little bit, I once again thanked fate for being able to meet everyone like we did.
