Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 46 Part 1

CHAPTER 46: FOOTSTEPS OF COLLAPSE PART 1

Arios and his group were still staying in Horizon for the time being.

Now that they had obtained the Shield of Truth, they had no use for this city at all.

They had to head to the next city to continue their journey to defeat the Demon Lord.

However, there was still something that they were lacking. Something really crucial for the continuation of their journey.

Traveling the world and fighting the Demon Lord’s forces is not something that generates you a steady source of income in and out of itself, and the costs of doing just that could be really big. Which is why an enormous amount of money was provided to them every month for any of their possible expenses.
.
When it comes to various supplies and daily necessities, such as equipment, food and water, it was something that could be easily procured locally, as long as they would say to add the expense to the Hero’s tab.

But what the Hero’s Party was lacking right now, was human resources.

With Rein leaving their Party, there was no one to support Arios and the others from the shadows, like the Beast Tamer used to do.

There was no one to carry their food and water that would be willing to do so in huge amounts for a reasonably small compensation.

There was no one who would scout the roads and paths ahead, creating maps for them to use.

There was no one to negotiate with the people of the city and get good lodgings for them for a reasonable price.

…… And the list would just go on and on and on like that.

With Rein being kicked out of the Party, all sorts of chores arose for them to take care of. Chores that normally were being done by a single person.

Normally, those things would have been something that Arios and the other would have to do on their own……

However, when it comes to Arios and his companions, the people who had an overly strong sense of being the Chosen Ones, seriously believed that doing such chores was not something they should be doing on their own at all.

Hence, they tried to bring Rein back to the Party to have all that covered, but…… they obviously failed at that.

So instead, they decided to find a replacement for the Beast Tamer.

They asked the Adventurers’ Guild to place a notice on the bulletin board that the Hero’s Party was currently recruiting new members.

The effect that this action had was excellent, exceeding their wildest expectations.

Hearing that there was a chance for them to become a part of the legendary Hero’s Party, many people applied for the position and came for the audition.

The actual number of people gathered in front of the inn where the Hero’s Party was staying was indeed several dozen.

As expected, they couldn’t take them all in, because as they said to Rein, they didn’t want some weaklings to slow them down on their journey.

Arios and the others would have to interview those people and carefully select the new members of their Party, however……

「You’re disqualified.」

In the provisional interview room, which was held in a rented room at the inn where they were staying at, Arios coldly told the Adventurer who came to the interview. that he was not cut out for the job.

That Adventurer was a Beast Tamer, just like Rein was.

His abilities were high and he could tame not only animals, but also lower level monsters as well.

The man knew that he was going to be behind the Party level-wise, and he had almost completed all of the conditions that Arios and the others were giving him.

However………

「If you can’t fight on your own once your tamed beasts are out of commission, then what’s the point of us hiring a dead weight such as you?」

「B-But that’s just what Beast Tamers do…… That’s how we are and the role that we play in the party…… B-Besides, if they are down, I can always tame some more monsters!」

「Then, how many monsters can you use at once? For example, can you tame the member of the Ultimate Species, instead of a regular beast or monster?」

「P-Please, you cannot be serious. There is no way that an ordinary person would ever be able to tame, and much less use, a member of the Ultimate Species. Now, even if you talk about such an impossible thing as a purely hypothetical scenario……」

「Well then, that just means that you’re not as good as him.」

「Him? Who are you talking about……?」

「Even if you could tame some more beasts, it means that it would take you time to bring them under your control. And what do you want us to do in the meantime? Cover for you? That, and are the beasts that you are going to tame really be of use to us? You cannot possibly guarantee us that, can you? Besides, you said that you can only tame a single beast at once, right? So, if you tame a beast that is suited for combat, then what is going to happen to our supply line? Will you yourself be able to take care of it? Will you carry around all of our food and water and various other luggage? Because if you say that you can do that just fine, then we are more than happy to welcome you on board.」

「Ugh……」

「What we’re looking for is someone who can, at the very least, fight on their own, and yet still provide proper logistical support to our Party at all times. You do not meet those requirements. Therefore, you are disqualified.」

The man had nothing to say in response to Arios’ harsh words.

He just slumped his shoulders and left the room without saying a single word.

「Goodness gracious…… All of those people are utterly useless.」

Arios clicked his tongue as he couldn’t seem to control his irritated emotions any longer.

As a matter of fact, the man who had just been disqualified was very well suited to support Arios and the others.

He could even tame a wild bear and use it to carry their provisions and belongings, something that Rein was also able to quite easily do.

Furthermore, the man was a good talker and a good negotiator when it comes to other people.

But Arios and the others weren’t satisfied with those traits alone.

Rein could fight on his own, at least to an extent.

At least, he could protect himself during the battle and not be that much of a burden to everyone else.

It was one of his very few redeeming qualities.

That kind of awareness was working to their disadvantage here, however, as they couldn’t help it but to compare every candidate to Rein, lowering their chances significantly.

Now, even though they were comparing the candidates to Rein, there was no way that they themselves would ever admit it. That would be simply preposterous.

After continuing the interviews in such a manner for a little while longer…….
