「There was never such a thing as a bond of “trust” between Arios and I, and the same thing could be said for the other members of the Hero’s Party. What we had in common was a shared cause that was always followed by conflicting interests of every single member of that party…… When I take a look back and think about it carefully, it was truly an empty party with nothing going on for it. All show, but no substance to it.」

「A party built solely on the common cause but nothing more……」

「It is something completely different from what we have going on for ourselves.」
「Now that I think about it, maybe I was also partially to blame for the atmosphere that we had going on in that party. All because I couldn’t really bring myself to trust in Arios and the others. As far as everyone there were concerned, THEY were the great Heroes, and I was only a helpless Beast Tamer. And somewhere deep down inside I might have thought that there will come a day when they would say that they no longer need me and throw me away, and I was afraid of that. 「If only I had trusted Arios and the others with all my heart. if only I had put my trust in them…… Then who knows? Maybe things would have ended up differently than they did?」

「That’s just…… No, Rein, you are not the one who is in the wrong here. We might not know the exact details of your past and circumstances that led to it, all because we only met each other recently…… but I had a very bad feeling about that human. Even if Rain had trusted him, I think he still would have betrayed you.」

「I completely agree with my sister on this one. Those humans are just blind and stupid. Rein, you are a good man who is worthy of trust, but those guys surely are not. But just because they are bad doesn’t mean that you should feel bad about yourself.」

In response to my words, the twin Spirit Tribe sisters sung me praises in similar words and then smiled brightly at me.

At the current moment, we might be a temporary party, the one that is united by a common cause but not yet by the bonds of genuine “trust”.

But one day, no matter when that day might come…… Will will become one, for sure……

With that optimistic thought in my mind, we continued to walk forward.

Our thoughts will surely come together at some point, the same way as our paths crossed and came together.

「By the way, Rein.」

「Yes? What is it?」

「All of that serious talk just now made me feel really hungry. I think that it is high time for us to grab ourselves something to eat.」

「Say what now? You just had a hot dog to eat fairly recently…… Seriously though! What is going on with that bottomless pit of a stomach of yours, Luna!?」

「That’s not nearly enough. That was only a snack. Now I crave something heartier than that!」

「Haha. Well, in that case, let’s go and have ourselves some lunch. But first, let’s go back to the inn and pick up Kanade and Tania. I think that they had more than enough sleep for now.」
