Edgar then turned his gaze away from us three and looked elsewhere…… And then I realized it. All over the place where we were, multiple soldiers were scattered around, pointing their swords at the people who were just standing idly by and watching what was going on.

「Here’s what I’m going to do: if you put up any more resistance than you already had, these guys will be punished in your stead. How does that sound?」

「What……!?」

「Hmm, now I see. Well, you’ve certainly got the power. Let’s give credit where credit is due. You are strong. Really strong. But you see, this world is not such an easy and forgiving place that you can win every single fight and conflict by the use of brute force alone. This is only one way out of many to fight. And this? This is the other, more clever one!」

「Are you out of your mind! Stop screwing around! Are you really going to get the innocent people involved in this!? Just because you are losing and won’t be able to win any other way!? What kind of a stupid and deranged tactic is that!? They have nothing to do with this!」

「If it really is just like that and they have nothing to do with this, then you can just do whatever the hell you want, no? When it comes to me, I certainly don’t mind and will do whatever the hell I please. This will only mean that some plebeian blood is going to be spilled, that’s all.」

「Are you being serious right now!? Those are your people that you’re talking about!」

「Oh, I am serious, believe me. Besides, those people are only as good as tools to me. And tools are meant to be used in whatever way I see fit. Also, why would I ever concern myself with the well-being of my tools? They are only meant to serve their purpose, that’s all.」

Edgar’s words and attitude were not consumed by madness of any sort.

There was still a light of rationality that could be seen in his eyes.

In other words, this type of behavior was something that this man would consider to be perfectly normal……

This man turns out to be one heck of a troublesome opponent.

It would be one thing if he was crazy and consumed by madness. But no, that was not the case here. He seriously thought that. So what normal people would consider to me mad-like state was his default state, it would seem.

In a really twisted way, that was making him even worse than a blood-hungry demon from the Demon Lord’s army.

「Now then, hand me those women already. I’ll be sure to whip them into shape really good as punishment for your transgressions against me.」

No way. Are you actually being serious here?

After all that you have done here, there is no way that I am going to just let you walk away from this place in one piece. It would seem that he was long overdue for a beating of his life.

Now, I don’t really care what is going to happen to me.

However, I absolutely cannot let this guy get away with this. Threatening both Sora and Luna…… and worse yet, toying with the lives of the people who are supposed to be his subjects.

But that also doesn’t mean that I’m going to leave all those innocent people behind and let them be hurt because of me.

We have to get them out of here and get them to safety. But just how we are supposed to do it is an entirely different matter……

Not to mention our opponent is not a single one, but multiple ones. This complicates things even further.

What complicates things EVEN further is the fact that the soldiers were scattered all over the place, placed in different positions and at a fairly large distance from one another.

If I were to just go and do this the way I would normally tackle a problem like that, I could take down one or maybe two of them, but that means that in the meantime all the other soldiers would have hurt the other civilians.

「…… Hey, Rein.」

「Would you like us to take care of this situation?」

Sora and Luna got closer to me while whispering softly into my ears, in a voice that only I would be able to hear.

「I mean, that would be great, but…… Can you actually do something about this?」

「…… Sora and Luna are both members of the Spirit Tribe. And when it comes to Spirit Tribe, Magic is our forte, remember? Not only can they handle multiple advanced and complex spells at once, but we also possess a number of special Magic-related skills that further boost our magic abilities.」

「…… And guess what? We have just the skill that can be of good use here if we use it just right. It’s a skill called “Continuous Chanting”. It’s a skill that allows the user to use more than one spell at a time. With this, we can hit all of those soldiers at once and save those people!」

However, if you really want us to name something, I would say that a huge demerit here would be that we would have to expose our identities as Spirit Tribe members if we were to use it. Because, you know, Spirit Tribe members have to manifest their wings in order to cast spells and use magic. 「…… So there you have it. Also, the skill and multiple spells need a fair amount of concentration to be maintained in order to cast them one after another. So while we are going to be doing that, we would really appreciate it if you could protect us from any danger that might come our way, Rein.」

If possible, I would like to avoid creating that kind of unnecessary commotion, especially if Sora and Luna were going to be right in the center of it.

Besides, what would happen if it was discovered by the people that both Sora and Luna were the members of the Spirit Tribe?
