Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 57 Part 1

CHAPTER 57: IN A LIMITED AMOUNT OF TIME PART 1

Once we were all done with restraining the captured corrupt members of the Knights Order, we rejoined the rest of our party who were waiting for us just outside of the warehouse.

As for the knights themselves, we took away their weapons and armor, and tied them all up to one another so that they could not move and even think about getting away from here.

With this, we were able to round up all of the corrupt knights who were connected to bribes and covering up the Lord’s actions.

The first step of our plan was a resounding success.

「Rain!」

When I walked out of the warehouse, Stella, who had been giving her subordinates orders for various things connected with bringing the corrupt knights to justice, turned around and saw me approaching.

And then, she once again bowed down her head to me.

「Thank you very much. It is thanks to you and your companions that we were able to get the Knights Order rid of the pus that was festering inside of it. And now that we have properly neutralized them, not only we can conduct some background checks on them, but we can also launch a proper investigation on the Lord himself. And I am sure that this investigation will discover a mountainload of evidence that we will be able to use against the Lord. Thanks to that, the legitimacy of our claims and charges will be fully proved. Once again, you have my deepest gratitude for allowing us to do that.」

「It’s way too early to be thanking anyone for anything. Before we can do that, we need to make sure that we will do something about the Lord himself.」

Yes, we managed to round up and capture all of the corrupt members of the Knights Order, but……

The original culprit, the Lord himself, was still out there, enjoying his freedom and continuing his heinous acts.

If we were to leave him in peace after managing to accomplish so much today, it was only a matter of time before the same thing would end up happening once again.

For the time being, we were able to restore the Knights Order back to how it should be.

But what should we do next? What should our next move be?

That was actually really simple: all we had to do was to raid the Lord’s mansion and seize any proof of his wrongdoings.

Now that the Knights Order was back to what they should be, they would not interfere in the ongoing investigation, which means that the Lord wouldn’t be let off the proverbial hook so easily.

Who knows? Maybe we would even be able to help out those people who happened to be forcefully taken to the Lord’s mansion.

To add to the bribery charges, it seems that the Lord was also involved in many other evil dealings and crimes.

By seizing the evidence that would serve as confirmation of that fact, and handing them over to the Inspector from the Royal Capital, we could finally be able to put a stop to the Lord’s evil, at the very least for as long as the investigation would still be underway.

However, we couldn’t take too much time just sitting around and twiddling our thumbs.

If we were to take our sweet time with the preparations for the raid, there was always a possibility that the Lord would have the time to destroy all of the evidence that he had stored away at the mansion.

I’m also worried about the safety of the people who were taken away by Edgar and his lackeys.

From here on out, it was basically going to be a huge race against time for us.

So we had to make sure that we would move as quickly as possible here.

Stella seemed to understand that and her expression quickly turned into a stern and serious one.

「The Lord’s ability to gather information is something that cannot be underestimated here. I’m sure that our actions here are going to reach his ears pretty soon.」

「Then this is all the more reason for us to hurry up and proceed with our plan.」

「Yes, that’s right. If I could, I would like to be part of the raiding party as well, but……」

Stella glanced at the warehouse really quick.

Inside of the warehouse, the captured former knights were all locked up and awaiting their fate.

「I’m afraid that we absolutely cannot leave those guys unattended…… It would make us look really bad and unprofessional if we let them escape after just having captured them, wouldn’t you agree? Ngh, what should I do here?」

「Oh, if you are concerned about that, then you actually don’t need to worry.」

「Hm? What do you mean?」

「The poison of this particular butterfly is not something that leaves one’s system all that easily, you know? If I had to give a raw estimate here…… Yeah, I do believe that those guys won’t be able to move even an inch, and much less leave the warehouse, for the duration of the night.」

「O-Oh, that’s convenient. But still, wouldn’t it be wise to at least leave someone here to watch over those guys, just in case?」

「Oh well, then how about we leave the lookout duty to those guys and move on…… Hey! Come here!」

I then called out to several wild dogs that were lurking on the warehouse’s premises and tamed them.

I told them to watch the perimeter of the warehouse and scattered them all over the place.

「Alright. I have instructed the dogs to watch the warehouse and its premises. Now we won’t have to worry about any knights trying to make a run for it.」

「……………」

「…… Hm? Is there something wrong, Stella? You’re staring into space really intensely right now.」

「No, I mean, it’s just that…… Rein are you really just a normal Beast Tamer? I have been thinking for a while now, but those butterflies earlier, and the wild dogs just now…… You seem to be very different from all the other Beast Tamers that I know of.」

「Well, let me tell you something, Lady. If you are going to be surprised and astonished by this much, then you are not going to handle being around Rein all that much.」

「Oh yes, that’s right. The best thing that you can do here is to just learn to accept things as they happen as reality. That way, you are going to gradually get used to it and build at least SOME level of resistance.」

Kanade and Tanya interrupted the conversation from the side and said something like that completely out of the blue.

「I-Is that so? Could it be that…… Rein can perform even more amazing feats than this?」

「Nyah! That’s right!」

「I also wouldn’t be surprised if he was still hiding some sort of amazing power that we have no idea about in his sleeve.」

「Hey now, I would really appreciate it if you were not talking about normal people as if they were some kind of mysterious animals.」
