Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 58 Part 2
CHAPTER 58 PART 2
How is it even possible to lose to someone when you overpower them so much, both in terms of sheer numbers, firepower and resources?
Thinking alongside those lines, Edgar started to organize the galloping thoughts inside of his head……
However, it was not all that long after he started doing that that he managed to reach a certain conclusion.
「…… No, being overly optimistic here is going to get me nowhere. In the end, I need to assume that the contents of that report are actually correct. After all, just because I think that something is impossible, it does not necessarily mean that it IS impossible. On the contrary, it’s thinking like that that makes those things more and more true.
Edgar’s thoughts then drifted towards the young knight known as Stella.
It’s not that he did not know who she was. He has met her once before, and even chatted with her lightly when he went to visit the Knights Order Branch Office under the guise of some official matters.
Needless to say, his impression of her was not the positive one: she was rather inflexible, believed that knights should be just and right no matter what, and was a foolish woman in Edgar’s eyes, through and through.
Now, with the vast majority of the knights being incarcerated, what would happen if that Stella woman was appointed the Acting Knight Commander of the Horizon Branch?
She would no doubt mobilize the freshly reformed Knights Order so that they could carry out a legitimate audit on the Lord and himself.
And unfortunately enough, this place was filled to the brim with things that normal people would never even suspect to find in a place like this.
And just to be clear on that notion, those were not only the things that were connected to Edgar’s actions exclusively.
There was also proof of his father’s, the Lord’s, embezzlement of public funds, illicit use of private money, bribes, and so on and so forth.
If the current, reformed Order was to lay their eyes on all of that proof, there would be no way in hell for the Lord to be able to weasel his way out of this and avoid the legitimate audit.
After thinking that far ahead, Edgar’s only option was to refuse to believe that it was all in the realm of impossibility.
He was the son of the Lord.
Together with his father, they were the Chosen Ones.
They were not like the other people around them, dirty peasants who had nothing to their name.
He did not care about the way he was treating those below him.
Because in his eyes, as the one above them, those people were all his to do as he wanted.
And yet, this shouldn’t even be happening. It was not right that they should be declared as evil here and have everything taken away from them just because someone below them said so.
It shouldn’t happen. It was going against the natural order.
Edgar was seriously and sincerely thinking thoughts like that, without even thinking that things could be different.
「The easiest solution here would be to simply destroy all of the evidence……」
Edgar also thought back to his prized collection.
These were various treasures he had collected over the years as his father was acting as the Lord of this city.
It would really be a shame to throw them all away because of something like that.
And besides that……
「…… Ugh……」
He cast a quick glance at the girl who was still lying on the ground, whimpering.
Incidentally, she was the member of the so-called Ultimate Species. And by even more of an miracle, he was able to get his hands on her
Edgar, who was only an ordinary human, managed to capture the member of the Ultimate Species, and he was treating her as a mere toy.
Doing something like that was giving him an irresistible pleasure, and was filling his heart with the feeling of ultimate superiority.
Would he even be able to let go of this ultimate sense of superiority?
No, there was no way in hell that he would be able to do that. It only took Edgar a moment to reach that kind of conclusion.
No matter what would happen here, she was the only thing that he could not possibly let go.
If he was to willingly let go of it right now, there was no way that he would ever be able to get his hands on it again.
「And besides…… Realistically speaking, there is no way that we would ever be able to destroy all of the evidence in time or without leaving a trace. And even if I were to dispose of my beloved toys all at once, it would be difficult to dispose of them as if they were simply nothing. Even more so with all of the shady business and illicit activities that Father is suspected to be involved in. No way in hell.」
So no, there is no way in hell that he could get rid of all the evidence.
Then, does that mean that he was going to be caught and tried like some bandit or a villain?
No! No way! That’s impossible!
Edgar strongly refused that notion inside of his mind. There was no way!
「That would mean that someone like me, the Chosen One, would bend the knee and fall before some nameless peasants…… And I absolutely cannot approve of such a thing! Then, does that mean…… That I will have to do IT?」
Edgar was ready to set things up with the Knights Order, even if it meant using force.
That was the conclusion he managed to reach, but it was not something out of pure desperation.
It was the conclusion that he managed to reach after lots and lots of careful consideration and weighing his options.
The current Knights Order was most probably going to be centered around that Stella woman.
So, there was always the option of getting rid of Stella and instilling Gilet back onto his position as the Knight Commander.
But honestly, the one to become the new Knight Commander did not necessarily have to be Gilet. Anyone would do here, as long as they would be loyal and obedient to the Lord and Edgar.
It did not really matter how he would choose to deal with the current Knight Order, as long as he would be able to get his hands on them and in the end bring things back to how they used to be before that annoying purge of tonight came to pass. And the details…….? Who cares about those?
So to make the long story short, all he had to do here was to win the next battle. That was all that he needed.
Unfortunately, or fortunately in this particular case, Edgar had a private military force on standby for just that kind of occasion.
As for their exact number, there were one hundred mercenaries.
Furthermore, those were not your plain and ordinary mercenaries. Each and every single one of them was comparable in strength and ability to B-rank Adventurers.
