Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 65 Part 1
CHAPTER 65: KANADE’S BATTLE PART 1
Kanade held her fists up against the two mercenaries who were approaching her without the slightest hint of caution.
She was facing two opponents at the same time.
One of them was a warrior who carried a huge shield in his hands and was wearing heavy armor all over his body.
The other looked like a Wizard of some sort, holding onto a long staff in his hands.
The warrior stood in front of the wizard at all times, as if trying to shield him from the possible danger and damage.
After confirming that the protective wall in front of him has been built, the wizard began to chant his spells almost right away.
So what we needed to do here was to make the first move, before the Wizard would be done with his chanting.
And so Kanade chose a plan on a hunch and charged right in.
「Unyan!」
「Oohh!! Oohh!! Ooohhh!!」
Kanade and the warrior clashed with a tremendous impact.
The Cat Spirit Tribe’s flurry of attacks is really powerful, making it almost as potent as the mightiest of the siege weapons.
Even though her opponent was equivalent in strength to a B-rank Adventurer, he was still just an ordinary human.
As expected of Kanade, she was probably pulling her punches to some extent, but even so, it goes without saying that every single one of her punches would pack the strength that would be equivalent to being hit with a sledgehammer.
But even though that blow was really powerful…… The Warrior still managed to tank and endure it.
「Guh…… As expected of the Ultimate Species! That packed quite a punch! I’ll give you that! Not bad!」
「You are not half-bad yourself, you know!」
Kanade was genuinely surprised here.
Even though she was holding back quite a bit, she still did not expect that this armor-clad human would be able to take one of her blows head on and be left standing.
She thought back to the time when she happened to fight against Aggath.
Maybe, this human was as strong as that Hero’s companion.
But if it was indeed like that, then this could get really troublesome really quick.
And since she was holding back as to not rough him up all that much, this could take even longer to settle than she would have anticipated.
So Kanade tried to think about it for a moment or two.
Should she try and stop going easy on this guy, using more or less half of her strength to settle this matter quickly?
It doesn’t seem like she would really need to put all of her power into this fight, but about fifty percent should be more than enough, right? …… No, that’s not it.
But what if reality was something completely different?
Kanade has determined that this Warrior might have been as strong as Aggath was, but it was just a hunch, something that her intuition as a Cat Spirit Tribe was telling her.
So maybe, just to be on the safe side, she should check things out a little bit more. As to not commit a grave mistake.
.
Because if she would make the wrong judgment here, she might have failed in adjusting her strength properly, which would result in her accidentally killing that Warrior, even if that was not her intention.
「Nyah…… This is what I hate the most about those things. It’s so frustrating!」
For the time being, Kanade decided to just clash with the Warrior once more, to sort of test the waters a little bit more.
Kanade made a decision like that and kept a safe distance.
Then his opponent also retreated back, seeing what she was doing.
What could he possibly be thinking, giving her an opportunity to attack like that, leaving himself wide open?
Kanade cocked her head to the side, looking all puzzled.
But it was then that she immediately understood what was going on.
「“Flamewave”!」
The Warrior jumped to the side and……
…… Right after that, the Wizard behind him unleashes an Intermediate Level magic in an instant.
The Cat Spirit Tribe is the Ultimate Species that specializes in purely physical attacks, so there are less than few other races and creatures out there that could win against them when it comes to a purely physical contest of strength.
They have excellent kinetic vision and overall physical abilities, and once they go on the offensive, there is little that could be done to avoid or deflect their attack.
And even if they get hit themselves, the damage to their sturdy bodies would be unlikely to actually hurt them, dispersing against their skin and sturdy bones.
But on the other hand, the members of the Cat Spirit Tribe are extremely weak against any kind of magic attacks.
Even the Beginner Level magic attack can end up dealing huge damage to them quite easily.
Not only that, their resistance to any kind of Status Changing magic was also abysmally low, which meant that it was extremely easy to poison or paralyze them.
「Nya, nya, nya, NYAH!?」
Kanade hurriedly jumped to the side and dodged the tsunami of flames at the last possible moment.
The tidal wave of flames that had nowhere to go reaped the mansion’s furniture and various decorations, burning them on the spot and turning them into nothing but charcoal.
If Kanade had suffered a direct hit from such an attack, she was sure that she would have suffered more or less the same fate.
…… Well, not really, but she was sure that she would suffer some severe damage.
She could also see that those two were not the kind of opponents against whom she could allow herself to lower her guard, even for a moment.
.
Kanade steeled herself and decided that if she was to eliminate those two, she would have to start with the Wizard first.
So she went into a full sprint.
Feinting movement to the left and to the right, she avoided the Warrior with ease.
And while she was trying to get right past his side……
「Too naive!」
「Nyauh!?」
The Warrior saw through Kanade’s feint and stood right in front of her, blocking her path.
And this time around, their roles reversed completely. The Warrior rushed forward, using his shield as a sort of a battering ram.
Kanade was forced to stop in her tracks, and focus on defending against the Warrior’s charge.
And just like that, she caught the Warrior’s attack head-on.
「Persistent little bugger, are you!?」
Kanade tried to fend off the Warrior and run towards the Wizard once more, but……
The Warrior was as persistent as Kanade had said, blocking her path once more and charging straight at her with his shield.
Does that mean that Kanade had to defeat the Warrior first, in the end?
No, the Wizard was clearly more of a threat here.
Lost in her own thoughts, Kanade did not even realize that unexpectedly, the Warrior retreated.
But it was right after that that Kanade understood why he would do such a thing.
「“Dragon Howling”!」
While the Warrior was merely stalling for time, the Wizard had finished casting his Advanced-Level magic.
