Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 67 Part 1

CHAPTER 67: REIN’S BATTLE *1* PART 1

By the process of elimination, I was to confront the man who I thought to be the mercenaries’ leader.

This man must have had the abilities comparable to those of a B-rank Adventurer.

And just as you would expect from someone like that, the pressure that his body was giving was truly incredible.

If I were to throw caution to the wind and lower my guard even a little bit here, I was sure that I would be swallowed up by the man’s immense bloodlust and fighting spirit and would lose my will to fight in its entirety.

「Before we do this, may I ask you to do something for me real quick?」

「…… What is it?」

「Before I get to utterly crush you, please tell me your name. You seem to be tough even though your looks seem to be saying something completely opposite, so I am going to do you the honor of remembering your name after I finish you. As to why I would do that? Well…… call it a battle record of sorts, if you must.」

「…… Shroud. My name is Rein Shroud.」

「Nick Glory, at your service…… Now let’s do this thing!」

Nick shouted as he kicked the ground.

In just a split of a second, he was able to close the distance between the two of us, getting right in my face. To me, it felt as though he accelerated with using magic.

「Fuh!」

I could then see a right hook coming towards my temple.

I managed to avoid that and take a step back, getting ready to do a counterattack……

「Hah!」

But he would not let me do it! I had no time to come up with a counter of my own!

As if he could read my mind, Nick started to rain down on me one punch after another in a swift motion, with little to no delay between each strike.

He wasn’t just swinging his fists at me in a blind rage.

Each and every single one of his movements was refined to the limit, transcending into the form that could very well be called art.

「Could it be that you are a martial artist!?」

「Yeah! You got that right, kid!」

A fist that might as well be called a deadly weapon flew towards me.

It was a blow so powerful and so fast that it even created a small shockwave.

If it were to suffer a direct hit from a blow like that, it could very well shatter my bones and burst my internal organs.

Right after that, a straight punch came flying close to my face.

However, I could read the trajectory of this blow easily.

I twisted my body and tilted my head to the side to avoid it.

I then flexed my body further down, tackling Nick’s lower body in an attempt at grabbing him.

He intercepted my attempt with a knee strike, but I managed to block it just in the nick of time, holding onto his lower body and holding him down, knocking him off balance.

I then switched my position, trying to move on top of him, so that I could secure a more advantageous position for myself.

That’s the power I got from my contract with Kanade.

So it would be really hard for him to actually get out of that hold that easily.

At this rate, I was going to decide the result of this fight right here and right now!

With that enthusiasm driving me forward, I swung my fist down at Nick, who was locked in place right below me……

「Tch!」

「Wha……?」

This guy…… Even though he was in a mounted position, he was still able to avoid my fist as if it was nothing!

But it wasn’t just a one-time fluke.

It happened for the second time, and then the third time as well…… Each and every single one of my attempts at smacking him down was met with a last second evasion!

Nick shook his upper body and moved his head to try and avoid the blows I was sending his way from directly above him.

Alternatively, he would try to catch them with both of his hands acting as a makeshift shield.

So, this is the power of a genuine martial artist and a born fist fighter!

It was completely unlike my own moves, someone who had no technique behind his belt, only brandishing enhanced physical abilities.

A well-trained body and a technique that is ingrained in the depths of said body.

I guess those are the things that makes Nick’s entire body his greatest and scariest weapon.

「Don’t you…… get cocky with me, kid!」

「What the……!?」

In the manner of doing a bridge with his body, Nick turned over and broke my stance on top of him.

Then, as he spun his body around, he kicked me with all of his might.

And Nick’s kick was so powerful that it easily broke us apart and sent me flying.

「Fuh, you’re a hell of a force to be reckoned with. When was the last time you were in a mounting position like that? Can you even remember?」

「But that kind of skill you have…… you are also one hell of a tough guy. Are all fist fighters just like you are?」

「No. That’s only because I’m special.」

Nick flashed me a vicious smile.

It was a gesture that effectively sent shivers down my spine.

This guy is dangerous.

Most probably, the longer the fight goes on, I am going to be finding myself in a worse and worse situation.

There is a thought that goes through my head.

JUst how I managed to figure out Arios’s sword skills and attacks during our fight……

There’s a risk that Nick will see through my method of attacking and counter them all perfectly.

But it could also go the other way around: with me being able to see through Nick’s attacks.

That seemed like a very difficult thing to do.

Nick’s fists were not so merciful that they would give me the opportunity to attack back, even if I was able to see through him.

「Well then, let’s see how you are going to handle this!?」

I then released one of Narukami’s hidden mechanisms.

Immediately, it released a poison-coated arrow and sent it Nick’s way.

「Wha……!?」

The ideal situation here would be if Nick decided to use his arms as a shield once again, and let the needle inject the poison into his system, but unfortunately for me, it would seem that Nick would not be so foolish as to do that.

Seemingly assuming that the needle must have been coated with something, Nick was able to avoid the needle from a distance.

I did not really think that this attack was going to connect in the first place.

It would have been more than enough if it would be able to catch him by surprise, and…… No, that’s not it.

It would honestly be quite difficult to actually catch him by surprise.

If I could do that, I would have been much quicker with my attacks.
