CHAPTER 68: REIN’S BATTLE *2*

「…… What the!?」

All of a sudden Nick rushed forward with a speed that was simply incomparable to his previous one.

It would not be that much of a stretch to say that he was as fast as a wild beast in his current form.

If I hadn’t been paying close attention to him at all times, I might have actually lost sight of him.

「FUH! HAH!」

「Ngh!?」

A right hook. Then a left hook. And what followed after that was a series of straight and fast blows.

I somehow managed to avoid the first blow, but just barely.

The second blow followed so fast that I had no time to avoid it, so I had to use my own arm as a shield.

And once that blow connected with my arm, its impact was so strong that I could feel it resonate across my very bones.

Originally, I thought that he was an opponent to be reckoned with, but now……

The moment that he used that strange drug to dope himself has made him even more of a serious threat than before.

If it was not for the fact that I have signed that contract with Kanade, there was no doubt in my mind that this blow would have brought me down for sure.

That’s just how strong that man really was.

It seems that the story of him being comparable to a B-rank Adventurer was not a lie at all.

「Come on, come on, come on, come, COME ON! What’s wrong!? Getting tired!? But we are only getting started!!!」

Nick laughed out loud as he threw a series of fast punches my way.

Each of those blows were even faster and stronger from the one before it.

So far, I somehow managed to avoid suffering a direct hit, but at this rate……

Being forced to focus on evasion and defense, I was unable to move onto the offense and launch any counterattack of my own.

As if he was well aware of that fact, Nick moved in even more aggressively, mixing up his attacks and trying to get past my defenses.

The way his punches were changing direction and the fenints that he was occasionally throwing into the mix made me think of a wild beast trying to take a bite out of its prey.

Yes…… He was just like a snake right now.

Once he had its sights on its prey, there was no way that he would simply let it go.

I could even feel the strong sense of vindictiveness behind each of his blows.

「Don’t you think that you are getting a little bit too carried away with this!?」

Up until now I was concentrating solely on defense and evasion, but now it was high time for me to switch onto the offensive.

「You really think you can beat ME!? BRING IT ON!!!」

Nick’s attacks were as brilliant as the water flowing in the stream, and they were also seemingly seamless.

And just like that, a certain pattern……. a sort of Nick’s rhythm was slowly emerging in my mind. And I was able to understand it.

After saying that, Nick rushed in.

His fist swung at me from a really complicated angle.

It’s like he was a wild beast acting purely on instincts, acting with reckless abandon.

At the same time, he was barely even considering maintaining a proper huard himself.

I then heard a rustling of wings.

Countless birds obeyed my orders and flew into the mansion through the broken windows.

「God damn it…… So, you even know a couple of magic tricks, huh……!?」

When the smoke and dirt cleared out, the figure of the wobbly Nick was revealed.

He had taken some damage, but he hadn’t yet reached the state where I could finish himn off.

But that was well within the area of my predicitions.

That is exactly why…… This is the end!

「Go!!!」

I made the temporary contracts with the birds and gave them my order.

Following the order, countless birds flocked all over Nick.

「Guh……..!? W-What the hell are those things!?

「I know that now is not really the time for a lesson, but…… Do you happen to know how a normal bee can hope to defeat a hornet?」

「Say what……!?」

Nick looked confunded, but I did not care about that in the slightest and just continued talking.

「They crowd all over their opponent’s body so tightly that there’s no room for him to move even an inch. The heat created by doing so will gradually rob the hornet of its consciousness.

「YOU BASTARD!!!」

「I think that you can figure the rest out on your own. And on that note…… It’s over now.」

I threw some more orders for the birds, and make them flock all over Nick even more than before.

Nick swung his huge body around and tried to separate himself from the flock of the birds.

However, he was unable to completely separate from them, no matter how hard he tried.

In the meantime, Nick’s figure was buried under more and more birds.

From the side, it was an extraordinary sight to see countless birds flocking in one place like that.

It was a bit creepy, even I thought so. But it was something that was needed to be done.
