Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 7 Part 1

CHAPTER 7: MEANWHILE, AT AROUND THE SAME TIME……

「Haah, haah, haah…… W-What about our pursuiters?」

「I-I think we are fine…… I think we managed to get away from the…… At least they don’t seem to be following us……」

Rin and Mina looked back several times, gasping heavily for air.

They were currently dead in the middle of some wild animal trail, but at the very least they could not see any animals around them, not to mention humans.

「Fuuh…… Y-Yeah, I think we are safe for now.」

「Yes, no problem. None at all.」

Rin and Mina took on the merchant’s escort as a way to make a little bit of extra money on the side.

「That you decided to leave us there, is that it? Because of you, we are going to be a disgrace! Everyone is going to laugh at Heroes who couldn’t defeat mere bandits and had to run away from them!」

「You’re saying that you are a Beast Tamer, but even a Beast Tamer can fight, right? Our opponents were only some bandits. It’s not like they were some sort of powerful demons! So, does that mean that you cannot even take on someone as weak as that?」

「That’s why I have been telling you all this time! There’s no way the Beast Tamer is going to be able to fight on the frontlines like that! We don’t have the strength to fight ourselves, so we tame the beast and animals and we make them fight for us, instead!　That’s what it’s all about, being a Beast Tamer!」

「Well, excuse me? How can you make such a silly excuse? Even worms going through rotten garbage would be able to put up a half-decent fight! Way more than you did! Could you at the very least not embarrass yourself with such lame excuses?」

Rin then gave the Adventurer a disdainful look.

Even that useless Rein had fought with his own strength in battle.

Even during the battle against the Demon Lord’s Four Heavenly Kings, he had fought as a vanguard.

Of course, he wasn’t of much use to them, but…… But still, it was better than not being there at all.

And yet, this Adventurer……

He said that he doesn’t have the strength to fight on his own.

If that were the case, he would be even more useless than Rein was.

「You’re a Beast Tamer, aren’t you?　Then you should have tamed some more animals and sent them out to scout things ahead of time, shouldn’t you?」

「Y-Yes, and that’s exactly what I did! I had a squirrel tamed and on the lookout at all times! But a squirrel, even a very nimble squirrel, can’t have a full three hundred sixty degrees vision to stay alert at all times! The bandits came around us, and that delayed the squirrel’s ability to detect them in time……」

Irritated by the Adventurer’s words, Rin grabbed his chest again.

She looked so vicious that the man almost passed out from fear.

「Huh!? Well, in that case, you should have tamed ten or twenty more animals and have them on the lookout in all directions! Why didn’t you do that, huh!?」

「W-Why, that’s because…… It’s impossible! Something like that! Beast Tamers can tame only one animal at a time!」

「Don’t you try to lie to us! Do you think that this kind of lame excuse is going to work here!?」

「Ugh, I’m not lying!　You can’t even use two animals at the same time, so ten or more is going to be even more impossible……! That’s true for all Beast Tamers out there! If you use more than one of them at the same time, the burden on your body would only be doubled and you wouldn’t be able to hold on for long like that before collapsing!」

Rin and Mina looked at each other quickly.

They each made a slightly dubious expression.

They have never heard of such a thing before.

First of all, didn’t Rein use dozens of small animals to always be on guard and searching their entire surroundings?

There is no way that what Rein could do, others would be unable to do.

Therefore, this Adventurer must have been lying through his teeth to protect himself.
