Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 7 Part 2
CHAPTER 7: MEANWHILE, AT AROUND THE SAME TIME PART 2
He was spouting bullshit to cover up his own incompetence.
It was something that both Mina and Rin decided at a glance.
Rin then pushed the Adventurer away.
「Goodness gracious…… It looks like our luck is simply the worst as of late. I didn’t think there was anyone even more useless than that walking pile of human garbage. But, I stand corrected, I guess.」
「Yes. I never thought that we would ever meet even a greater fool than that one.」
「Guh……」
The Adventurer looked as if he wanted to try and argue something here, but he ultimately gave up.
There would be no point in saying anything to these two, and he knew it now.
That’s just how he felt at the current moment.
It was as if he was dealing with a different species that was speaking an entirely different language.
「So, what do we do now? We technically left our client there to rot like that……」
「Aahh…… Alright, let’s just leave it at that. Besides, isn’t it just unheard of for the members of the Hero’s Party to risk their lives for some mere merchant like that?」
「That’s true but won’t it hurt our name if we keep it up? If it’s just me, that’s fine, but when it involves Rin and Aggath…… not to mention that it would tarnish Arios’s good name.」
「Yeah, that…… That would actually be quite bad, I’m not going to lie.」
Rin thought for a moment.
It was she who found the request, but it was that Adventurer who actually took the job at the Guild.
.
Rin and the others are considered as “Heroes”, not “Adventurers” in the first place.
Although they are similar beings, they can’t casually take on requests like normal Adventurers would.
If such a thing was possible, everyone would rely on the Hero and his companions to do their job for them.
In order to avoid such a situation, an agreement has been made that only those with a certain level of power and authority would be allowed to make requests to Arios and his party.
Therefore, Rin couldn’t take that request on herself.
So, they found a suitable Adventurer and asked him to take the request on their behalf……
After thinking about the situation they were currently in for a moment, Rin came up with a most suitable solution.
She walked up to the Adventurer who was still sitting on the ground and held out her wand towards his face.
「H-Huh…… HUH!?」
Rin coldly told the Adventurer, who was really confused by that sudden action of the female Mage.
「You took this request on your own, tried to solve it on your own, and failed as a result of your own incompetence and inaptitude…… Can we pretend that’s what happened here?」
「Oh, I see…… Do we understand each other? You mustn’t talk about our involvement, is that clear? You must never talk about how we were commissioned together and what came of that in the end.」
Mina, sensing Rin’s thoughts and intentions, quickly got on board with the conversation.
In other words……
They were going to pin all of the blame for the failed quest on that poor Adventurer and pretend that they had nothing to do with it in the first place.
That was the plan that Rin came up with on the spot.
Naturally, there was no way that the Adventurer would not get angry at this blatantly unfair treatment.
「A-Are you kidding me!? Don’t be stupid! I’m not the one responsible for this whole mess, and you want me to take all of the blame onto myself……!? This whole thing ended up in failure because of your own recklessness! And yet, you put the blame on me alone and you’re expecting me to just accept it like that!? Just you wait! I am going to properly report you once I get back to the Guild and…… 」
「Oh, is that so……?」.
Saying that, Rin’s eyes narrowed sharply.
「If that’s how you want to play, then I guess that the only other alternative is for you to just die here on the spot, wouldn’t you agree?」
「W-What……?」
「You’ve heard me. If you want to report us to the Guild and throw false accusations our way, the only solution for us here is to kill you. Oh, we are going to kill you as well if you go and try to talk to the Guild in secret, so don’t even think of doing something so stupid like that? You can try to hide or run away, but we are going to chase you to the ends of the Earth and end you. That I can promise you.」
「Wha…… What are you…… Uhh……!?」
「You have two choices here: you can do what I tell you to do, or you can get killed right here and right now. What do you think?」
The end of Rin’s staff lit up, and there was a huge ball of flames that started to dance on it.
The flames eventually grew into huge tongues of flames, burning so big and so bright that it gave the Adventurer chills running down his spine..
「O-Okay, okay, I get it! I’ll do what you guys say! It was all my fault! It’s my fault, not yours!」
「See? That’s what I like to hear.」
「Yes, good boy. That’s really admirable of you.」
「Okay now, go right ahead and scram! Just looking at a walking pile of incompetence such as you is enough to make me feel sick!
「Hyiiih!?」
The Adventurer got up and started to run away, almost falling to the ground once more in the process.
「Are you sure that you want to leave it like this? Won’t he go back to town and start badmouthing us purely out of spite?」
「Since we have threatened him like that, we should be fine. He won’t go around spouting nonsense. He’s utterly incompetent, and there is only so little that you can do when you are like that.」
「Well, I guess that’s true. There’s only so much a fool can do, after all. No matter how hard he tries.」
「As expected, we shouldn’t have relied on some random guy in the first place.」
「’After all, Arios and Aggath are the only ones on whom we can safely rely on. Other than them, I wouldn’t trust anyone else.」
「Ahh! Now I’m feeling tired! Let’s get the hell out of here. This was already one hell of a crappy day as it was, and not receiving any money is going to make it even shittier.」
「Yes, you can say that again.」
Rin and Mina did not even realize that.
The Adventurer’s words were all correct, and it was actually the two of them who were asking for the impossible out of him.
…… But it would still be a while before they would realize their own mistake.
