CHAPTER 71: THE DECISIVE BATTLE *1*

「Oh my, you are going to fight me five against one? Oh no, I’m so outnumbered! Kyaah, so scary, I’m so afraid! So…… I’m going to have to call in some much needed reinforcements.」

The Demon then snapped his fingers.

The shadows around it rippled and spread out in a huge circle.

With a sound similar to the air bubbles popping one after another, the shadow rose up with a bobbing, unsettling sound.

One body, two bodies, three bodies…….

Ten bodies, twenty bodies, thirty bodies……

Countless small demons emerged from the shadows of the huge Demon.

They all had four legs, sharp fangs and red, bloodshot eyes.

Their appearance was just like that of beasts woven from the shadows themselves.

「Come on now, my beautiful children! It’s time to devour our enemies!」

At the signal of the Demon, the smaller demons attacked us all at once.

With saliva dripping from their fangs and opened mouths, they pounced on us, trying to bite off the chunks of our flesh.

「Unyah! Nya, nya, nya, nya, nya, nyah!!!」

Kanade’s rush of fists and Tanya’s tail sweep intercepted the incoming demonic beasts.

But that was only the first wave of the assailants.

And needless to say, the second and third wave followed right after the first one, not giving the two even a moment to catch their breaths.

Using Narukami, I ejected numerous needles in rapid succession, aimed at the incoming demons.

The needles flew like a rain of horizontal blows, skewering the beasts in their tracks.

In addition to that, I also released the wire from the gauntlet.

Catching one demonic beast with it and tightening it all around it……

I swung the blasted thing around and smashed it into the other beast that were coming right behind it.

「Sora, Luna!」

The illusionary dragon appeared right in front of Sora and Luna and soared forward with a loud roar, blasting the jet-black demonic beasts away in all directions.

The shockwave raged and swirled like a tornado for a while.

In the end, it managed to collectively swallow a huge portion of the demonic beasts and returned them to the dust from which they were spawned in the first place.

「Why is Kanade acting so high and mighty all of a sudden……?」

As if to recreate the scene from earlier, the Demon snapped his fingers once more, and the shadows from under its feet spread out in a circle once again.

And then…… Dozens of new jet-black demonic beasts appeared from the shadowy pool.

「Well, well, well! Thank you all for your hard work just now! But I forgot to tell you something really important. You see, these children are like a part of me, or should I say the extension of my own body? This way, I can create an infinite number of them again and again and again! The Demon pointed its palms at Kanade.

With a disgusting sound, the Demo’s hands discharged some sort of energy with a bang.

A jet-black thunderbolt was released and shot towards Kanade.

Being hit directly by that black thunderbolt, Kanade’s body convulsed mightily.

She was then blown away with a mighty force and plunged straight into the bushes at the edge of the road.

I rushed over to Kanade’s side in a hurry.

「Are you alright, Kanade?」

「Tanya!　Oh, and Sora and Luna, come here! Quick!」

「Roger that!」

Tanya seemed to sense my intentions, and she stepped forward without a moment of hesitation.

She then stood between us and the Demon, as if she was ready to become a protective wall.

At that moment, multiple fireballs were shot out from Tanya’s hands and directed at the Demon.

In order to enhance her Magic Power even further, Tanya decided to partially dispel the spell that was making her look human.

There were now dragon-like wings growing out of her back.

「Sora, Luna! While Tanya is keeping this thing occupied, please help Kanade!」

While Tanya was stalling for time, Sora and Luna cast a healing spell on Kanade.

The burns she had sustained from the black lightning here and there were slowly disappearing right in front of our eyes.

「Nyaah……? Hm? Oh, thanks, Sora, Luna. Thank you for saving me!」

Not long after, the treatment was over and Kanade was able to sit up on her own.

Although she was still a bit dizzy, there was no sign of damage left anywhere on her body.

「Kyah!?」

GUOOOAAAHHH!!!

At the same time, Tanya’s scream was heard behind us, accompanied by a loud roar.

It seems that the Demon has released yet another jet-black lightning from its hands.

That jet-black lighting managed to offset Tanya’s Dragon Breath, and a huge explosion occurred as a result of that.

I then checked her body quickly just to be sure, but she didn’t appear to be seriously injured or anything like that.

Since Dragon Breath was so strong, we thought that the Demon should at least sustain some damage from taking it head-on.

I kicked the ground and closed the distance between us.

As I ran forward, I released my Magic Power with all of my might.

An oversized Fireball exploded around the Demon in the next moment.

A pillar of fire rose up and also consumed the demonic beasts that the demon spawned.

However, the shadow of the Demon that should have been at the center of the raging inferno did not disappear.
