For a moment out there Nina looked somewhat depressed, probably feeling confused about this entire situation.

I am sure that because of everything that Nina went through recently, the way in which I have phrased it must have caused her to feel lost and confused.

And if that was to be the case, then……

「Personally, I would be really happy if you were to stay with us, Nina.」

「R-Really? With someone…… like me……?」

「We went through quite a bit of a mess together recently, so that basically makes us comrades in arms, wouldn’t you agree? And if that is the case here, then…… How about we stay together from now on? Look out for one another while we are at it?

「E-Even though…… I’m so useless and good for nothing……?」

「That’s not true, and you know it, Nina. You saved me when I was fighting with that Demon. That’s a huge thing to accomplish.」

「B-But…… It was not…… really that big of a deal…… And besides, I…… I don’t think that I…… will be able to keep up…… with you all…… I’m sure that I…… will only slow you down……」

「Nina, listen to me. Let’s put the matter of you being useless and dragging us down aside for the time being. Right about now, there is something completely different and unrelated that I would really like you to consider here.」

「Something…… completely different……?」

「Would you like to stay here with us? Or would you rather go somewhere else entirely? It’s that simple. How about you try to think about that for the time being?」

「Ahh…… I……」

「And just so you know, I would really like you to stay with us, Nina. I want us to be friends. I want us to help one another as we go forward. How about that? Doesn’t sound so bad now, does it?」

Sure, Nina was a member of the God Tribe, but she was also a little girl. And seeing someone like her looking all lost and troubled, there was no way that I would let her be alone. But……

But it wasn’t just that, if I’m perfectly honest.

Since we took part in such a gruelling battle and we managed to emerge victorious from it by working together, I wanted to continue to be with Nina as a friend and comrade that I could trust with my life.

This feeling was completely honest and real.

「Nyah…… It’s really hard to argue with Rein once he gets so serious like that, wouldn’t you agree?」

「Even though she’s so little…… C-Could it be!? Is that what you are actually into, Rein!?」

「Fufufun! If being small and petite is going to be advantageous here, then it’s all the better for us! Like this, we are bound to capture Rein’s heart in no time at all!」

「…… Even though Sora is more or less of the same height……」

Everyone was saying whatever it was that they wanted to say, without me actually being able to understand what it was all about. But for the time being, I decided not to worry about it all that much.

While smiling in a warm way at Nina……

Gently, I reached out my hand towards her and held it tightly.

「Would you like to come and live here with us?」

「…… Yes! I would really like that!」

Her body might have been small and frail, but it was filled to the brim with a tremendous amount of determination……

And just like that, Nina took my hand and grasped it tightly as well.

And just like that, with the addition of a new friend, our Party was bound to become even livelier than ever before.

But at the same time, with this many people living together with me, it might actually get tougher and tougher for us all to fit in inside of this single room at the inn.

And I’m sure that if we were to occupy more rooms, the innkeeper wouldn’t really like that and they would soon kick us out. Which was something I would rather like to avoid.

It would be nice if we could get a base of operations somewhere that was meant just for us……

「Hm?」

I looked down at the place where I could feel someone tugging on the hem of my clothes, and I saw Nina there, looking up at me.

「What is it, Nina?」

「Umm, the thing is…… Everyone in your party…… has a contract with you…… right, Rein?」

Once Nina officially joined our group and introduced herself again……

Everyone here mentioned that they were under a contract with me.

「Yes, that’s right, but…… What of it?」

「Well, umm…… You know…… It’s just……」

Nina was clearly mulling over some problem, lost for words.

She seems to want to say something, but she seemed to have trouble with putting her thoughts into proper words.

It was then that Kanade opened her mouth as if she was trying to voice Nina’s thoughts in her stead.

「Could it be that Nina wants to sign a contract with Rein as well?」

「…… Y-Yes.」

At Kanade’s words, Nina gave us a small nod.

「I, I…… I want to help you, Rein…… I want my…… power to be…… of good use……」

「I understand, but you do realize that you don’t have to do it, right, Nina?」

「Y-Yes, I…… I know but…… I’m not really…… forcing myself to…… do it here…… I want to…… help you…… because I want…… to do it……」

Her words might have been really clumsy there……

But I could feel Nina’s strong resolve behind those words.

「…… Alright, I understand. If that’s the case, then let’s make a contract, shall we?」

「Really……?」

「Yes, really. However, even though we might try to sign the contract, I have no idea if it will succeed or not. After all, I have signed the contracts with everyone else as well, so I might actually approach my limit……」

「Yeah, I think that we have all heard those exact words before.」

「He said the exact same thing when he was signing up the contracts with us, and it turned out that everything went nice and easy.」

That’s right.

For what it was worth, I was able to make a contract with both Sora and Luna…… and Tanya and Kanade as well.

Of course, I understood that making contracts with multiple Ultimate Species was something that was completely unheard of and absurd.

Now the question was: is Nina’s contract going to go as smoothly as everyone else’s?

For a moment out there, I was really worried, but then……

Somehow…… I knew that everything was going to be okay.

And strangely enough, that filled me with a sense of relief.

「Alright then, let’s do this.」

So I bit my thumb and drew the magic circle on top of my palm with the fresh blood.

「…… My name is Rein Shroud. Here I make a new covenant and hereby make a new bond with you. With an oath in my heart, with hope in my heart, with power in my hands. Answer me: what is thy name?」

「…… Nina……」

And just like that, the contract was made.

The same magic circle that was drawn on my hand appeared on Nina’s hand.

「And that concludes the contract signing.」

「Wow…… So, is that it?」

「Yes, it’s basically like…… a proof of our bond, I guess?」

「…… This is……」

Nina gently pressed the palm of her hand to her chest and smiled happily.
