Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 82 Part 2
CHAPTER 082 PART 2
「I see…… Well, if you say so, I’m not going to pursuit the matter further.」
「You’re a strange guy, you know…… bowing your head in apology to a mere ghost.」
「Really now?」
「Yeah, you sure are weird alright, Rein.」
「Pretty weird if you’d ask me.」
Kanade and Tanya followed suit with a retort.
When I looked at them, Sora and Luna were also nodding their heads in agreement.
「I-I…… don’t think that…… you’re weird at…… at all, Rein……」
Although Nina said so, I was getting a feeling that she was saying that purely out of consideration for me, which in turn did not make me feel better at all.
Am I really weird……?
「Okay, so let me confirm this one last time…… You are one hundred percent sure that you are not an earthbound ghost, right, Holly-san?」
Natalie-san asked that question while her face was filled with tension.
After all, as an Adventurers’ Guild representative, she wouldn’t be able to just leave Tina’s case alone.
It would be a huge problem for them if one of their properties was infested with a bound ghost, making it impossible to properly manage and sell……
I am sure that she was also ready to take some necessary steps to do something about it if push would come to shove.
「Yes, that’s right. I just happened to drift in here, so it’s not like I was spawned in this building and am bound to it.」
「Does that also mean that you would be able to leave when asked to do so?」
「Yes, of course.」
「Because of you, Tina, no one has signed up for this property, you do realize that, right? And its price and value basically continued to plummet more and more, and the Guild’s ability to manage its properties was being put into question as well…… Because of that, don’t you think that it is only natural that the Guild would like to sue for damages?」
「Yes, I understand that. However, I don’t really have any money to my name……?」
「Yes, I do realize that. So I won’t be pursuing that matter any further. However, I’m afraid that we cannot allow you to be here any longer. So I would like to ask you to leave this place preferably sooner than later.」
「No way…… And here I thought that I finally managed to find a nice place to shelter me from the rain and wind……」
So apparently, even ghosts need a place to stay and call home.
Tina looked very annoyed that she might be kicked out of what was basically her home up until now.
「…… Say, Kanade?「
Gently, I called out to Kanade behind everyone’s back.
「Nyah……?」
「Are you afraid of Tina?」
「Uhh……」
Somehow, it looked as though Kanade managed to figure out what I was going to say here.
So Kanade let out an indescribable voice.
「Honestly…… I’m a little bit scared.」
「…… I see.」
「But…… Even though I’m scared of her, I actually think that……. we might actually get along. …… Maybe.」
「Thanks, Kanade.」
「Munyah.」
When I gently patted Kanade on the head, she smiled at me, looking as though she managed to somewhat calm down.
「Natalie-san. I have a quick question for you, if you wouldn’t mind……」
「Yes, what is it?」
「Even if Tina was to be chased away from here, would the value of this house ever be restored to its original value?」
「Ugh…… Well, that’s……」
They say that a certain house on the hill is really haunted by a malevolent spirit.
Once a rumor like that takes hold, it’s pretty hard to dispel it, no matter what.
It would be even more difficult since a certain amount of people already knew about it, and knew that it was real.
So even if Tina was to be chased away from here, there would be no way to actually prove that the house was no longer haunted.
The house would be the topic of gossips and talks for years to call, all with the negative connotations, of course.
Natalie-san seemed to be aware of that fact, and her shoulders slumped disappointedly.
「…… There is no way that it would ever go back to the way it was before. Because once a rumor of this property being haunted comes along, it will be really difficult to dispel it and prove to the people that they are wrong.」.
「Thought as much.」
「But that doesn’t mean the Guild is just going to abandon it…… Maybe there will be some eccentric group of people who wouldn’t mind a property like this, the way it is. In case that’s the case, Tina-san needs to move out and…….」
「Well, you want your eccentric group of people? We are right here.」
「Huh?」
「I want to buy this house. I don’t mind keeping Tina in it as well.」
「…… Are you sure?」
「Yes, are you sure?」
Natalie-san and Tina cocked their heads in unison.
Their gestures were so similar that they almost made me laugh on the spot.
「That sounds like the best possible solution, don’t you think?」
Tina doesn’t want to leave the house she just so happened to have found.
Natalie-san doesn’t want for this property to become a source of problems for the Guild, so she wants to sell it.
But even if she chases Tina away, she doesn’t know if a contractor will show up who would want to buy.
But there is no way that the Guild would be able to raise the value of this particular property.
So in that case, the best thing that the Guild could do would be to sign the contract with me and accept Tina as well with it.
Natalie-san would not want to get rid of Tina if it weren’t for the Guild’s ties to the property.
I honestly think that this solution was everything that they could possibly wish for and then some more.
「……………」
Running her hand over her chin, Natalie-san was lost in deep thoughts for a moment.
She stood there for a while like that, not moving even an inch.
And then, she let out a small giggle.
「Yes, that’s right…… I think that this solution is honestly for the best here.」
「Does that mean that we have a deal?」
「Shroud-san, you are quite the smooth operator if I do say so myself. You found the best possible solution to the problem at hand and you made it look so easy.」
「It’s just a coincidence, I assure you.」
「It’s not easy to accept ghosts as something that you would like to live right next to…… But I guess that I should say that it is really impressive, in a sense.」
Natalie-san then held out the papers towards me.
「Please sign right here. And could you pay the Guild those ten gold coins right away?」
「Of course. That won’t be a problem.」
I did as I was told and signed the documents wherever it was necessary.
.
Then I handed Natalie-san the coins.
「Yes, everything is in order. That also means that the contract is now in full power. The house will be yours from now on. It will also be your responsibility to make sure that Tina is going to be on her best behavior from now on. Well then, see you later at the Guild……」
Natalie-san bowed her head politely and then left the house.
I then held out my hand towards Tina.
「So from now on, I guess that we are going to be living together?」
「Oh yes, of course! Originally, I was supposed to leave, but…… I’m so grateful that you let me stay here!」
「L-Looking forward to be living with you……?」
「Just make sure you won’t go through walls and stuff like that, okay? Because it might scare the living crap out of some people here.」
「Nice to meet you. Being a maid, does that mean you can cook? If you’d like, you can tell Sora all about it!」
「Nice to meet you! So, just to let you know…… You don’t actually have to teach Sora anything, alright?」
「Nice to…… Meet you……」
Everyone would say hello to Tina and……
「Yeah! Nice to meet you all, too!」
Tina responded with a smile and shook my hand enthusiastically.
