CHAPTER 97 PART 2

「Don’t worry. We would never think so about our own companion.」

「Oh, that’s so kind of you, Master Rein. But this is a matter of my own, personal feelings. It’s not good to be the one who is getting carried everywhere at all times! You have to do the carrying every once in a while! So I want to help you guys just like that! So I’m going to do my very best!」

「Yeah, we’re counting on you.」

「Sure thing! Just leave it all to me!」

Tina chuckled again.

Then she floated in a huff and disappeared into the house’s walls.

「Is Tina really going to be okay in there?」

「Yeah. I’m sure that she’ll be just fine.」

I then gently stroked Kanade’s head in order to try and calm her down. It was nice to see that she was so worried about Tina, even though she was still slightly afraid of her.

And just like that…… about thirty minutes or so have passed.

As for Tina…… she was still to come back to us.

「Unyah……」’

Kanade looked restless and fidgety all this time.

Everyone else seemed to be in the same boat as her.

There didn’t seem to be any commotion going on inside of the house, so it was hard to imagine that Tina had been found but……

Yeah, I was also starting to worry about her.

I tried not to be, but it was downright impossible.

Just being able to sit around and wait for someone to return was actually pretty hard.

「She’s taking so long……」

「Do you think they might have caught her?」

「No, I don’t think so. There was no sign of any alarm going off or commotion taking place inside, right?」

「But what if she just got lost inside?」

「That’s really unlikely. You are the only one who would do that, Luna.」

「You think that I’m that navigationally impaired, huh!?」

「I’m also…… worried……」

Seeing that Nina was all worried and anxious, I gently patted her head to try and calm her down.

For the time being, let’s just wait a little while longer and see what happens……

If Tina still won’t be back after some more time, then we are going to step into the house.

Because if we are going to be sitting around and twiddling your thumbs any longer, something might happen. Something that would be impossible to take back.

「Ah!」

It was then that Kanade’s tail popped up.

I followed her gaze and saw Tina’s figure around the roof of the mansion.

Tina slipped through the walls and fences and fluffily moved towards us.

「Welcome back!」

「I’m so glad you’re okay.」

「I was worried about you being late.」

「……………」

One after another, the girls greeted Tina back.

However, Tina didn’t respond to either of the greetings.

She somehow looked depressed and pale.

She looked unusual, even for a ghost.

What happened inside of that house?

「…… Tina, are you okay?」

「……………」

「…… Tina!」

「…… Ah…… Master Rein……」

When I called out strongly to her, Tina finally seemed to notice us and looked up lazily our way.

……..She had a terrible look in her eyes.

Sludge and various emotions were simmering in there, and her eyes looked as if she had looked into the abyss of this world.

What in the world was going on inside of that house……?

「What happened? What did you see? Can you tell me?」

「It was not such a big of a deal…… I guess I can’t really say that, huh?」

「Sorry, but now way.」

「Was it that obvious?」

「Well, with you making that kind of expression, there is no way that we wouldn’t find it obvious that something happened there.」

「…… Did I really make such a horrible expression?」

「Want a mirror to see for yourself?」

「Ah…… You know, I’m going to pass. I’m a girl, too, you know? I’m sure that if I saw just how horrible my face looks right now, I would keel over all over again.」

As we talked more, little by little, Tina’s complexion began to improve.

She seemed to have regained her composure a bit as well.

「Alright then. I guess we can call this thing off for tonight.」

「Huh?」

「I don’t want to force you to do anything, Tina. There is no set deadline on this request, so it doesn’t matter if we take care of this merchant now or some other time.」

「Master Rain, I know that you are being kind here, but there are fine lines with kindness that shouldn’t be crossed, you know? In fact, it’s actually rather painful for me, but…… as I said. I want to help you in whatever way I can, MAster Rein.」

「But……」

「You don’t need to worry about me. It’s just that…… It’s just that this house made me remember something rather unpleasant. That’s it.」

「Something unpleasant……?」

Was that something that I should have left unsaid?

I’m not sure what to do, but……

I dared to ask her about it, anyway.

I wasn’t going to force Tina to say anything.

But if she was the one who wanted to talk about it……

If it would come to that, I would do anything in my power to eliminate that something that made her feel so uneasy.

「You know, it might actually help you to feel better if you were to talk about it to someone else rather than keep it all bottled up inside.」

Well, it just so happens that the one who killed me…… is actually the owner of this very house.」
