Chapter 28 Part 2

「People are often unaware of the ability that is required of them. They tend to think that anyone can do what they can easily do. Maybe the 【Hero】 Vince felt that the offensive magic he learned early on was something that anyone could learn too after knowing that he can use healing magic like you later on.」

「…So that’s what this is about…」

「Yep. So you should reflect on this as well. You used to think that Cure is magic that anyone could easily use, right?」

…It’s exactly as Sybilla said.

Cure is the highest form of healing magic that can cure any injuries and status abnormality.

I didn’t know and didn’t even try to find out. Because I was able to use it from early on.

「This kind of broader perspective I use when I’m observing people is called 『God’s Perspective』, but… well, I’m actually a Goddess, after all. With this perspective, sometimes I can’t help but think 『these guys are idiots!』, when the people I observed weren’t doing things effectively like what I expected them to do, like for example, when the next monster that’s going to show up is a strong one, or when they’re about to learn new magic… but, the person involved doesn’t know that, right? I mean——」

Sybilla turned to the front while keeping her eyes on me.

「The mindset,『others can’t do what I can do easily』 that naturally existed in everyone, is becoming difficult for the person concerned to acknowledge, you see. That’s why——」

She stopped in her tracks and stared at me right in my eyes with a serious expression on her face.

「——there are many who failed because of this, and I’ve been there to see enough.」

………..

I… see…

I’ve been using magic as a matter of course, but I guess I need to keep in mind the phenomenon that 『normal people can run out of magic power』 more firmly.

It’s true that I’ve trained my swordsmanship.

However, it would be impossible for me to compete against a more high-leveled swordsman who has a much better physique.

Even though I used to envy the swordman who could casually wield an oversized sword and swing it around with ease, the other party would think that I, who has almost limitless magic power to the point it’s unfair, was much more superior.

Even I was like that too at one point.

I envied those who have the ability to fight.

The reason for that envy was of course… because it’s something that I don’t have.

I guess I’ll have to think hard about this once again… about who I want to see myself as, and about the people around me.

「Well, the way I said it might’ve been a little bit harsh, but…」

Sybilla turned toward the direction of the village again.

She then brushes her silver hair back with her hand and looks at the setting sun.

「I guess I, too, should be more careful with the thoughts of 『they should know at least this much』 when I’m observing people with the 『God’s Perspective』.」

I am sure that Sybilla, who just made a self-reflection, must have felt the same way as I do now.

「Besides…」

Sybilla, with a happy but somewhat mischievous expression on her face, pointed toward the north side of the village.

「The you, who always said something like, 『Huh? This much is easy, though?』, was able to save a lot of people’s lives without asking anything in return. And that kindness of yours will surely come along and become your strength.」

In that direction, a familiar face is waving her hand at us while carrying luggage on her back.

All of us returned to the village and entered the orphanage.

I talked to the woman carrying luggage in front of me who joined us on the way.

「…Did you really run while carrying all of this on your back?」

「I returned home on horseback after delivering the items, but when the equipment arrived, I decided to run from the village gate.」

「…Um, I don’t think I have heard of your name before, but…」

「Oh dear, you’re right!」

The woman in front of me said and took out a tag from her chest.

Obviously, what she took out was a tag for adventurers… but more amazingly, was the information that was written on it, which was not what I’d expected.

『Adria』—— Victoria,【Swordsman】 level 23.

「Thank you for taking care of Brenda, I’m her mother.」

「Eh!? Onee-san, you were this strong!?」

Sybilla reacted before I could.

Hearing her comments, Victoria-san, aka Brenda’s mother, responded with, 「My my~! To think that you would call me Onee-san, fufu~」. She’s at-my-pace like always just like when she was serving the food back then.

……I didn’t know she was such an amazing person. She’s such a sweet and gentle mother outside, and yet she can carry all this luggage easily without breaking a sweat.

Or rather, did she deliver the materials on horseback at night, return in the morning, and come all the way to the orphanage running? That’s a tremendous stamina she has.

When she was doing all of that, I was probably having a silly banter with Sybilla.

「The Black Goblin caught me off guard and injured me, but I worked quite hard as an adventurer, you know?」

「So, why are you working in the field now?」

「I think the exhaustion caught up to me, so I decided to retire. Well, enough about me, more importantly—」

Victoria ended her story there and began unpacking the luggage she was carrying.

What appeared from there is the red color I’m familiar with.

There are a few things in there besides the armor, too.

「Dwarf-san was very excited when he saw the materials, and apparently he made just this one first. Here you go.」

I thought it was strange that the request was made last night and the finished product was already delivered today. So that’s why.

It makes me realize how special the Dwarves are when it comes to creating stuff.

「There it is.」

「Hm?」

「The production speed is really impressive, even from my standpoint, but the Dwarf who made these must be thinking along the lines of 『Making this many equipment with this speed is easy, anyone can do this much』.」

「…I see…」

As I was convinced of what she taught me earlier, I took off my robe and put on the armor over my shirt.

「It seems it was made to be stretchy and lightweight, making it easy to move around in it.」

「…You’re right, it’s light and didn’t obstruct my movements. This is awesome.」

Sybilla taps her light armor with her fist.

「Since they’re equipped with this kind of armor on their bodies from birth, it’s no wonder that to Dragon-sama, fighting humans is a piece of cake.」

Tell me about it… no wonder normal swords weren’t able to put a scratch on it.

It’s like you’re born with this full-body armor, so you have a whole different level of confidence when it comes to fights.

「So, how is it? Is it good?」

「Yeah. Thank you for all of the thorough preparation you made, Sybilla. With this——」

……The Floor Boss of the lower layer.

I don’t know what kind of monster we’re going to face down there, but with this much preparation, then……

「——it’s worth a shot.」

Satisfied with the feel of my new equipment, I clenched my fists as I thought about what kind of challenge we were going to face beyond that giant door.
