Chapter 51 Part 1

The Treatment For The Veteran Party, The Emergence Of A New Enemy, And My Memories With Jannet

The five-person party that went inside the dungeon ahead of us was a few years older than us and looked like veterans.

But their faces clearly showed signs of fatigue.

Sybilla moved to block my view and looked my way.

I know, you wanted to say that I can’t just decide on my own to use my magic in a situation like this, right?

Of course, I’m not so conceited as to think I could do a better job than Sybilla when it comes to negotiations.

「I leave it to you.」

「Alright.」

That short exchange was enough for us.

Sybilla smiled triumphantly after hearing my reply, then turned back to the party that went ahead of us.

And then, a small voice echoed loudly in this quiet space.

「Captain, don’t you think that these youngsters accidentally wandered on this floor like us?」

A man who seemed to be a mage was whispering to another man in their party, but I can hear you loud and clear you know.

The man looked away awkwardly when his eyes met mine.

As I was looking at that guy, Emmy, who was standing next to me, poked me with her fingertips.

「What was that exchange you had with Sybilla-san just now?」

「I was just telling Sybilla to handle the negotiation with that party.」

「…….I’m surprised you understood with just that.」

「Well, somehow… yeah.」

「Muu〜……」, Emmy groaned and retreated to my side. ……Well, I myself think it was a pretty normal exchange because we were already used to each other.

But… if Emmy and Sybilla had been partners, I think they would’ve been able to do at least this much.

And from what I can see, the two of them seem to have gotten along pretty well, too.

I don’t know what goes on in Sybilla’s head, but it’s easy to tell what she’s thinking.

Since her goal is always——the best possible results.

「First of all, can you tell me who’s the representative of your party?」

「……That would be me.」

A fearless-looking warrior who was about thirty-something raised his hand.

Sybilla then scanned their party and their heads stopped at a woman.

That woman is… I see, she’s sweating and her breathing is shallow.

「You’re an Assassin, aren’t you? Could you perhaps have been poisoned by the Black Goblin?」

「…Yes, I’m surprised you can tell.」

「I, too, was poisoned by the Black Goblin the very other day after all. And…. the reason all of you holed up here, unable to exit the dungeon was also because of that poison, correct?」

The leader remained silent and lowered his gaze with a bitter expression.

He couldn’t admit it honestly, but he couldn’t deny it either. But the expression on the leader’s face told us that Sybilla’s guess was on the mark.

「Poison that slows down your movement is surely dangerous to the type of vanguard who keep the enemies at bay using evasion rather than taking their attacks with defensive skill. One characteristic of Black Goblin’s poison is that ordinary anti-poison won’t work against it. Now then… let’s begin the negotiation. So how much can you offer?」

「As I thought, is that guy in a robe over there a Priest? If he can really save our guy then… how about 5 Gigante’s ears?」

「Hmm… I feel like you guys can give me 20, can’t you?」

「That’s impossible even for us. .…How about 10?」

「Alright, you got yourself a deal.」

I thought she’d persist a little longer, but Sybilla surprisingly backed down easily. The man in front of me sighed in relief.

After the negotiation finished, Sybilla touched my tag.

And the word 【Saint】 appears at that moment.

Every member of the party in front of me was shocked.

「N-No way… a real Saint?」

「By the way, this cute girl next to me is a Holy Knight. And we didn’t just wander in here, we’re properly aiming for the lowest floor.」

When she told them this, the one who seemed to be a female archer slapped the mage man angrily.

She bowed her head profusely to us for being rude, but… well, I don’t really mind it that much, so they don’t have to worry about it.

「Well then, I leave it to you, Russell. Oh, and… make sure you chant, okay? And since we got quite a bit from them, you can also throw in some heals as a bonus.」

「Got it.」

With that, I approached the woman. It must take guts to dodge enemy attacks with such a slender body.

Being slowed down must’ve been scarier for her than a heavily-equipped warrior.

「You’ll be all right now. 《Cure》, 《Extra Heal》」

After I used my healing magic on her from up close, the female assassin tried moving both of her hands to check her condition and her eyes opened wide in amazement. She then stood up, lightly jumped on the spot, and when she lowered her hips——she suddenly disappeared from my sight.

When I turned toward the sound of boots touching the ground, the female assassin was standing there, looking at her own hands. So this is what an evasion-type decoy role looks like, huh? This was my first time seeing one of them, but as expected of a veteran who had dived into the third dungeon, her skills were no joke.

「Wow, this is too amazing! The poison, the injuries… and even my fatigues are all gone!」

「That’s the kind of magic it is. You’re the one who moves the most in your party right? That’s why I figured it’d be better if I used this magic.」

「Thank you very much, Saint-sama!」

「I’m younger than you, so you don’t have to be so formal with me. I’d appreciate it if you just think of it as treatment appropriate for the price you paid.」

Afterward, everyone in their party thanked me one by one.

The fact that they don’t seem even a bit hesitant to bow to someone younger than them for healing one of their members… I can tell that they’re a good party.

As I felt the joy of being thanked after they all thanked me, along with a slight tingling sensation inside of me, Sybilla suddenly clasped her hands.

「Alright alright everyone, let’s talk now, shall we? First of all, I wanted to know why all of you, a veteran adventurer party, are going to the middle layer where only people with suicidal thoughts would dare to go?」

The faces of the five members of the party changed color upon hearing Sybilla’s question.

They were clearly so shaken that it seemed as if the female assassin was in a better state when she was exhausted because of the poison a moment ago.

Those expressions——are dyed with 『Fear』.

It’s hard to believe that a group of five skilled dungeon explorers of the third dungeon are trembling, overwhelmed by uncontrollable fear.

They didn’t even bother to hide it from us, their juniors.

……Somehow, I have a really bad feeling about this.

The leader slapped his knee strongly.

At that moment, everyone was startled and turned their attention to him.

Sybilla had her arms crossed and was looking at him intently, while Emmy kept holding onto my sleeve.

「Damn it, that was pathetic. But, that thing… just what the hell was that thing…!」

He then began to talk.
