Chapter 57 Part 1

Emmy’s Side: I Don’t Need To Be A Princess Anymore. After All, I Have……

 

When Russell hugged me from behind, the excitement from his gentle pressure and his somewhat sweet scent turned the Frozen Spring in my heart into a Hot Spring in an instant. And so the story ends and the two lived happily ever after.

Of course, I was just joking, but that’s just how surprised I am with this situation and I can’t help but make such a joke.

 

A black-colored sword. Glowing with a jet-black light as the result of being infused with dark magic.

An attribute that can only be used by a Russell who desires the power to fight and obtained by sacrificing some levels he has as the Saint.

 

That very magic was granted to the sword I have in my hands.

 

This beautiful sword, crafted by dwarves from a Fire Dragon’s fang and coated with a metal which is also known as magic silver, is likely to be one of the greatest magic swords in the world.

Looking at the black color that blended nicely with its surface, I knew immediately that this was the true power of this sword.

 

When I turned my gaze a little to the side, Russell’s eyes met mine.

Although he has a serious expression, there’s something that makes me feel like he has the same caring look in his eyes as the old Russell… and it’s probably not just my imagination.

 

And so, one thing I can say is…

 

「Thanks.」

 

One heartfelt word.

 

The tension seemed to have relaxed from the way he looked at me.

And then, Russell too…

Just that one sentence.

 

It was a brief exchange, even shorter than his with Sybilla-san’s.

But still… it was enough for us to confidently feel that we had communicated everything we wanted to say to each other.

 

It’s terrible of me to spend the whole day being jealous of how good of a partner Russell and Sybilla-san are.

I too, had a childhood full of happy memories with Russell that Sybilla-san would definitely be jealous of.

With a loud impact, several holes appeared in the stone wall that Sybilla-san had just created.

I located the nearest Blue Gigante and jumped into the hole right as the stone wall got destroyed, and as the Blue Gigante came to view in front of me, I swung my sword at it.

The Blue Gigante from earlier was, of course, covered in thick armor.

And my sword… went through that arm covered in armor without any resistance as if I was cutting through a chicken or vegetables with a well-sharpened kitchen knife.

Its arm along with the armor falls off to the ground with an unbelievably clean cut.

That armor, which until a moment ago I couldn’t damage even when I hit it with all my might, feels incredibly brittle, like the cookie that Frederica-san made for us when she returned from a business trip to another institution.

 

Complete Defense Nullification, huh? I didn’t expect it to be this amazing.

When the Blue Gigante’s right arm fell, the left arm furiously came at me, who was naturally still in its range.

I blocked it with the Dragon Scale shield I held in one hand.

My true value lies in my powerful defenses. The fist of a Blue Gigante, that’s only good with offensive magic, won’t do anything to me.

Of course, I know well enough that giant fist still has unordinary strength behind it.

 

Russell is a Healer but he managed to defeat this guy, a floor boss of the upper layer, although he got hit by that very fist in the process.

I’ve said this many times before, but… as I thought, Russell is just too cool.

…But it was really painful watching him fight in a way that caused him to hurt himself so much…

 

……If that guy purposefully made these monsters wear armor to limit what I can do in the fight… so that Russell would be forced to push himself too hard, then…….

I won’t forgive him for trying to sabotage me with such underhanded means that even Sybilla-san said were against the rules!

I jumped up with my shield in one hand and after blocking the magic with it, I swung my sword down on its head.

I cut the Blue Gigante in two along with its armor without any resistance at all.

 

The Blue Gigante, of course, died instantly.

For the current me, these armored upper layer bosses are so much easier to deal with than the Black Gigantes we encountered on our way to this floor boss room.

 

「Next!」

 

I charged straight ahead without hesitation toward another Blue Gigante that somehow seemed like it flinched after seeing its comrade split in two.

 

Russell looked hurt when he got hit by Blue Gigantes’ magic, but in my case,  as long as I block it with my shield, and due to my own high defense power and the protection from layers of defensive magic, I barely receive any damage at all.

 

「——《Stone Wall》! Russell, how does it look on your side!?」

 

「If it’s only one of them, I can defeat it easily, but… my predecessor did too, right?」

 

「Of course! A 【Twilight Sorcerer】 will never lose a long-range attack battle, just so you know! It’s the strongest Job there is!」
