Episode 12: As an Adventurer
After returning to Cavia Town, we headed to the Adventurers’ Guild building to complete the standing quest.
「Hello, we’ve completed the quest for gathering materials for antidotes. We’d like to complete the quest.」
「Sure, can I see your guild card and the materials you gathered?」
「Here you go.」
We handed over our guild cards and the ten sets of antidote materials we had collected.
The receptionist efficiently checked the herbs.
「This is very thorough work. I’m sure the apothecaries will be pleased. We might even get a special request for the 【Light of Hope】.」
「That would be great.」
I realized that continuing to do meticulous work and receiving special requests would likely increase our quest rewards, so I decided to always aim for thorough work.
Since I don’t have combat skills, I need to put extra effort into gathering quests!
After completing the quest, we split the reward of thirty silver coins and left the guild to return home.
I was relieved that we got home without any trouble this time.

I immediately hugged my mom and kissed her cheek.
「Welcome back! Was everything okay?」

I took the one-horned rabbit out of my bag to show her, and she looked at it with wide eyes.
「Did you really hunt this rabbit, Selen?」
「Yes, I did it with Gai-san’s instructions.」
「That’s amazing! That’s my Selen♪」
I beamed with a full smile at my mom’s praise.
After that, Mom made a rabbit dish for us, and we had a wonderful time enjoying the delicious food.
I then told her about Gai-san’s comment on my ability to use magic without incantations.
「Mom, there’s something I need to tell you. When I used my magic, it seems I did it without an incantation. Gai-san said it’s rare to use magic without incantations, so it’s better if people don’t find out.」
When I told her about using magic without incantations, her expression clouded a bit.

Since I cannot use magic, I requested that a member of the Shadow proficient in magic be assigned to us.
「I understand. I’ll convene an emergency meeting to discuss Celestia-sama’s future and set the course of action. Wait here.」
「Got it.」
I felt an immense sense of potential in Celestia-sama.
Determined to aid her growth from her side, I resolved to redouble my self-discipline and devote my life to serving her.

Episode 14: The Tense Meeting
Due to Gai’s report revealing that Celestia can use magic without incantation, an emergency meeting was called to decide the future course of action.
「We have convened this emergency meeting to determine the future training and development plan for Celestia, given her ability to cast spells without incantation. I ask for everyone’s cooperation.」
「「Understood.」」
With my words, the emergency meeting began.
Roy reported the details he had heard from Gai, who had accompanied Celestia on the quest.
「According to Gai’s report, while on a gathering quest with Celestia-sama, a one-horned rabbit appeared. He suggested hunting it with magic, and Celestia-sama activated the water blade spell, Water Cutter, without incantation. The distance to the one-horned rabbit was about 10 meters, and she decapitated it in one strike.」
「I spoke with Celestia after she returned from the quest, and her account matches this report. There is no doubt about its accuracy.」
As I confirmed Roy’s report, the people present expressed their astonishment.
「Celestia-sama is a user of incantation-less magic and possesses excellent magical control. Such remarkable talent.」
While surprised, the Shadow Leader praised Celestia’s extraordinary talent, and those around nodded in agreement.
「If Celestia-sama receives proper training from a specialist in magic, she could become a mage of the Grand Magus class.」
「Does the 【Shadow】 not have someone of such caliber?」
I inquired whether there was anyone in the Shadow capable of teaching Celestia magic, but the Shadow Leader shook his head before responding.
「Our missions in the 【Shadow】 involve intelligence, assassination, and special protection. Thus, we do not have anyone specialized in magic…」
「Is there no good connection within the 【Shadow】?」
To nurture Celestia’s talent, I thought it would be good to rely on connections to arrange for top-tier instruction.
「We know an Elf who was a former Imperial Grand Magus, but they are very whimsical, so we cannot guarantee they will take on the task. Nonetheless, I will try to contact them.」

「Do not get your hopes up too high. Also, please tell Celestia-sama to avoid using incantation-less magic. If it is known, it will surely be reported to the royal capital.」
「I have already informed her of that. Celestia always keeps her promises to me, so there will be no issue.」
「Understood.」
「Let us adjourn for today. Please report any progress regarding Mystique.」
「「Agreed.」」
Thus, the emergency meeting concluded, and the encounter with Mystique, which would greatly influence Celestia’s future, was still a little way off.

Episode 15: Special Request
Our party continued to take and complete gathering quests, regardless of whether they were regular or constant quests.
One day, we were informed by the Adventurers’ Guild that we had received a special request for a gathering quest.
The request came from a pharmacy called Falke Store, which wanted a regular supply of medicinal herbs.
The necessary herbs could all be gathered from the plains and forest, but heading into the forest meant facing the danger of encountering monsters.
Still, since it was a special request, the completion reward was quite substantial, so I really wanted to accept it.
The forest was home to much stronger monsters than slimes and goblins, such as orcs and forest wolves, which made it likely that Gai and I wouldn’t be able to handle them.
While we were debating whether to accept the special request, Roy approached us.
「I’ll go with you when you gather in the forest. If monsters appear, I’ll support you and you can use it as an opportunity to practice defeating them. I’ll look after you both until you’re capable of handling the forest monsters on your own!」
It was a generous offer, but I was worried it might interfere with Roy-san’s adventuring activities, so I asked him about it.
「Wouldn’t looking after us interfere with your adventuring activities? You have your own life to consider, so if it’s a burden, we will decline the offer.」
「Haha, it’s part of us veteran adventurers’ duty to nurture promising adventurers like you, Selen. So there’s no need to worry about it.」
「Thank you, Roy-san!」
With his reassurance, there was no reason to refuse.
We decided to accept Roy-san’s offer to accompany us on forest gathering trips, and we informed the Adventurers’ Guild that we would accept the special request.
They then provided us with the detailed information.
The request from Falke Store, made through the Adventurers’ Guild, was to deliver 30 sets of herbs each week needed for making healing and antidote potions, with a reward of 10 silver coins per set.
However, we had to deliver the full 30 sets.
The details were such that the usual reward for constant gathering quests was about 5 silver coins, so this was double the reward!
Accepting this special request meant our income would gradually increase.
This brought me closer to the dream of a happy life with my mom, and I felt even more determined to work harder.
