Chapter 25

Episode 4: The Academic Test

The first academic test was in 【Magic Studies】.

The questions were so easy that I wondered if they were really exam questions. It was a breeze♪

『Name the four primary magic attributes.』

『Draw and label the compatibility chart between the attributes.』

These were the kinds of questions on the test.
There was no need to spend 120 minutes on such simple questions—I finished everything in about 20 minutes.

I was certain I’d scored a perfect score.

As I sat there, waiting for the test to end while daydreaming, the examiner announced the end of the 【Magic Studies】 test.

「Alright, the 【Magic Studies】 test is over! Please remain seated until your answer sheets are collected. Once your answer sheets have been collected, you may leave and take a break.」

After my answer sheet was collected, I wandered around a bit and overheard some other applicants talking.

「I could only answer half of it…」

「Those kinds of questions are tough for commoners like us. They’re designed for the wealthy, like the nobles.」

Wait… so everyone else found it difficult? (sweat)

Honestly, I was surprised at how little knowledge people in this world seem to have…

The next test, 【Mathematics】, was even easier…

It was just addition and subtraction—seriously, isn’t this supposed to be the top academy in Tiarad Empire?
I couldn’t help but want to say something!

Of course, I finished all the questions in under 10 minutes and spent the rest of the time daydreaming again (awkward laugh).

After the 【Mathematics】 test ended, it was time for a lunch break.
I moved to the courtyard, sat down on a bench, opened my lunchbox, and started eating my sandwich.

As I was eating, I overheard the conversations of others who were also having lunch in the courtyard…

「That was impossibly difficult…」

「It’s tough for commoners to get into Tiarad Academy, isn’t it…?」

That’s all I heard…
I thought this academy was supposed to offer an environment where you could learn from both noble and commoner perspectives, but now I was beginning to wonder if there were any commoners here at all (sweat).

Finally, the last test, 【Holy Studies】, was another breeze thanks to the education I received from Mom, who is from the Holy City.
After all the academic tests were over, I realized something…

Maybe I should’ve intentionally made a few mistakes.
I started wondering if there would be anyone else who scored perfect marks in all subjects (sweat).

And so, the first day of the entrance exam, with its academic tests, ended without any issues.

➖➖➖Afterword from the Academic Examiner➖➖➖

I’m Louis, the examiner in charge of Room D.

As I constantly monitored the room to prevent cheating, I noticed a girl with platinum blonde hair—a rare sight among commoners—sitting idly.
I thought the test must have been really difficult for her.

Out of curiosity, I glanced at her answer sheet during my rounds, only to find that everything was filled out.
I suspected foul play, but there was no evidence to support it, so I requested additional examiners to help catch any cheating during the next 【Mathematics】 test.

The 【Mathematics】 test began.

I watched the girl closely, expecting to catch any signs of cheating, but to my astonishment, she was swiftly writing down her answers.
And within 10 minutes, she had completed her answer sheet and started daydreaming again…

The 【Holy Studies】 test was the same—she filled out the answers quickly and then sat idly…

Her exam number was 【2345】. Her name was 【Selen】.

I personally graded her tests.
The result?

A perfect score in all subjects… This was an unprecedented, outstanding score.

At that time, I had no idea that the girl named 【Selen】 would go on to become the greatest student in the history of the academy.

Episode 5: The Martial Arts Test

After the academic tests were over, I returned to the inn where we were staying and reported to Mom about the day’s tests.

「The entrance exam was so easy, I almost feel bad saying it, but it really was that simple (laugh).」

「Celestia, you’re incredibly smart, even without any bias! But be careful during tomorrow’s martial arts test, okay?」

I boasted a little about how easy the academic test was, but then Mom seemed worried about me getting injured in the martial arts test tomorrow.
Seeing her so concerned, I responded with a smile.

「Don’t worry. I won’t push myself too hard, so relax! Besides, I’m a hunter, so I’m good at dodging. I won’t even get hit♪」

「I understand. Well then, you must be hungry. Shall we go to the dining hall for dinner?」

「Yeah, let’s go to the dining hall~♪ I’m ‘starving’ since I used my brain just a little today~♪」

Holding hands with Mom, I headed to the dining hall attached to the inn.
After finishing our meal, we returned to our room, took a bath together, and then I spun the 〘Daily Gacha〙 before going to bed.

The result of the 〘Daily Gacha〙 was pretty good♪

『Gacha… 〘Elixir〙 Rank SR』
*A legendary healing potion that can heal any wound.*

The next day, I headed to the arena, which was the venue for the martial arts test.
Before entering the arena, there was a lottery for the 【Martial Arts Test Number】, which would determine the grouping for the test.

It seems the participants were divided into groups of 32 for a tournament-style competition. Unlike the academic test, this tournament wasn’t just for commoners (sweat).

When I reached into the box and drew my number, it was marked 【A-1】, so I headed to the meeting point for Group A.
It seemed I had ended up in a group full of boys (sweat).

As soon as I arrived at the Group A meeting point, one of the boys who had already gathered started talking to me in an arrogant tone.

「Hey, what number are you?」

「Um, I’m 【A-1】.」

「Hmph, so you’re up against me! You’ve got a cute face, so don’t worry—I’ll only hit your body so your face doesn’t get hurt!」

I got tangled up with a rather cocky boy right away…
Well, I figured I’d just deal with him appropriately, so I answered with a polite smile.

「Ah, please be gentle with me♪ (Smile)」

「O-okay…」

When I responded with a soft smile, the boy blushed and answered awkwardly, so I praised myself for handling it perfectly.

After waiting at the meeting point for a while, the examiner arrived and explained the rules of the martial arts test. The content of the test was as follows:

1. The martial arts test will be conducted in a tournament format with 32 participants, focusing on the basics of combat in person-to-person encounters.

2. Losing in the first round doesn’t mean you fail, but of course, progressing further will leave a better impression.

3. Since this is a martial arts test, if any excessively dangerous actions are taken, the participant will be immediately disqualified.

If I want to make it to the finals, I’ll have to fight five matches.
Winning the tournament would make me stand out too much, so I decided my goal would be to lose in the finals (laugh).

「Alright, let’s begin the Group A martial arts tournament. The first match will be between Selen and Cantera. Both of you, step into the arena!」

「Yes!」

When Cantera and I stepped into the arena, I heard a murmur from the surrounding spectators.

「So that’s Cantera, the son of Baron Carden, the captain of the Imperial Defense Corps, right?」

「Yeah, I’ve heard he’s strong. It’s too bad his opponent is just a commoner girl (laughs).」

Hmm, so Cantera is really strong, huh?
Does that mean I’ll have to go all out?

While I was thinking about it, the examiner signaled the start of the match.
