Chapter 3
Episode 11: Pluton
Ten days have passed since I started investigating this world. Most of what I learned came from the neighborhood ladies.
The name of this world is 【Pluton】, and it seems there are seven continents.
The continent we live on is called 【Balena Continent】, and there are four countries on this continent.
It seems I am a citizen of one of those countries, the 【Kingdom of Leone】.
The town where I live is a rural town called 【Criceto Town】, located in the 【Volpe Province】, governed by 【Margrave Angelo】 in the southern part of the 【Kingdom of Leone】.
Because this is a rural area rather than a city, we have kind and helpful neighbors who, despite being poor, help each other out.
The Kingdom of Leone has a hierarchical system with the following ranks:
The top is the 【Royal Family】, followed by the 【Duke’s House】, which is said to be of royal blood.
Next are the nobles: the 【Marquis’ House】, the highest rank of nobility involved in politics; the 【Margrave’s House】, a military noble rank that guards the borders; and the 【Count’s House】, 【Viscount’s House】, and 【Baron’s House】, ranks given for contributions to the country.
Lastly, there are the 【Commoners】.
Among commoners, there are wealthy and poor classes.
I belong to the lowest class of poor commoners, which would typically be considered the losing side, but with my wonderful mom, I consider myself on the winning side!
Next, about magic, there are six magic elements called 【Fire】, 【Water】, 【Earth】, 【Wind】, 【Light】, and 【Darkness】, and a special magic known as 【Abyss】.
The only magic I can use, 〘Life Magic〙, belongs to the 【Abyss】 category, but because its magical effects are low, it’s considered insignificant.
Well, even though it’s insignificant, it’s the best magic for me because it helps my mom!
After I started selling drinking water as well as filling the baths with 〘Water〙 at the inn, I began earning 15 copper coins daily.
My 〘Life Magic〙 is extremely helpful to Mom, making it the best magic ever!

Episode 12: Academy
I spent ten days investigating this world with the help of the neighborhood ladies, but I also kept up with my daily running and self-training.
Here are the results of my ten days of 〘Daily Gacha〙:

I got some pretty good items this time!
When I appraised the B Rank item, the 〘Magic Bag〙, it turned out to be a bag that can hold up to 200kg and is worth 10 gold coins at a magical tool specialty shop—quite a valuable item.
The other item, the 〘Green Dress〙, was an adult-sized dress, so I gave it to Mom, and she was delighted!
「Thank you, Selen! This dress will be my treasure for life! Your 〘Daily Gacha〙 is really an amazing skill!」
Even though it was just a regular dress, she was so incredibly happy!
Mom’s smile is so powerful, I almost fainted.
I wonder if I can become as beautiful as Mom someday.
On a different note, I found out a bit about schools.
There doesn’t seem to be a school in 【Criceto Town】 where I live.
However, there is a facility called the 【Academy】, although I’m not sure how it differs from a school.
The academy allows you to study for a period of six months, and you can learn there as many times as you want until you turn 15.
It seems you can choose to study courses like 【Adventurer Training Course】, 【Commercial Course】, 【Sewing Course】, 【Cooking Course】, and 【Agricultural Course】.
I want to study the 【Adventurer Training Course】 when I turn six.
They teach everything from gathering to defeating monsters.
Until I draw a combat skill from the 〘Daily Gacha〙, I’ll take on herb gathering quests.
I’ll learn other courses while working as an adventurer.
I’ll study hard and repay Mom with everything I’ll learn!

Episode 13: 1st Anniversary Gacha
I just turned six years old!
I’ve grown a bit, and my hair now reaches my waist, making me look a lot more like Mom.
Even leading up to my birthday, I kept using the 〘Daily Gacha〙, but most of the time I only got copper coins…
Still, I did manage to get one skill, 〘Presence Detection〙 Rank A!
I would’ve preferred elemental magic, but I can’t complain about an A rank skill（laugh).
While helping with the morning water fetching, the neighborhood ladies gave me many birthday wishes.
「Happy sixth birthday, Selen!」

After finishing the greetings and helping with the water fetching, I did my running training until lunchtime.
When I got back home before lunch, Mom called out to me.
「Welcome back, Selen. We’re going to celebrate your birthday with rabbit cream stew for dinner, so look forward to it!」
「Yay! That’s my favorite, Mom! I love you so much!」
「I love you so much too, my dear!」
After lunch, I went to the inn to fill the bathtubs with water using 〘Water〙, which helped deplete my magic power.
After finishing my work at the inn and before dinner, I did magic power training.
I used 〘Wind〙 to ensure my magic power was down to 5 before bed.
By the time I got home, it was finally time for the much-anticipated dinner!
The table was set with my favorite rabbit cream stew and soft white bread.
When I sat down, Mom hugged me from behind.
「Selen, thank you for being born to me. I love you so much!」
「Mom, thank you for giving birth to me. I love you so much too!」
After exchanging our usual words, we enjoyed dinner and talked about many things, celebrating my birthday with a joyful time.
At the end of the day, as I was about to use the 〘Daily Gacha〙, I heard a voice in my mind.

Episode 14: Mom’s Decision

I woke up normally the next morning.
Getting the long-awaited elemental magic made me super excited even though I had just woken up! (Joy)
I already knew about 〘Water Magic〙, but I decided to appraise it anyway.

〘Water Magic〙: One of the six elemental magics. It can be used for attack, defense, and healing, making it a versatile magic akin to 〘Light Magic〙. The power of the magic depends on the skill level and the user’s magic power.
Oh! This is beyond my expectations!
I never imagined it could even be used for healing.
〘Water Magic〙 is the best!
I’ll practice magic with my remaining magic power after my work at the inn and helping the neighbors.
I went out of my room, greeted Mom, helped with the water fetching, and then reported to Mom during breakfast about my 〘Water Magic〙.
「Mom, guess what? I got 〘Water Magic〙 from yesterday’s 〘Daily Gacha〙!」
「You got 〘Water Magic〙? That’s amazing. But… if the country finds out about it, they might take you away somewhere to train you as a valuable healer. Isn’t that worrying?」
「What… Is that possible? During the skill appraisal ceremony, it only showed 〘Daily Gacha〙. If I keep quiet about 〘Water Magic〙, it’ll be fine, right? I don’t want to be separated from you, Mom (cry).」
It seems that valuable healers are highly regarded in every country, and the skill appraisal ceremony is used to discover such talents.
Those with precious skills might be taken to the royal capital.
Thinking that I might have to be separated from Mom, I started crying. Mom gently hugged me.
「Selen, you must keep your 〘Water Magic〙 a secret. And go to the adventurer training course at the academy as we discussed before. After you finish learning there, we’ll leave this town and move to a place where no one knows us. You can use your magic there and become an adventurer.」
I had told Mom before that I wanted to be an adventurer.
Because of that and now having learned 〘Water Magic〙, Mom suggested that we move.
「Yes, I’ll do my best at the academy.」
Mom decided to leave this familiar town for my sake.
She will stay with me forever…
I swore to make Mom happy… as yet, once again, she saved me.
I swore to the gods that I would protect and make Mom happy.
With that vow in my heart, I started attending the academy to learn the basics of being an adventurer in the adventurer training course.
