Episode 15: Adventurer Training Course
As planned with Mom, I started attending the adventurer training course held at the academy.
The course runs for six months, with classes three times a week. At the end of the course, there is a certification exam.
If you pass, you receive a certificate that you can submit to the Adventurers’ Guild to register as an adventurer.
Since attending the adventurer course might raise my stats, I decided to check my current stats first.

If I work hard and earn the certification, it will lead directly to a new life as an adventurer after Mom and I move to a new town.
I arrived at the academy for the first day of the adventurer training course.
Along with the other 15 participants, I waited in the classroom when a distinguished older man with gray hair walked in.
「I am 【Darren】. Over the next six months, I will drill the basics of being an adventurer into you. Learn well so you don’t die immediately!」
After Darren’s greeting, he handed out tattered parchment scrolls that seemed to be our textbooks.
The scrolls explained the basics of 【Gathering】. It looked like we would be thoroughly learning about 【Gathering】starting tomorrow.
Suddenly, one boy shouted out.
「I didn’t become an adventurer to do this boring stuff! Teach us about subjugation already!」
Darren-sensei grinned and replied.
「Oh, you think you can jump straight into monster subjugation as an adventurer? You need to complete gathering quests properly and raise your rank first, or subjugation will be impossible.」
「Heh, I can just gather whatever and be done with it, right?」
「Listen, kid. Even for gathering quests, if you keep failing, your adventurer license will be revoked. If you think you can do it easily, then don’t attend the next classroom session. Instead, tomorrow, you will do gathering alone. If you succeed, I will make an exception and register you as an adventurer. But if you fail, you will not be allowed to participate in the adventurer training course anymore.」
「Fine, I can’t wait for the outdoor lesson tomorrow (laugh).」
The first day of the adventurer training course started with a big commotion due to the boy’s outburst…
I thought I’d be learning in a more calm environment (sweat).

Episode 16: Gathering Knowledge
The next day, the gathering class started at the academy.
Dan, the guy who mocked the gathering class, wasn’t allowed to enter the classroom and had to wait outside until the outdoor lesson began.
「The primary materials needed for gathering are herbs for medicines and potions. There are various types of herbs, and delivering the wrong ones will cause trouble for pharmacists and alchemists, so be careful. Many herbs look similar, so study the characteristics listed on the parchment I gave you yesterday and memorize them well.」
「Yes.」
We continued to receive tips from Darren-sensei on identifying herbs and their habitats.
I diligently took notes on these tips to ensure I could identify the herbs during the outdoor lesson, but the other students were just listening without taking notes (sweat).
After Darren-sensei’s class ended and we took a break, we went outside Poro Town to a grassland for the outdoor herb-gathering lesson.
Dan joined us for the outdoor lesson.
「Alright, everyone is here! Now, each of you will gather herbs in this grassland. Today, you’ll gather herbs needed for healing potions. You have one hour to collect them and return here. Begin!」
「Yes!」
The outdoor lesson started, and I began searching for herbs with my notes in hand.
The herbs needed for healing potions were 【Asuku Grass】 and 【Meru Grass】, which needed to be carefully uprooted.
I found something that looked like Asuku Grass and confirmed its leaf shape.
「Alright, this is definitely Asuku Grass.」
After confirming, I gently dug around the roots and carefully pulled it out to avoid damaging them.
I finally collected one Asuku Grass.
This was quite a difficult task (sweat).
I continued to carefully gather the required number of herbs.
When I returned to the meeting spot, I realized I was the last one back… even though it was before the time limit, it felt awkward (sweat).
When Darren-sensei saw I had returned, he called out to everyone.
「Alright, there’s still a bit of time left, but since everyone is here, we’ll head to the Adventurers’ Guild to have your gathered herbs assessed.」
As Darren-sensei led us towards the Adventurers’ Guild in Poro Town, Dan approached him.
「Hey, you remember yesterday’s promise, right?」
「Yeah, I remember that you’ll be expelled from the adventurer training course today.」
「No, the promise to register me as an adventurer if I successfully gathered herbs!」
「Yes, and once we assess the herbs at the guild, we’ll see how foolish you are. Now come along!」
「Tomorrow, I’ll be an adventurer (laugh).」
Dan, please read the room (sweat).
It’s making things uncomfortable for everyone…
We followed Darren-sensei to the Adventurers’ Guild in Poro Town, where we had our gathered herbs assessed.

Episode 17: Assessment Results (Part 1)
The students of the adventurer training course lined up one by one at the reception counter to have their gathered herbs assessed.
The assessment criteria were at the same level as those for regular adventurers.
If they failed to provide the required number of herbs for healing potions, it would be considered incomplete.
I thought this was quite strict for our first lesson.
「Now, we’ll begin the assessment of the students from the adventurer training course. Please prepare to submit the herbs you gathered.」
The pretty lady at the reception called out to us.
「Hmph, I’ll go first! Here you go!」
Dan stepped up arrogantly and roughly tossed his herbs onto the counter.
The moment he did that, the pretty receptionist swung a wooden fan she was holding and struck Dan hard.
He was sent flying, rolling across the floor.
As he lay there, the lady addressed him sternly.
「Young man, it’s good to be spirited, but that disrespectful attitude is unacceptable. Did you take on this gathering quest without knowing the types and amounts of herbs needed for healing potions?」
「Ugh… What the hell… I gave you the herbs… Just process it, old lady!」
「Despite submitting nothing but weeds, you still have that attitude? You lack the proper respect towards your superiors. It seems some education is in order.」
The lady walked over to Dan and jabbed him in the solar plexus with her fan, making him pass out.
After giving Dan a light kick, she glared at Darren-sensei.
「Darren, this one is no good. He has no qualities of an adventurer.」
「Sorry, Sis… I didn’t think he was this foolish…」
「Hmph, just throw him outside for now. We’ll resume the remaining assessments after you do.」
Darren-sensei dragged Dan by his hair and tossed him outside the guild building.
When he returned, the remaining assessments resumed, but we were all frozen in place.
Seeing how a wrong response to the receptionist could lead to being dealt with like Dan made us all tense up (sweat).
I realized that the receptionists at the adventurers’ guild could be quite intimidating.
The image of friendly and bubbly receptionists from fantasy novels was just that… a fantasy.

Episode 18: Assessment Results (Part 2)
After the shocking sight of Darren-sensei tossing Dan, who had been beaten by the lady, out of the building, everyone was on edge, and the atmosphere was incredibly tense.
In this heavy atmosphere, the lady picked the next person for assessment.
「Alright, let’s resume the assessment. Next, the girl in the cute light blue dress.」
「Ah, yes, thank you very much.」
I was next…
Was my response okay? Did I gather the right herbs for the healing potion? What if I get disciplined like Dan?
With these thoughts swirling in my head, I submitted the required two types of herbs and awaited the results.
「This is wonderful! You’ve gathered the correct two types of herbs, carefully dug up by the roots, and bundled them neatly. It’s as if you’re a professional gatherer! No complaints, you pass.」
「Ah, th-thank you very much. I was able to do it thanks to Darren-sensei’s clear lessons.」
I was so nervous that I stumbled over my words (sweat).
Then, the lady asked for my name.
「What’s your name, dear?」
「I’m Selen, daughter of Carme, who lives in the longhouse.」
「!? Carmen-sama… I mean, Carme-san’s daughter? You do look like her. Selen, keep up the good work.」
「Ah, yes! Um, do you know my mom?」
「Of course! Carme from the town tavern is famous for her beauty.」
「Really? If you know any stories about her that I don’t, please tell me.」
「Sure, I will.」
「Thank you!」
After my assessment, the tense atmosphere lightened, and a more relaxed mood took over.
The assessments were completed, and the class ended.
However, I was the only one who passed.
After a brief lecture from Darren-sensei, we disbanded at the adventurers’ guild and went home.
I couldn’t wait to tell Mama about being praised during the outdoor class and to get her praise in return♪
Later, after being thoroughly praised by Mama, I did my daily gacha before bed.
