In the case of enhancement drugs, the base body is a human being. Even if they were enhanced to the point that they looked different, they were still originally human beings. There’s a limit to how much their physical and magical abilities can be enhanced.

But Corrupted Fusion is different. As the name suggests, this procedure fuses humans with monsters.

If the power of the fusion subjects are balanced, this magic creates something in-between human and monster. If the fusion subject is weak, the monster can only be used to boost the power of the human being.

However, if the fusion is with a monster that’s too strong, there will be no human left. It becomes a fusion in name only, when in reality, it’s transforming humans into monsters.

One might wonder if there was really a point in using a monster to create another monster, but this magic has a feature—the human form remains unchanged during the fusion process. I have no idea why it works that way since I don’t know the details of the technique, but a human in the process of fusion is indistinguishable from an ordinary human. There have been enemies in BBO who would take advantage of this and send in monsters that mimic humans (although calling it mimicking is inaccurate, since they’re humans until the fusion is complete).

And the monsters created by Corrupted Fusion are extremely strong for their size. Almost as powerful as Raid Bosses, they’re the Garden of Despair’s trump card in BBO.

The fact that they sent a Corrupted Fusion monster, which can be used for other purposes, shows how serious the Garden of Despair is. I’m a little curious as to why they hadn’t used it until now. Maybe it was just recently completed. An enemy that has existed since the early days of BBO, the Garden of Despair is an organization that has grown in power over time through its inhuman research practices.

But we’ll save that topic for later. First, I need to take down this dragon. I’m not fast enough to escape, and it’s not a monster that can be trapped in a dungeon cell.

This dragon is probably the type of monster that we called a Dwarf Dragon in BBO. To be honest, it’s not an opponent that a Sage with my level of gear and Skills can defeat alone.

Unlike the Heaven-rending Lightning Dragon, I can’t dodge all its attacks either. I would say that it’s more of a pure test of your Skills and the quality of your gear rather than whether or not you know how to defeat it. And if someone asks me if my Skills and equipment quality is enough… then it’s a no, unfortunately. At the very least, I would need at least two more people—preferably three—who are as strong as me.

If I fight this guy, the only person I could use as a partner would be Mylia, but unfortunately she’s not here right now. I’ll have to fight alone. Calling in soldiers would only result in them dying in vain. In terms of capabilities, they’re absolutely useless.

However, BBO is a game with quite a long history. Sages, the most powerful class in the game, had devised countless ways to fight, and even if they’re a little underpowered, they had come up with a way to defeat a Dwarf Dragon… is what I’d like to say, but I have never heard of anyone defeating a Dwarf Dragon with this level of gear.

To begin with, it’s not a monster with amazing drops, so there’s no point in coming up with various strategies against it. It’s also not infamous enough to be killed in a solo quest, so there’s not much information available on it. If I checked a walkthrough site, the “how to defeat a Dwarf Dragon” page would probably say something like, “Get better gear.”

“I just have to wing it, I guess.”

There’s no established strategy against Dwarf Dragons. At least, not with my current equipment.

But that doesn’t mean they can’t be defeated. If there’s no established strategy, I can just formulate one on the spot.

“I don’t need reinforcements! No one comes in until the battle is over!”

First I gave strict instructions to the king and the soldiers outside. They were probably checking the situation. Unfortunately, I can’t expect anything from them, so it would be better if no one came.

Even the weak can help if there’s many of them… can only be applied to human wars between large armies. When you need to fight meticulously, others butting in can backfire in many cases. With this, I can focus on figuring out how to defeat this monster one-on-one.

There have been several times when I came up with ways to defeat a Boss that no one had killed yet. In fact, I came to this world right after I defeated a boss that no one had ever taken down before. It was not uncommon for my own strategies to be featured on walkthrough sites.

“Now, then. How do I do this?”

There are two main ways to defeat a powerful boss. One is to just fire a high-powered attack before they could counter. This is the method I’ve used most often.

However, this method can’t be used this time. For an instant high-power attack, I would use Steam Explosion, but wide-area explosion magic is awful against Dwarf Dragons.

Dwarf Dragons are small but sturdy. Because the area subjected to a blast is smaller, it’s less susceptible to the effects of explosions. Of course, Steam Explosion has enough power to blow away ordinary monsters and humans, regardless of size, but Dwarf Dragons, despite their small size, have more durability than ordinary dragons.

Even if I hit it with all the spells I had, it would take a lot to take it down. During that time, there’s no way I won’t be hit by counterattacks. A Dwarf Dragon’s smaller size allows it to move quickly, and it’s impossible to avoid their attacks, so fighting without getting hit back will be hard.
