78 – Bewitching Witch
『Huh, giant tits in the sky.』 said the holy sword Mika.
It looks like the owner of that voice is using Wind Elemental magic to float in the air, but from this angle, we can’t see her face. This was due to her, as Mika put it, giant tits. Her twin mounds were blocking our line of sight. Her large breasts looked like they were swaying in the wind. Am I seeing things?
I knew who this person was. During my audience with the king where I was informed about this global crisis, the Seven, the Demon King Army’s Big Four, and other people of similar strength were gathered. She was there.
「I came because I sensed a tremendous amount of mana, but I should have known it had something to do with you, Sir Hero.」
She descends gently. Once again, the kids turned their attention this way. I nodded to say “It’s okay.” and they all returned to playing.
She has alluring deep, long purple hair, and a scandalous dress-like attire that leaves nothing to the imagination. She wore a black veil over her eyes. When I looked closely, I could see that they were transparent. It looked like a witch’s wedding dress.
She is the tallest among all the women that I know. Her face was both seductive and gentle. She had a mole near her mouth. She radiated sex appeal, you could say. The magic staff held in her right hand was made of a lustrous black material, and the purple jewel sandwiched between two curved tips gave off a mysterious light.
Of the Big Four, I personally know three of them. Eleanor, Madge, and the lion Beastman Leo. The last one is a veteran male magic user, and she happens to be his daughter. She has practically taken over her father’s duties now, and she leads the magic corps.
「The Bewitching Witch Mage, I see」 Alchemy seems to know of her too. I wonder if it’s from the sharing of information as part of our combined efforts.
「Oh my. For the Lady Sage to know about little ol’ me – I am honored.」
She puts her free hand to her face as she smiles a bashful smile.
「I possess no information that states that you are close to Rain. What business do you have?」
「How scary, Lady Sage. Give us a little smile. I’m sure you’d look even more beautiful.」
「State your business.」
「How cold…」
Mage pouted her lips for a moment, but she soon gave a little smile. 「I merely wished to meet the strongest magic user among mankind. You need not be so cautious, please.」
「Then, you have achieved your goal. Please leave this place immediately.」
「Are you mad because I interrupted your little chat with your beloved student?」
「…I shall take that as a provocation.」 Alchemy motioned to raise her staff and Mage…smirked.
「Oh my, oh my my. That was not my intention at all…but now that an opportunity has presented itself, why let it go to waste?」 In response, Mage, too, raises her staff. But as soon as she does that, Alchemy lowers hers.
「Oh?」
「So, you truly were aiming to test my ability. Unfortunately, I have no interest in complying.」
Mage opened her eyes wide in surprise. 「My, you pretended to be angry in order to suss out my true intentions? I could’ve sworn you were serious. Was it my imagination?」
「You were mistaken.」
「Is that so…? I wanted to directly test the strength of the strongest magic user, but…」
「In that case, you have the wrong opponent. Rain is far stronger than I.」
「Ufufu, I know that all too well.」
「……」
「However, I am talking about strength in terms of pure magic ability.」
「Pride, huh?」
「Pride, yes.」 Mage nodded, smiling.
「There is a man named Leo among the Big Four, however, I am no match for him in direct combat. As soon as the battle started, he would tear me to pieces before I could even cast any magic. But, I do not hold any shame about that. In real combat, who wins and who loses can change in all manner of ways depending on pre-battle preparation and how one acts. I have no interest in comparing ability values written on paper like character sheets.」
「I can understand that.」
「Thank you very much. Back to the matter at hand, Sir Hero is strong not only as a warrior, but as a magic user as well. One could say that he is a magic warrior. It is clear that I won’t reach his level of ability, and I would be lying if I said I am not even slightly frustrated about that; but I truly feel no shame in that regard.」
「But you feel the opposite towards those in the same field?」
「Just so. Among the Big Four, Elly is a magic warrior, Madgy is an assassin that makes full use of magic, and Leo is a warrior. There are few pure magic users. I have already surpassed my father.」
When battling to the death, people with differing fields of expertise often meet. With that in mind, they think about how to win. Sentiments like frustration over how the enemy is physically stronger than you, or envy over how they can use magic that you can’t are useless.
Mage can clearly distinguish the two. But, when it comes to “Pure magic user”, it’s not that simple. There are many people like that on the human side as well. Even against Demons who can be taken out from long range, there are those who would challenge them to a close-range battle to the end. There are also those passionate ones who don’t give up, doing inefficient and illogical things.
I suppose for Mage, it is her pride as a magic user. For someone like me, who has no preference when it comes to how I fight, I don’t get it; but I think someone like the Swordmaster would understand. He looks irresponsible, but he’s a serious swordsman.
「There is no benefit to fighting you.」
「Don’t say that.」 Mage’s tone was calm and gentle, but she wasn’t backing down.
『Whatever, but you mind doing this somewhere else? This is a children’s playground.』
When Mika said that, I recalled my uneasiness.
…Oh, that’s right. If she wanted to challenge Alchemy, it would’ve been better if it wasn’t right now. She said she came running because she sensed a surge of mana, but what if that was her true intention? Doesn’t that mean that there’s a reason for her challenging Alchemy while I’m around?
「Well then, allow me to prepare an incentive. Sir Hero.」
I was confused at her suddenly bringing me into this. 「Me?」
「The winner shall receive a reward from Sir Hero. What do you say?」
『Could you not just rope Rain into this?』
「What rubbish.」
『Huh, that’s a rare reaction…』 said Mika with mixed feelings.
「Then I win by default and the reward shall go to me. Sir Hero, you wish to know normal things, yes?」
「Hm? Yeah, that’s right.」
With me sitting on the bench, Mage kneels down between my legs, one hand crawling up to my chin. It’s an odd posture where the tip of my chin is sandwiched in between her cleavage. I felt something like an electric current shoot up and down my back. What wafted up was a dizzyingly sweet aroma.
『Now wait a…!』
「Sir Hero is all grown up. He is a fine gentleman. Which would make now as good a time as any for him to experience what adult men and women normally do when they love each other. What do you say? I would be honored if Sir Hero would have m-Oh my.」
The tip of Alchemy’s staff was pointed at Mage’s head.
「Your jest goes too far.」
「But I was serious…」
