Volume 5 Chapter 32: The Good Journey
With the defeat of the Ouroboros, various changes began to unfold in the Spirit City.
One of these changes was cleansing of the Spirit Spring.
It seemed that the cause of the contamination had indeed been the Ouroboros, and now the water of the Spirit Spring had regained its clear and pure color.
According to Parum, while some residual taint still lingered, within a few days, it would be usable for weapon refinement again.
Besides the Spirit Spring, several other issues caused by the Ouroboros had been resolved as well, all of which mean positive improvements.
All of which was great, however, some of those changes also affected us directly, and—
「U-uh, I’m really sorry… We weren’t able to send you back properly.」
「Parum-san, you don’t have to apologize. No one expected the Spirit Road will be impossible to open for a while because of what happened with the Ouroboros.」
Yes, being consumed by the Ouroboros and also used as the battleground during the fight, the Spirit Road became unusable for a period of time.
「According to Lorie, it’s going to need some adjustments or something.」
She tried to open the Spirit Road after the fight, but 『Oh, I can’t make large enough for a person to pass. Let’s switch it to just circulating mana for now and fix things up!』.was what she ended up saying.
「Sorry, but we can’t even give you an estimate on when it’ll be restored…」
「Well, after such a battle, it’s not surprising. We’ve just been stuck here temporarily. At least now we have a place to stay, and Parum is taking good care of us.」
We were staying in a guest room within the palace. But Parum arranged everything from an inn to the smallest details as an apology for the current situation.
Oh, and by the way, Daisy, who was together with me, also ended up stuck here.
「Hey, buddy, did you know there’s a hot spring inside the palace?」
She said that while looking at a palace guide set up on the desk in the guest room.
「A hot spring inside the palace? That sounds interesting.」
「Yup! Let’s check it out later, buddy!」

As we spoke leisurely, Parum watched us wide-eyed, seemingly surprised.

Since our main reason for coming to the Spirit City hasn’t been fulfilled yet, there’s no need to rush back.
「The Spirit Spring is recovering, so we have time until it’s fully functional. Might as well find some work or tasks here while we’re stuck.」
「Sounds good, buddy. I’ll tag along. Not many chances to come here.」
As we spoke casually, Parum suddenly interrupted, looking more serious.
「Um… Axel-san, Daisy-san, I hate to bring up such a serious topic in those circumstances, but may I have a word with you both?」
Parum’s expression was different from the usual polite smile or apologetic look, if anything, it was marked by sadness.
「A serious talk? What’s it about?」
I asked back, to which Parum took a deep breath before replying—
「I have a request for the two of you who managed to save the Spirit City… Please, can you save the Spirit Princess? She’s suffering from a grave illness and is fighting for her life.」
