Volume 6 Chapter 22: Celebration and Return
After finishing the trial journey with Laurie, we returned to the Spirit City at a speed far faster than when we left.
It was thanks to Laurie’s legs being able to move again. And the fact that we didn’t have to worry about the exhaustion of supplies from our journey—just being able to move freely boosted our speed considerably.
As soon as we returned, the people of the city greeted us with excitement.
Not just the members of the Spirit Guild, but everyone in the palace—those who knew about Laurie’s leg situation—were all there.
When they saw Laurie walking and moving on her own two legs, some of them even teared up.
「We have to celebrate this…!!」 they exclaimed.
And so, the feast began.
There was some concern, especially from Parum, about whether it was safe for someone just recovering from an illness to drink, but…
「The alcohol of the Spirit Realm isn’t that strong. And more importantly, I think it’s wrong to not enjoy myself because of worrying about me,」
Lorie said, and with that, the celebration continued.
「Thank you for saving the princess… but even though her legs are better now, it seems like her stubbornness is still very much intact…」
「Well, I guess that’s just Lorie for you.」
And so, I was thanked by Parum, chatted with various people, ate, drank, and enjoyed the feast.
Then, a few days later, when our rest was about to end.
「Just now, the reopening of the Spirit Road has been completed!」
Came such a report. And so,
「Well then, thanks for everything, Parum.」
We were now standing in the center of the Spirit City, in front of the Spirit Gate.
Right next to us, Parum, who had come to see us off.
「No, no. I should be the one thanking you. Of course, to you, Axel-san, and also to Daisy-san, who provided alchemy services for the damaged facilities…」
「No need to worry about that. I don’t often get the chance to do large-scale repairs, so it was fun.」
Daisy replies, smiling cheerfully beside me.
「I’m glad to hear that. And above all, thank you for helping the princess get her energetic self back, Axel-san…!」
Parum bowed slightly as she said that.
「Haha, you don’t have to worry about it, Parum. That was the job I was asked to do.」
Just as I said that, I heard another voice from beside me.
「Actually, Parum, I should be the one saying thank you. You were the one who actually helped. So, as I’ve said many times before, I’ll say it again. Thank you, Axel.」
When I looked in the direction of the voice, there was Lorie.
She was fully prepared for travel, smiling at us.
「Yeah, I’ll accept your thanks, but… what’s Lorie doing here?」
When I asked, she proudly showed off her outfit and said,
「I’m going with you.」
「Going? Do you have something to do?」
「Yes, I want to go to the Medical Guild’s Botan to report on my recovery and thank them. I also plan to get a check-up just in case.」
「Ah… That’s important.」
Just because she was healed didn’t mean she could just say that’s it and forget about everything.
If she has been under their care, she should get a check-up, too.
And they must be worried on the other side as well.
It’s best to see everyone in person and put them at ease. That’s why,
「Well then, I guess we’ll be transporting you to the Medical Guild next?」
When I casually said that, she nodded just as casually.
「Yes, that would be the request. Is that alright?」
「Of course, it’s no trouble at all.」
Parum, who had been quietly watching our exchange, seemed to know Lorie’s purpose and didn’t show any signs of panic. Instead, she bowed politely to me.
「Axel, please take good care of the princess in the Human World.」
「Yeah, I got it.」
After we finished exchanging the usual farewells, we…
「Well then, let’s go.」
To return to the human world, we step through the Spirit Gate.
The next instant, we were enveloped in light.
