Chapter 271 part 2

A storm raged as if forbidding any being to stand upon the earth.

Countless raindrops fell, threatening to pierce through metal armor and flesh all in one piece.

And innumerable thunderbolts resembled the judgment of a god that shattered everything.

In this place where even average superhumans, not to mention regular people, would be doomed upon entry, supernatural phenomena were occurring. Proof of the abnormally harsh environment was evident in that only two living beings were present.

One was Yaheim, the Demon King of Mundus Carnus, who had fought Lenia and boldly declared his desire to marry her after the battle.

Holding the divine sword Galandain, wearing the same armor but now with a new forehead patch, this formidable Demon King stared down the giant wolf responsible for the storm.

This wolf, possessing a spiritual stature matching that extraordinary one of Yaheim, a descendant of Sacurabus the God of War, was Natzag. He was the current emperor of the Rohan Empire that held a large territory in the western part of The Dark Wilderness, and the guardian form of the Wolf God was his transformation.

In Rohan, accompanied by black clouds that shut out the sky and a cold wind, the power of the Wolf God racing across the Plains had brought a fierce tempest to the border area between the Dark Wilderness and the Plains, which now had become a battlefield.

Yaheim, the mightiest Demon King of Mundus Carnus, would have had difficulty even breathing in the atmosphere filled with the Wolf God’s divine essence without relying on the protection of the divine sword Galandain, the armor Venaria reserved only for Demon King and his own divine powers.

Yaheim smiled with a mix of distaste and joy at Natzag, with a stature dozens of times larger than an ordinary wolf. In front of him stood a rare and worthy adversary demanding his full strength.

Without feeling joy in this challenge, he could not call himself a descendant of the God of War.

「You big furball, how dare you obstruct our pat! If you weren’t such a hindrance, it wouldn’t make for much of an obstacle trying to impede our advance westward!」

As Yaheim provocatively exuded his surging battle intent, Natzag, still in his giant wolf form, responded to Yaheim’s provocation. As young leaders waging aggressive wars for continental supremacy, they were each other’s destined enemies.

Yaheim, having unified the various forces of the Dark Wilderness, moved westward seeking the fertile lands there, only to be thwarted by the steadfast defense of the Rohan Empire under Natzag’s command.
Conversely, should the Rohan Empire pursue the traditional expansion policies and attempt to march its army for further conquests, it would find its rear threatened by Yaheim’s Demon armies.

This dynamic has cemented Yaheim and Natzag as fierce competitors and sworn enemies, deeply aware of each other’s presence and power.

「That the only one who can oppose me the furball is the Demon King himself means the so-called Demon Lord Army is made up of unexpectedly unworthy fellows!」

After Natzag, still in his wolf form, answered Yaheim, the storm raging around him intensified in response to his voice. This created an exceptionally fierce and deadly wind blow, surpassing the barrier of sound and defying all norms. The blow was aimed to strike Yaheim.

「I need no one else to wipe a mere animal like you!」

The red crystal on Yaheim’s forehead glowed intensely. The glow from this unique organ, which controlled his magical and divine powers, formed a robust, invisible barrier around him, protecting the Demon King’s body from harm.

「You dare to be irreverent towards me, the Great King of the Plains and Emperor of the Rohan Empire!?」

「And YOU dare to be disrespectful to the king who commands the power of demons!?」

The tip of Galandain was shifted backward and became infused with Yaheim’s magical power and combat fervor. The slashes were then unleashed towards the encroaching storm from all directions.

「Blast away. Tempest Dira!」

Originally designed for battles where one faced many, especially against vastly outnumbering forces by tens of thousands, this technique released a simultaneous burst of deep crimson light slashes from Galandain in all directions. It temporarily dispersed the storm attacking Yaheim and then turned the attacks towards Natzag.

「Come on!」

The extremely enormous wolf raised its right forelimb high, shattering the incoming crimson slashes with a single swipe of its claws. The wolf then reared back and unleashed a thunderous roar.

Accompanied by the tempest, the howl of the Wolf God galloped across the Plains and transformed into more than four hundred bolts of lightning that descended from the sky, converging on Yaheim like a swarm of ravenous serpents of light.

Yaheim’s ability to counter these four hundred lightning strikes was solely due to his divine powers. His body moved instinctively, outpacing the speed of lightning.

「How absurd to think mere thunder could kill me!」

Yaheim stepped forward, quicker than the lightning strikes, slicing through the barrage like bullets to strike at the Wolf God. Momentarily, the Emperor who was in the the guardian form, and the Demon King, who truly descended from a god, clashed fiercely.

「Grrraaaah!」

Natzag had been tracking Yaheim’s movements and realized he was into attack rage. He then forcefully slammed his massive left foreleg down towards him.

Realizing dodging was impossible, Yaheim raised Galandain overhead to block the wolf’s upcoming massive limb.

「Hah, just a big brute!」

Yaheim’s body was buried up to his waist in the ground from the impact. The shockwave rippled deep into the earth. This created a surreal sight as the ground undulated, peeled, and lifted up, shattering into fragments.

Withstanding the blow, Yaheim channeled all his strength into his comparatively slender arms against Natzag’s foreleg, and with a spirited roar, he repelled the foreleg with great force.

「Haaaaaaah!」

Thrown off balance and inflicted by the Galandain, Natzag grimaced in pain and slight bleeding from the wound on the underside of his foreleg. He lowered his massive form to prepare for the second and third waves of attack.

Yaheim again charged Galandain with all his magical and divine power, ready to confront and obliterate the incarnation of the great Wolf God.

The epic battle between Natzag, the Emperor of the Rohan Empire, who wished to eliminate future threats, and Yaheim, the Demon King of Mundus Carnus with ambitions to invade the western continent, spanned three days and nights, reminiscent of ancient godly wars.

This conflict ended in a stalemate, with both Natzag and Yaheim severely weakened as a consequence of their god-like exertions.

After the battle, both individuals were retrieved by the Rohan Empire’s army and the Demon King’s army, who had been waiting outside the tempest and thunder battleground. They were then receiving the finest medical treatment available.

Yaheim, still clad in his battle armor, was surrounded by the army’s healers and medics, and they were striving to help him recover as fast as possible.

Given the intensity of the battle, absolute rest would typically be required. However, the Demon King, eyeing his next move, refused to remain bedridden and instead opted to sit atop a special bed designed to replenish his strength and magic and hasten healing. He engaged in discussions with his chief vassals who had gathered around.
