Chapter 77 – Part 2

And finally, the last person was the one who had killed the most enemies out of all the five bodyguards.

Giving off the impression of cooling off in the conjured wind of her summoned wind spirit, with her golden blonde hair flowing in it, she wore a simple cape-like robe, made of the feathers of sacred birds and Yggrasil’s leaves layered over each other. She was a High Elf, holding in her hand a staff that looked like a tree branch, and with every swing of the staff, dozens of demon soldiers in front of her path would be sent flying.

It was the one who is the headmaster of Galois Magic Academy, and is the leader of the Wood Elves; none other than Olivier.

Rumored to be deeply involved in the founding of Arcrest Kingdom, the brave High Elf woman looked with stern eyes toward the invaders that surrounded her, not showing any hint of uncertainty or uneasiness.

Olivier’s eyes shone with the light of wisdom, and were turned toward the entrance, which was filled up and obstructed by the demons. Ripples seemed to appear in the space around them, and then in the next moment, a large and strange shadow suddenly appeared.

This large shadow was clearly unlike any of the demons that had shown up until now, in both appearance and the level of magical energy it was emitting. Upon first glance, the shadow appeared to be the shape of a lion person.

It swelled with magnificent muscles of steel, covered in copper colored fur. Scorching flames rose up from its whole body, with twisted horns protruding from its temples.

In its six fingered left and right hands both, it gripped sharp and jagged saw-like swords.

And from both the swords and the swords’ owner itself, flames sprouted; this was most likely a demon who was highly skilled in handling fire.

Olivier’s gaze had remained calm and stoic up until then, but a slight, though definitely not small, amount of nervousness began to float onto her face.

「A great demon, an Archdemon…… It may not be a fallen god, but this isn’t an enemy that can be taken lightly」

Even for someone who has lived as long as Olivier, this was a formidable enemy, the likes of which she has encountered before only a handful of times.

Following in rank only to the Demon Lord, it was a member of one of the highest class of demons, and was fundamentally different from the low- and mid- class demons that Olivier and the other soldiers have been fighting until now.

The situation was already bad enough, so for such a strong foe like a great demon to show up, it wasn’t just Olivier, but the four elite guards, along with all the rest of the soldiers, all began to despair. But it didn’t end with just one great demon.

In the area surrounding the first great demon clad in flames, the air further rippled outward, and three more great demons appeared, one after the other.

The first was a terrifyingly huge frog with slime gleaming and shining on its bluish white skin. The second was a half naked beautiful woman with a five headed snake wrapped around her body. The third was a large skeleton whose face consisted of only five red eyes, with which it used to glare around at its surroundings.

Just by looking at them, one would be attacked by the feeling of their soul being scraped away. Such was the difference in rank of these great demons.

However, these powerful demons weren’t the only ones joining the battle at the present moment.

Up until now, Yggdrasil had been in tune with Ryuryushii’s prayers, which had increased its strength enough to interfere with the dimensional walls, holding off the higher ranked demons and Niezhel as well.

But since these were high ranked demons being held back, it also meant that Yggdrasil’s power was weakening at the same time.

「Ryuryushii!」

Latanta, having noticed that, could not hide her impatience as she turned back toward her childhood friend, only to see that Ryuryushii was kneeling on one knee as she fervently offered up her prayers to Yggdrasil, with beads of cold sweat forming on her strained face.

Even to this moment, Ryuryushii was shouldering a fearsome mental burden.

The moment Latanta tried to rush over to Ryuryushii’s side, the lion headed great demon took a step forward, making a thud sound as the earth shook under his foot.

「!?」

Did he have no intention of conversing because he considered their words to be the language of lowly earth creatures? The great demon did not utter a single word, but a smile rose to his villainous lion face. Does he think he can just ignore us? That was what his actions implicitly conveyed.

Latanta, Tegel, Urga and the others ground their teeth in annoyance as they glared at the great demon. Olivier simply raised her staff towards the fearsome foe.

However, Olivier began to smile, as if she were a child finding out that the prank she’d set up had been pulled off successfully.

For a moment, Olivier’s face changed from that of an incomprehensible, cold-hearted warrior, to that of a woman with a definite sense of compassion.

Olivier was of course aware of the upset the spirits were causing as they ran wild, as Quel had told her, and had grasped the situation to an accurate extent.

Even they rarely had the chance to see the high ranking Great Spirits in the outside world, and Olivier, being an unparalleled spirit user, understood the situation.

So, who had been the one to summon these Great Spirits? Olivier called out the name of their summoner.

「Dran」

Just as the ripples in the air subsided like a heat haze and cleared out, from where they stood slightly floating above the floor, Dran, Diadora, and Selina appeared.

「Whoa, we ended up in a place like this!? But, if I falter here, then I wouldn’t be able to call myself Dran’s familiar!」

Although Selina was a bit panicked, she still turned around to face the great demon who was trying to attack, and slammed a hit into the eight headed demon snake.

Such was the magic unique to the lamia species, of being able to keep spells on standby, ready to launch at any time, suspended in the moment right before the end of the spell chanting.

「This time for sure, we won’t lose anyone!!」

And just like Selina, Diadora also had her Black Rose magic stored up, filled up with deadly poison. She also turned around and turned the ivy of the Black Rose into the shape of a giant hammer.

At the same time, Black Rose petals blew into the surroundings on the wind, carrying a lethal, deadly poison. Unable to do anything but watch, the magic soldiers and lower ranked demons’ whole bodies eroded away, and they died.

「Hmm, so although you two had to fight so suddenly, you still blew away the great demon with a single blow. Your power has grown a lot since the time we fought with Georg」

Selina, during all the time she has spent with me, fought with many kinds of demons and beasts, and also trained together with Ryuu Kittsu. On top of that, she was eating up my own spirit energy every day, so all of that has had a great influence on her.

As for Diadora, since she had exhausted Lafrasia’s life force and completely absorbed it into her own flesh and blood, she has acquired a resistance to the poison of the demon world.

「I’ve been left in the dust」

Speaking of which, I also turned around to look at the lion headed demon, who had leaped toward us immediately after his two comrades had fallen, with his two flaming swords swinging down.

I was a little sad that I didn’t have my favorite long sword at my waist, but, well, that just means I get to think up a different way of fighting.

I looked up at the lion’s face, and he also looked into my Rainbow Colored Dragon Eyes — or rather, he ended up looking.

What was most unfortunate for this lion headed demon, was that he was old enough to know the meaning of seeing these Rainbow Colored Dragon Eyes, in other words, he knew of me, the one who held such eyes, and yet he was not powerful enough to withstand my power.

Also, the fact that his enemy was me.

I held up my hand lightly to catch the lion headed great demon’s swinging sword, ignoring the flames that coated both the sword and the demon’s body, and sent my Ancient Celestial Dragon magic directly into him.

Just by receiving the aura or voice of a being belonging to the upper dimension, lower dimension beings would most likely lose their lives.

But that was nothing compared to the clear hostility and killing intent I had.

After injecting my Ancient Celestial Dragon power into the lion headed demon’s temporary body and then into his soul, it wasn’t just the body on this side, but also his real body that was still in the demon world; both of them vanished from all worlds.

Thus, almost at the same exact moment we had arrived inside of Yggdrasil, three great demons were destroyed.

While thinking that this was really no surprise at all anymore, I turned to talk to Headmaster Olivier.

「It has been a while, Headmaster. I might be overstepping, but I have rushed over to help」

The faces of everyone besides Headmaster Olivier, as they looked at me when I said that, was quite the sight to see.
