Chapter 88

The supreme Vampire Queen and the boy who held the soul of the strongest and oldest dragon inside him, were standing side by side. The two were the closest existences to the ideal “people” that the gods had once tried to create, two people of a super race, so they understood, whether they liked it or not, that they were facing an unprecedented formidable enemy.

Dramina was the first since the founding of the vampires to inherit six Sacred Treasures, so she was the strongest and the best vampire in history. This fact had been researched beforehand.

But even for that Dramina, her fighting ability far exceeded the expectations based on the information gained from astrology and future prediction magic. So they were unexpectedly forced into an intense fight.

Even so, Cleva and Iiu still had their trump card leftover. If that was used, then it would still be possible to capture them. In the worst case scenario, higher ranking mages could be called upon for assistance, and then their capture would probably be guaranteed.

However, at the exact moment when they were looking for a good opportunity to use that trump card, the aura around the lamia slightly changed. And there was the other girl, who was of the same super race as Cleva and the others, but was still unawakened. These girls, who held an unusually high amount of spiritual power, were brought forward by the boy, and the situation began to change even further.

Dramina had sensed the boy approaching, and the tension she had built up over the course of battle immediately loosened upon the boy’s arrival. She directed her gaze to him, with an expression that couldn’t be called anything less than ecstatic. Her face showed such intense affection, it seemed like her whole body would just start melting away.

This queen, who had reached the same level of her founders, was not looking upon him with the fickle affection of a vampire looking at their favorite human (food). No, it was clear that she was looking at him with deep trust and respect, from the bottom of her heart. And there were even feelings of romantic love mixed in as well.

But the biggest problem for Cleva and the others was that the boy’s whole body and soul was releasing an aura, a feeling of intimidation, magic, and appearance — everything. Peeking inside of all that, it was as if his soul was sucking up everything, like an abyss with no bottom, or a starry night sky with no end.

They were still in the process of mastering their magic, but they could tell even the evil gods or the demons wriggling about in the demon world wouldn’t be able to reach that level of power. They realized his full strength with a feeling of disbelief.

This can’t be happening. This must not be happening.

There is no way an existence that should be crawling around on earth could possibly surpass the power of even the gods, who should be glaring from above in the higher dimensions.

But if that was the case, then just what exactly was this boy, standing next to the Vampire Queen?

「Iiu, is that thing an apostle or something?」

Perhaps the boy standing next to Dramina was sent by the creation gods of the vampires to protect her, their beloved child. Such was one of the ideas Cleva came up with to explain his existence.

But Iiu’s head shook slightly side to side, rejecting Cleva’s guess.

Cleva knew that guess would be wrong, but still said it anyway, mostly while still in disbelief.

「It doesn’t make sense for the gods on the other side to send something stronger than themselves. We should consider that he is an existence that is stronger than the gods」

Ugeh, Cleva thought, tongue sticking out with an expression as if about to vomit.

A race separate from the gods, and surpassing them in power. There was only one existence that it could be.

Not belonging to either the heavens, or the demon world, or the earth, they had created a world of their own, and migrated there: the truly ancient Dragonkin.

Suppose this boy in front of them was actually a dragon that had transformed into a human, or maybe reincarnated into one, or maybe even just a person who held a contract or the protection of a dragon, and earned its power.

Even so, they had pierced through the Dragonkin’s fundamental non-interference with the human world. For what reason did they involve themselves with earth, let alone help the Vampire Queen? Cleva and Iiu couldn’t wrap their heads around it.

The one and only thing that was clear was that in the eyes of Cleva and Iiu, two of the earth’s most prominent mages, a tremendous being with seemingly immeasurable and unlimited strength had shown up in front of them. He clearly held hostility towards them.

Cleva and Iiu’s souls, no, their very cells let out shrill screams, and the two of them were forced to use all the willpower they had to push down the urge to flee. As they were doing so, the boy — Dran — turned his eyes toward the two of them while talking to Selina and the others behind him.

「Selina, Christina, Lenia. Dramina and I will handle these two. You three just stay there and wait a little bit」

Since the battle at the Magic Academy, Lenia had reached the level of being able to destroy anything down to its basic particles, and had regained enough power to even destroy time itself. There was also Selina, who far exceeded any normal lamia in power, and the super high class swordsman, Christina. Those three alone would be a heavy load to bear, if they had been Cleva and Iiu’s opponents.

Besides that, Dramina still had plenty of energy to keep on fighting, and the invisible fighting spirit was also rising. It was so beautiful and bright, it was starting to feel like their whole bodies were getting exposed to too much sunlight.

Selina and Christina could perceive the difference in Cleva and Iiu’s power levels, and felt sullen. But they obediently did as Dran asked, swallowing their protests as they waited behind together with the Sleipnir they rode in on, and watched over the continuation of the battle.

Lenia was the only one whose mouth twisted into a frown.

She wanted to stand beside her beloved father in battle, especially against these stupid people who had dared to willingly stand against him, but she reluctantly complied with Dran’s orders, and showed an obedient behavior.

「Now then, Over Genes, huh? I’m sorry we just met and all, but I hope you’re prepared」

Dran pulled his favorite longsword out of its leather sheath, and passed magic through it. As it transformed into a dragon claw blade, he approached Cleva and the others step by step.

For Cleva and them, each step Dran took was equal to one step closer to their own deaths.

Also, the threat to their lives wasn’t just Dran alone.

Because of the fact that Dran was now by her side, Dramina’s heart was exploding with delight, and the amount of magical energy her soul was releasing increased dramatically. It quickly reached levels that couldn’t even be compared to her power just earlier.

Just by Dran coming here, Dramina’s fighting power was increasing exponentially with every passing second.

「Dran, I’m sure you are already aware, but the one with the greatsword manipulates time.

The other one is an immortal who can control the earth veins. He can use the power of the four gods, and is apparently a bright Feng Shui mage.

Well, no matter which of the two you choose to fight, there shouldn’t be anything to worry about if it’s you fighting them」

With Valkyrios, in the same shape as Dran’s dragon claw sword, and the enemy’s Sacred Treasure, Growth Glare, in her hands, Dramina spoke to Dran in a voice that could even be called cheerful.

Dramina’s voice was filled with a bright and positive tone, as if she were immersed up to the neck in a sea of happiness. From just hearing her voice, it was hard to believe she was on a battlefield right now.

「Hmm, in that case, since the barrier that was put up earlier is already broken, I’ll take on the immortal mage over there. What about you, Dramina, will you be alright?」

Dran’s concern was just a formality, as he knew that whether she fought Cleva or Iiu, Dramina would not fail. He understood that there was no need to worry about her.

Dramina smiled.

Dramina had even dreamed of Dran, but here he was, and they were finally able to converse again. Savoring that happiness, Dramina was determined not to show any failure in front of the man she loved. Her will was a flame, burning like a sun inside her heart.

「Yes, of course. I would not make any blunders in front of you.

Dran, just by having you at my side, I think we can win, even if the whole world were against us」

Dramina’s smile was that of a woman who could see only the man she loved, and nothing else. Dran looked back at her with an equivalent smile.

For a moment, Dran and Dramina’s eyes met, conveying their thoughts more eloquently than a million words ever could.

The time they had spent together couldn’t even be added up to fill a whole day, but they were just that close. They understood each other that well, deep in their hearts.

It’s understandable that Selina would lose her composure and panic over how strangely compatible the two of them were.

In terms of romance, Dramina was an extremely powerful rival.

「If my presence is able to give you courage, then all is well」

「Yes」

Dramina replied with a bounce to her voice, but turned toward Cleva with a mountain of regrets carried in her heart.

Cleva had waited from beginning to end of their conversation for any gaps, but he found no opportunity to slash, nor to use magic either. With nervousness running through his whole body, he gripped the greatsword styled Sacred Treasure, Chrono Need, in his right hand, and endured the overwhelming pressure coming from Dramina.

「Good grief, you two were so lovey dovey in the middle of a battle. That’s a pretty rare sight to see」

「How rude. I’ve waited for what feels like an eternity to reunite with Dran, and that day has finally come. In return, I’ll make sure you pass through the doors to the underworld painlessly」

The atmosphere that was as sweet as honey while Dramina had been talking with Dran was completely gone. Instead, all that stood in front of Cleva was an ice queen, simply aiming to slay the one who’d been disrespectful and rude to her.

The coldness of the words that spilled from her lips seemed to freeze the very air, and the sound of her voice could charm anyone, and make them fall to the ground in pieces.

A beautiful queen, a cold and ruthless judge, and a being beloved by the moonlit night, whose reign is not allowed to see the light of day; that is who Dramina is now.

Again. It seems like they dropped a lot of chapters from this arc when doing the move. I wish someoe picked up the LNs again (or someone found a stash of the original raws).

I don’t think so. It’s one of the literary devices – fragmented narrative. This way author passes the ball to reader in order to connect the dots.
