Chapter 1.1. Land of minotaurs.

The ship sailed into massive lake, its waters calm and reflective beneath overcast sky. For a week it cruised along tranquil shores – dense forests stretching to horizon on all sides! Passengers grew accustomed to monotonous rhythm of waves lapping hull.

But then, in distance ahead, wall of stone reared up from wilderness! Towering ramparts ringed whole town, rising high enough to scrape clouds! Spires and rooftops peeked above battlements like giants’ teeth.

As vessel drew nearer, details came into focus. Fortified gates yawned wide – allowing steady stream of traffic in and out. Merchant stalls lined quayside, hawking exotic wares from distant lands! The air hummed with cacophony of voices speaking myriad tongues.

Sails were furled, as ship glided to dock, passengers craning necks for glimpse behind walls! What mysteries lurked within this bastion carved from untamed wilderness? And how had such marvel risen in midst of nowhere?
