High School Hack and Slash Chapter 110 Part 2
「The difficulty level, based on the time difference, is more than intermediate and less than advanced, huh.」
「Given things, looks like we have to be careful, I suppose.」
「… A frigging intermediate class raid, huh? So fishy, man.」
「I know, right? It’s too fishy.」
Not only Shizuka, but Seiichi and the others are all groaning with difficult looks on their faces.
I wonder if they’re perceiving it to be such a dangerous raid.
Honestly speaking, I don’t feel the same pressure as the raids we’ve conquered so far, though.
「There’s no frigging way for the raid that’s referred to us while Touma was making fuss about raid this and raid that to be merely on intermediate level.」
「The heck are you talking about?」
I end up punctually retorting to Seiichi’s joke, but for some reason, everyone’s still showing a serious look on their face.
Talk about Away feel that makes me want to cry.
「I suppose we better not let our guard down. The possibility of the raids fusing with each other midway and turning into an extreme class one is not nonexistent…. I guess.」
「That sounds very plausible.」
As Mai makes a face as if she’s convinced with the possibility, everyone nods their heads in agreement as well.
I wonder if I can just go home.
「For the category of the raid, it certainly seems to be the『Lore (Legend)』 type. I can’t tell what kind of lore is serving as the base yet, though.」
「So there are also raids with situations that are similar to modern times like this, huh.」
「I can’t quite imagine the monsters that would appear, either.」
「From looking at the surrounding area, there’s nothing but rat-like null mobs. Well, for the time being, looks like our safety is secured, so let’s decide on our course of action from here on.」
The first goal is to search for Tatsuya-kun’s party members.
The second goal is to conquer the『Marvel World』 raid quest.
The third goal is to train for the tournament.
According to the Interface message, the time difference is five times.
Therefore, making it a five-day mission at the longest.
「Retrieve the lost people as soon as possible, set a target for conquest afterwards, and continue training until the time runs out. It’s a no brainer.」
They to whom only bad ideas come might as well be asleep, so they say.
These are the words of a great man that if you translate them into modern Japanese: Hit first before worrying.
「No, let’s be a little more careful and start with the investigation of the surrounding area….」
「The mapping of the area inside the domain is complete.」
Natsumi, showing a somewhat proud look on her face, projects a three-dimensional map diagram, covering the table.
「The locations of the challengers (raiders) in the domain have been grasped as well.」
Miharu, similarly making a petit smug look on her face, puts the location pins of the search targets on the map diagram.
「… Um, Miharu-chan. This, is it supposed to be one pin per person?」
As the two firmly nod their heads, everyone, not only Mikan-senpai, has a subtle expression on their faces.
The south side of the map, which is that of a long and narrow island, has turned into a solid 26 pieces pincushion, but this one is probably the Demon Lord’s castle.
There are about 30 pins on the west side area.
There are about 30 pins on the east side area.
There are also some pins standing on the north side.
There are roughly about 100 raiders, but they all seem to be participating in this raid quest.
Don’t you think that there’s a little too many people?
◇ ◇ ◇
Currently, I’m in the middle of scouting the area on the fuzzy cloud, which has been summoned in petite size.
The Senpais are handling the maintenance of the base, the Demon Lord’s Castle, and Shizuka and the others are giving them a hand.
Seiichi has set out to secure the safety of the area near the base.
However, thanks to the exploration skills of Natsumi and Miharu, we have already confirmed the terrain, monsters, and even the locations of our competitors (raiders) within the domain.
I realize that those with『Officer』 type class, which specializes in exploration, are indispensable for conquering unexplored dungeons and raids.
Between with or without them, the level of difficulty should be completely different.
However, as expected, it seems that it is not possible to do a discrete search for Tatsuya-kun’s party members, who are unfamiliar strangers to them.
In the sky above the buildings that stand tall in a row, separated by streets, I’m flying horizontally without hindrance.
It does look modern, but it also has a nostalgic feel to it.
It’s a townscape that looks like one you would see in a black-and-white movie, I should say.
At any rate, I’ve reached all the way to the place where the western raider group is supposed to be.
It’s a pretty good speed.
Unlike the previous fuzzy cloud, it has evolved to be able to generate speed comparable to a moped.
I look down from the sky, but there is no shadow of people that signify them.
I guess they have probably gone inside the building.
Now then, what to do, I wonder?
The crucial rescuees we are looking for, Tatsuya-kun’s party members, are one boy and two girls.
There’s also the possibility that they have joined up with another raider group.
Making contact and listening to what they have to say is the faster course of action.
When I lower my altitude as such a thought crosses my mind, I’m attacked by a bird that looks like a skeletal specimen.
It’s quite surreal to see a large bone, about one meter in length, flapping its wings.
There is no meat to be eaten, but we might be able to make bird bones dashi with it.
After catching it, I pluck its neck and wings and put it into the Item Box.
I manage to catch three more, so let’s have them boiled when I return to the Demon Lord’s castle.
While I’m thinking about eating soy sauce ramen with bird bones broth, a translucent girl flies at me.
As expected, I can’t eat human-shaped monsters.
She’s just crying and screaming, so let’s leave her alone.
Or so I thought, but then the building comes crashing down, so I smash it.
Sure enough, I come to feel that it’s something artificial.
Could it be a poltergeist phenomenon, I wonder?
It’s a psychic phenomenon that also often occurs in Asagi-sou these days.
It’s not particularly harmful, but it makes me feel as if pranksters, or rather, invisible ghosts are holding a party or something.
I think it would be quieter if I mow down the surrounding area and turn it into a vacant plot, but it’ll end up dragging the raider group, who seem to be trying to hide themselves and letting things go past, into it as well.
I guess it would be better to come back again when things have calmed down.
Riding the fuzzy cloud, which ends up inflating each time I shoot through the debris with a lightning bolt, I head to the west side.
If I raise it too big, it will become like a rain of thunder when I disperse it, so I need to be careful.
「Mm?」
Just when I think that I’m getting closer to the central area of the raid, I’m once again obstructed by what appears to be an invisible wall.
It’s a pain to go around, so I drive the pile of the Gaki Lord War Casket (Over-Greed Gear) into it and make a hole in it.
In the greening area that serves as the central area, I find a frozen boss-like multi-headed dragon, but I ignore it.
Just like Moby Dick that was the boss in the similarly lore-type raid『Demon of the deep』, it’s probably in invincible mode until the switch is turned on.
It doesn’t react even when I lightly drop a navel-snatch on it, so there’s no mistaking it.
Making an exit by smashing the pile into the barrier, I arrive at the east side area.
The urban area continues without any particular change.
They may have moved on since some time has passed, but I should be able to find them if they are engaged in a fight against monsters or something.
If I appeal my existence here, the other side might initiate contact.
While thinking as such, first of all, I go and smash a church-like spire with navel snatch.
As the large bell crashes down, a loud sound echoes throughout the air.
If I were in the normal dungeon, it’s a racket that would without a doubt call forth monsters, but there is no reaction.
Or so I thought, but then I get sniped.
It normally makes a direct hit, but I’m normally surprised.
It’s my first experience of being shot by a gun, but my eyes meet with the culprit who is holding a big gun on a building window, so I guess it’s a sniper.
On the fuzzy cloud, I swiftly draw near to the raider that I’ve finally discovered.
Before I can call out to them, they scream and flee for some reason.
I feel like I just witnessed a hit-and-run.
According to Interface-san, the gun that’s left behind seems to have the name of Barrett M82.
It’s the first time I’ve ever seen a firearm in the dungeon.
Rugged, shiny black firearms are something that stimulates a man’s romance.
Let’s confiscate it as a consolation money for being sniped by the accidental shooting.
