I received a strong blow to my back, and the next thing I knew, I was being slammed into the mud wall of the large open hall. I ducked quickly and was able to defend myself, but my HP was still down by about thirty percent. That means an enemy capable of dealing serious damage to me had appeared without me even noticing. And even though I was caught off guard, I did not notice it at all……

Even so, attacking someone from behind like that was some seriously gutsy move! I needed to see what kind of enemy that even was!!

As the dust finally cleared around me, the figure of the guy who attacked me gradually became clear.

In terms of size alone, its body was less than half that of the Queen Ant. However, what clearly set it apart from other ants around here was its sharp form, all shiny, smooth metallic body plating, and sickle-like mandibles that took up almost half of its length.

Because it was so dark in here I was unable to clearly see what its color actually was, but I was getting an impression that it was made entirely out of some kind of shiny mineral.

It was abundantly clear that this thing was being hostile towards me. And when it comes to encounters such as this one, first impressions are really important! So let’s try to look cool in response!

(What the hell!? You have got some guts, my man! But I’m a Zombie! So don’t underestimate me!)

I then tried to strike some truly sharp glare its way…… But it was all for naught since I dod not have eyes with which I could express that.

As I was charging straight ahead, information about the enemy started flowing into my mind for some reason.

No, I don’t understand the explanation of this Skill at all! Should I file a complaint here? But I don’t know where the complaints office is and to whom in particular I should even send it!

But, leaving that matter aside for the time being…… Is this perhaps the cause of the mass outbreak of ants in this area? Its species is King Crimson Ant, right? What’s that supposed to be? How is it different from the ants I have seen so far?

Oh well, but that’s not important right now! Right now I needed to focus on this one right in front of me!

「The Eight Hells」 and 「Meikirukotsu」 Skills were still active. Even so, the fact that my HP has been reduced this much meant that this guy was clearly in a different league when compared to the ants I have seen so far. I better be careful here…… Ugh!?

Thankfully I was able to concentrate again and keep an eye on my opponent.

The King Crimson Ant suddenly charged right at me at incredible speed without any preparatory movements, but I managed to block it with the handle of my Fire Moon Spear. I was able to somehow block the attack, but it was some truly close call.

The King Crimson Ant clacked its jaws together and tried to bite me with them, but when it realized it could not win in terms of sheer power, it took some distance from me and charged at me again at incredible speed. From what I could see, its stats seem to be focused on attack power and speed. And judging from that hard-looking exoskeleton, it must have had a decent amount of defensive power as well.

Just as I was thinking that I should maybe counterattack, the King Crimson Ant once again distanced itself from me, and this time it started running around the hall in various directions. Its speed kept increasing, so much so that it left afterimages that looked like multiple lines in its wake. It mixed in feints and slashing attacks with its sharp jaws.

(This guy…… When will I finally get to have a turn!?)

Thanks to the armor that I was currently wearing my defenses were naturally pretty high, and I have strengthened myself here with the use of my Skills. This meant that I was able to withstand a decent amount of attacks and the damage they would inflict, but if I was just going to stand there and let this thing attack me however it wanted, things would quickly turn ugly for me.

But still, this stinging feeling that I was getting all over my body…… This was not half-bad at all!

After all, hunting only small fries all the time is no fun at all. It’s only by winning in these close call battles that you become “ the Man”!!

For some mysterious reason, my excitement was constantly rising. But if I was going to keep going like this, I would most certainly lose the battle sooner rather than later. I needed to think of some kind of solution. But no matter how much I would swing my Fire Moon Spear, I did not feel like I was going to hit anything.

…Well, I would still take the damage and try to turn the tables with one hit!!

I put the Fire Moon Spear into my Magic Bag, freeing both of my hands. The King Crimson Ant saw an opportunity and rushed towards me, biting into my neck. The force was so great that I was pushed further and further backwards as I blocked it at the last possible moment.

…… But the part where I was bit was protected by the Golem’s armor! Don’t underestimate the Golem’s defensive power!!

I wrapped both of my hands around the King Crimson Ant’s slender torso and grabbed it tightly. Then, using the force of the King Crimson Ant’s backward fall, I bridged and slammed the King Crimson Ant’s huge head into the ground.

(That was a beautiful hit!)

The King Crimson Ant probably did not expect to be backdropped like that!

But its head was still stuck in the ground…… This was my chance!

The King Crimson Ant was upside down but still struggling to escape, so I grabbed it from behind.

My level in Fire Magic was low, and I did not really know what kind of magic was going to be strong against it. But I could easily increase the power of the flames surrounding me!!

As I let the flames rise up with enough force to burn myself to ash, the exoskeleton I was holding onto gradually melted away. The King Crimson Ant was writhing and struggling desperately, still resisting. I had taken some damage here and there, but still…… I was not going to let go!

The six legs that had been desperately resisting gradually began to twitch, and the sound of its jaws trembling, “Gichichichichichi!!” echoed through the air.

I used all my power to hold down the raging King Crimson Ant. Then, its exoskeleton gradually dissolved, and my hands sank into its body deeper and deeper.

At the same time, the King Crimson Ant let out a death cry, and its restless legs went completely limp.
