CHAPTER 235: THE ADVANCED DUNGEON “TOWER OF THE LION”
CHAPTER 235: THE ADVANCED DUNGEON “TOWER OF THE LION”
~Aun’s Point of View~
「Well then, let’s go explore a dungeon for the first time in a while, shall we!」
Due to Curulario’s training, we had stopped exploring dungeons for an entire month, but we would pick up the pace starting today.
The Beginner Level 「Tower of the Snake」 and the Intermediate Level 「Tower of the Wolf」 were not difficult enough for us to not be able to conquer them solo, but the Advanced Level 「Tower of the Lion」 and the Highest Level 「Tower of the Dragon」 from here on out would not be as easy to overcome.
There was also information that the traps out there become much more dangerous from the Advanced level onwards, so we had to be extra careful when conquering them.
In addition to that, unlike the Intermediate Level, the 「Tower of the Lion」 had a total of 40 floors. And the Highest Level, the 「Tower of the Dragon」 was said to definitely exceed 50 floors at the least. It was possible that it may even have 60 floors or more. If that was going to be the case, it would take a considerable amount of time for us to conquer them all in their entirety.
「Brother, didn’t Heil say that there are Hunting Ground monopolies in Advanced and the Highest dungeons? What should we do if we encounter those guys?」
「Oh, now that I think about it, there ARE Hunting Ground monopolies in the Advanced Dungeons…… Hmm, if they get in our way, we can crush them mercilessly. Everyone who gets in our way is an enemy, after all.」
「Got it! That’s easy enough to understand!」
「Well, we can just think about crossing that bridge once we get to it, really.」
「Aun, is it okay if the same goes for the Assassins’ Clans? I can take care of them as soon as I find them……」
「It’s true that Nelfie’s search ability will allow us to find them before the enemy does. But let’s start by intercepting them if they intend to attack. If they are going to prove to be annoying, we can just kill them as soon as we find them…… But if we do that……」
「Mhm. Aun is so kind. You were thinking about not taking away Kyuru’s opportunity to grow, right?」
「So you found out about that, huh……? I guess that I can’t really hide anything from you, Kinu.」
It would be quick if we just went around beating them all up, but then even if “Tekirana” won the battle for the pecking order, there wouldn’t be any continuity after that. Plus, it seems like a waste to let a perfect opportunity for Curulario to growth in practice to go unnoticed. Well, it would all depend on how the other party responds!
「For now, we can just consider anyone who gets in our way to be our enemy. If we keep doing that, they’ll stop trying to harm us before long. For Calvados, leaving us alone will cause less damage to their side than making us their enemy. Plus, they shouldn’t think that just five people can defeat a Boss like the Highest-Level Surt on our own.」
「Understood. Then I will just tell everyone where the enemy is via telepathy when I find them.」
「Really? Well then, let’s start clearing the Advanced Dungeon right away!」
When I touched the magic circle at the entrance to the Advanced Tower, the scenery changed instantly, and we were transported to a dungeon with a vast amount of wilderness inside of it.
From the Tower of the Lion, there were not only maze-type floors in the dungeon, but also floors with terrains such as plains, wilderness, desert, snowy mountains, and volcanic areas, just like the ones I made in Plainne Verte.
This made it really easier to fight in a party, but it also meant that you’d have to pay attention to all directions, and it takes time to understand the terrain itself. Maps were sold in the city of Wislo, but if you wanted to go for Advanced or Highest dungeons, they were quite expensive, and it was unclear whether they were all that accurate in the first place. I couldn’t bring myself to buy one, as I thought that as a high-ranking Clan that wants to keep information secret, they would not write down all of the important details on those things.
「Oh, here come the monsters!」
Four monsters were currently running towards us. They were low-rank B Rank “Killing Leos” and “Red Goblins”, monsters that the Tower of the Lion got their name from, I assume.
These Red Goblins not only fight alongside Killing Leos, but sometimes they would even mount Killing Leos to attack. Of course, they were equipped with weapons and armor, which were characteristic of monsters that were close to human form, and depending on the individual, they would also have the means to attack from a distance.
The ones coming towards us now were two pairs of Killing Leos and Red Goblins mounted on Killing Leos.
After confirming this, the front liners Cinque and Drake ran off to intercept them.
「An enemy this small isn’t worth bothering Aun-sama or Kinu-sama.」
「That’s right! And it’s perfect for warming up!」
A magic arrow shot by Nelfie from diagonally behind me slipped between the two of them as they sped along, piercing the abdomen of the Red Goblin holding the crossbow, and the battle began.
Killing Leo, who was charging at Cinque and trying to strike with its sharp claws, was deflected by his shield, and Cinque transformed his Dosukoi into a giant axe and cut it in half in the air.
At the same time, Drake, who was running from behind, passed Cinque and smashed the monster’s spine with the Red Demon’s Iron Club, along with the Red Goblin riding Killing Leo.
When I turned my attention to the Red Goblin who had been hit by the first arrow and dropped to the ground, I saw that five magic arrows had already pierced its body and it was already dead.
It had been a while since we had last fought with a party, but seeing how perfect their moves were…… teaming up, choosing which monsters to target, and even making sure they were not getting in each other’s way…… made me chuckle wryly, thinking that Kinu and I probably wouldn’t have a turn for a while.
Thinking about leveling up, I wish we could join in the battles, too……
After all that, we had spent a whole day storming up to all the way to the 9th floor, turning all the unfortunate monsters we had encountered along the way into Experience Points, and just as we were about to take a break after a few more hours had passed, we received a telepathic message from Nelfie, who had gone to check out the surroundings.
≪From there, I could see in front of the tower in the 11 o’clock direction that about ten Adventurers were gathered. They were probably the ones monopolizing the Hunting Grounds that the Calvados camp had claimed.≫
