Chapter 75: Magic Baboon
I teleported to the core room of the Plainevelt Dungeon and decided to discuss with Irs about the future of the dungeon.
「Irs, how strong of a monster do you think can be summoned with the dungeon points you have now?」
「If it’s an S-rank monster, I can summon 1. If it’s A-rank, I can summon 5!」
「Hmm, I see. Points are necessary for increasing the number of floors and for remodeling… but, I also want to prevent this dungeon from being conquered, so I’d like to summon another S rank.」
「Right now, there are no parties that can break through Hydra. If that’s the case, it would be better to place a B rank monster where the Red Ogre used to be!」
「That is true too. The population of the village has increased considerably, so the dungeon points are likely to accumulate more and more in the future, so for the time being, let’s summon a B-rank monster. However…if possible, there is an S rank monster which I would like to summon.」
「Interesting! Which monster is that?」
「[Magic Baboon]. And I’m also thinking of turning the boss room into a forest.」
「You are thinking up something pretty heinous once again…」
「Honestly, I feel the same way too. When it comes to forest areas and large ape-type magic beasts, the Magic Baboon’s abilities shine the most.
That’s why I plan to set up a teleportation circle at the entrance of the boss room so that the adventurers can exit.
If possible, I will also instruct it not to kill the adventurers.」
「But why a Magic Baboon?」
「I’ve loved monster encyclopedias since the time I was a human. But I just couldn’t ever imagine a scenario where I was able to defeat a Magic Baboon.
Right now, there’s a possibility that I’ll be able to manage it with just brute force, but if we assume that traps have been set up in advance in the forest area, it’s going to be a pretty tough fight if I challenge it solo.」
「You don’t seem to have any intention of letting the adventurers conquer it at all…」
「Haha yeah! But now that the existence of the “demons” has come to light, I think there will be some sort of large-scale battle in the future. That’s why I want adventurers who can break through the Magic Baboon floor to appear.」
「It seems to be very contradictory, but I somewhat managed to grasp your intentions! I have just about enough points for “Magic Baboon” and the lower B-rank “Ricant”. Are you going to summon them both now?」
「The points should continue to increase from now on, so let’s summon them now!」
Since Irs had expanded the floor and increased the number of monsters up to C-rank since before the ranking battle, the dungeon currently has 30 floors.
And this is the rearranged dungeon plan after all our ideas have been put together.
Plainevelt Dungeon
【Floor 1】
Beastfolk Village (Plainevelt Village)
【Floor 2-8】
Maze-type floors (F-D rank monsters)
【Floor 9】
Safety Area
【Floor 10】
Boss Room (Lower B rank: Ricant)
【Floor 11-18】
Plains Area (D-C rank monsters)
【Floor 19】
Safety Area
【Floor 20】
Boss Room (Higher B rank: Horse-oni & Cow-oni)
【Floor 21-23】
Swamp Area (Lower C-B rank monsters)
【Floor 24】
Safety Area
【Floor 25】
Boss/Swamp Area (Hydra: Lower S rank)
【Floor 26-28】
Forest Area (Lower C-B rank monsters)
【Floor 29】
Safety Area
【Floor 30】
Boss/Forest Area (Magic Baboon: Higher S rank)
When you look at it like this, it’s a pretty heinous dungeon.
This is probably the most difficult dungeon in the Arto Kingdom.
For the time being, there is a safety area in front of each boss room, no traps are set on floors other than the 30th floor, exit magic circles are set up before and after dangerous areas, and there are somewhat more treasure chests. It is a concept that considers adventurers at the forefront.
However, since the Ibrudia Empire’s [Wislo Dungeon] is a dungeon with a similar setting, there should be no suspicion about the existence of a Dungeon Master.
After rearranging the monsters, I went to the boss room on the 30th floor.
There was a giant monkey-like beast with an overall height of over 6m, covered in dark blue fur, and enshrined at the entrance of the forest.
「Are you the master of this dungeon?」
Surprisingly, the magic beast was able to speak the human language.
「That’s right. Nice to meet you, Baboon.」
「I will not obey the weak, but I cannot hurt my master. Therefore, in order to determine your strength, will you please try to hit me with all your might?」
「…Huh? Are you serious?」
「Of course, I know that you are strong to some extent. However, by being attacked, I would like to ascertain whether you are suitable to be my master.」
「If that’s the case…just don’t resent me, okay?」
「Don’t make fun of me. This is my proposal. However, convince me in one attack.」
「OK, let’s do this.」
As soon as I activated [Thunder Drum] and [Max Thunderclap], the baboon displayed an uneasy expression and immediately took a defensive posture.
「Uoraaaaa!!」
When I punched it with all my might at its guarded arms, the demon was sent flying into the air. After knocking down several trees behind it, it finally came to a stop.
「My bad. It hurt, didn’t it? Just in case, I hit you without using my weapon. Are you okay?」
「Ugh… I didn’t expect it to be this much…」
「Well, will you recognize me now?」
「Of course. I didn’t expect you to be this strong. Now I can serve you without any reservations.」
「Okay, that’s good then! Um, do you have a name?」
「I was born just a while ago, so I don’t have recollections of my name. However, I have knowledge on a lot of things. I am not sure whether to call it a trait, or to call it instinct… It’s a strange feeling. If you were to give me a name, I would be happy with that.」
「You’re a male… right? Then how about “Yaou”? Your navy blue fur is akin to the night sky that encompasses the land. Yaou as in the King of the Night.」
「I like it! My name is Yaou. I look forward to working with you, master!」
「My name is Aun. Nice to meet you too!」
With this, things should be fine for a while. Even so, when I appraised Yaou, I saw that his HP hadn’t decreased that much from taking my attack.
As expected, I’m still far from being the strongest in the world.
I wonder how stronger SS and higher rank monsters are…
