Chapter 6: Kijin’s True Power

「Let’s see how my appearance has changed…」

My arms and legs were quite similar to a human’s. My long nails were slightly more sharpened. The two fangs that were protruding from my mouth have also retracted back inside.

「I can’t see how my face has changed… Perhaps I can see it in a water reflection… Hmm? H-Horns?」

While I was touching my cheeks, chin, mouth and eyes, I felt two horns on my forehead.

「Well, I’ll check my new appearance later… More importantly, the changes in stats and skills are amazing.」

First of all, [STR (Strength)] and [AGI (Agility)] have been further increased by 10 each. [DEX (dexterity)] also increased to 10, probably because I evolved closer to a humanoid form.

The biggest change is my [HP (Health Points)]. It’s a whopping 1000, which is actually 2.5 times more than when I was a ghoul. This is probably due to the fact that [VIT (Vitality)] increased by 10.

Next, regarding skills, hunger and predation have been integrated into a new skill called “Gluttony” and has strengthened further. The hunger that was always in the [Condition] column after I became a Zombie has disappeared. Now I can’t feel hunger at all. With this, I can take advantage of the “full stomach” condition which was restricted by Hunger previously.

「Furthermore, I also acquired two unbelievable skills at the same time…」

Strong Arm and Nimble. Both can be activated at the same time, boosting STR and AGI by 50% for 5 minutes. In short, attack power and agility are increased by 1.5 times.

When I was a ghoul, I could pierce an Orc Fighter’s torso unarmed with a [STR] of 29. After leveling up and evolving, my current STR has increased to 47. When the Strong Arm skill is activated, my STR will jump to 70. If I punched an orc with those stats…

「It will surely be blown to bits, right?」

I subconsciously climbed the stairs leading to the 4th floor, bewildered by my own evolution.

「Oops! I have to test my skills! If the next floor is the boss room, I have to get some practice in first!」

At the top of the stairs, a room-type floor spread out. I was a little relieved that it was not the boss room, but four monsters that seem to be higher rank orcs slowly approached me from the front with murderous intent.

Orc Swordsmen, Orc Mage, Orc Guard, Orc General… They were all D-ranks, but their intelligence is higher than that of normal orcs and they seem to fight in a group. Moreover, their job compatibility was perfect.

My movements were faster than before while the orcs were still slow. It seems that my dynamic vision has improved due to the large increase in AGI, and I can see movements in the surroundings in slow-motion when concentrating. I wonder how the orcs see me when I am moving at this speed…

The orcs were bewildered. I slipped past the stupefied Orcs at my fastest speed and punched the Orc General with all my might. His armor shattered and he was sent flying until he crashed into the wall behind him.

I was originally a C-rank solo adventurer. If it was a D-rank monster, I would have been fine as long as my equipment was in order. However, I didn’t possess such overwhelming power or speed. I was mostly reliant on “technique”, not dumb strength.

Combining this physical ability with my knowledge and technique from my days as an adventurer, I might be able to beat an A-rank adventurer if it was a one-on-one fight.

I turned around to target the remaining three dumbfounded orcs.

「First, the mage, then the swordsman.」

With that decision, I instantly maneuvered around to the side of the Orc Mage and smashed his head with a spinning back kick.

In the next step, I closed in on the Swordsman and grabbed him by the forehead. I ran while dragging him towards the wall and smashed the back of his head against the wall. Confirming that the swordsman had died, I turned to face the orc guard.

「The last one. It ended more quickly than I expected.」

The Orc Guard had already lost its will to fight.

Perhaps because his body was stiff, when I poked his buttocks, he dropped the shield and spear he was holding and began to tremble.

I approached him slowly and tried to talk to him. Perhaps because this was my first battle as a Kijin, I was feeling quite heated up. I didn’t know if the Orc Guard could even understand me.

「Come at me. I killed your comrades, you know? I’m going to eat these guys, you know?」

I just didn’t feel like killing an enemy who had lost the will to fight. I wonder if it’s a remnant from my human days… No, it’s not. If you’re a human, monsters are still dangerous even if they’ve lost the will to fight. Looking at the trembling orc, for some reason only anger, disappointment and emptiness welled up.

Before I knew it, I was insulting the monster in a way I never would have when I was a human. My mind might be unraveling a bit since I became a monster.

「Well, let’s move on. That door I see over there is probably the boss room. Gotta focus.」

I took my eyes off the trembling Orc Guard and walked towards the huge door.
