Chapter 187: Shady Employees Gathered All Together
I made tank tops and shirts while tending to Riche in the evening. The T-shirts might be a bit too much, so I modified them a bit following this world’s fashion.
Daytime is spent drawing magic circles while on the island. I’ll draw the main circles that I’ll put on the bottom of the well and on the bedrock later in my house. Right now, I’m working on the inner part of the well, drawing the formation that will pump the water upwards.
I played a lot yesterday despite knowing how tedious this job is, so let’s diligently work today. Oh, just a passing thought — I’m not really sure, but I think the places my contracted spirits know on the map might have increased, so let’s check it later.
Anyway, I draw circles in all directions to make sure there’s enough power. Three in four places, so that’s 12. The formation can draw water up to 10m, but since we’re pumping higher than that I add two more halfway through the well plus charms on a special connecting line that will keep the magic circles working together.
This will work based on the relationship between atmospheric spirits and water pressure, so I’m creating a path that’s enticing enough for the spirits that they’ll want to pass through it.
It’ll be a pain in the neck having to go to the bottom of the well just to install magic stones, so I also work hard to draw another circle that will draw power from magic stones onto the formation itself. I set up a pulley on top of the well earlier and hung a rope tied to a wooden board, kinda like a swing, and sat on that to do my work.
Ahh, so hot. I should’ve done this while it’s winter — I mull while carving geometric patterns on the pile of stones. It’s better to plant the mangoes on this island since winters are also warm over here.
Still, the glass’s insulation is way too good so the greenhouse project is now in a deadlock…. Ahh, but plants grow because of sunlight, so maybe I can just install something that can warm up the place, something that’s the opposite of my chilly plates, maybe?

Auro is calling me, so I reel the rope and climb out of the well. Ahh, I’m so sweaty.

「Cain and Abel will be our aides. 」
「Ahh. Looking forward to working with you too. 」
I’m basically interviewing Changelings. An interview with folks that have appearances that really deviate from each other.
「My name is Theof. I am a magic stone specialist. 」
He’s a bespectacled young man with long white hair flowing neatly behind his back up to his shoulder blades. Magic stone specialists inspect and segregate magic stones, and they will also dispense magic stone powder depending on the use.
「My name is Pamela. I’m a healer. 」
This woman has long wavy hair up to her waist.
「Theof wishes to live within the mansion, while Pamela wishes to have a store in town. 」
Auro explained.
「I’m Charles. I’m a gardener. 」
He’s a young lad with yellow-green hair. That’s it, this guy has the looks of someone likely to fall in love with a sheltered noble young lady with a different status than his and eloping with her.

I pick another spot and do it again, then another, carefully making a line while making sure it won’t interfere with the jade’s design when broken. Then I press it with the magic quill pen. The jade is broken neatly into two.
I smoothen the cross section and it’s done. 【Appraisal】 says it will still work perfectly as a waist pain reliever.
「Here you go. Sell them to both guys. 」
I said to the frozen Soleil.
