Chapter 405: The Heroes’ Current Situation

「Those big shot spirits, and one after the other, too…How can you do it so easily… 」
Hauron muttered under his breath while clutching his head.

「It’s not like I’m going around proactively making contracts, you know. Even the spirits who initially didn’t want to have anything to do with me would voluntarily hang out later on. I’m not really sure about this, but maybe it’s because the heroes are becoming more powerful? 」
Well, maybe it’s also because I’ve become stronger, but let’s keep mum about that.

「The heroes did? 」
Dinosso perked up when at the mention of those guys.

「… It’s true that the heroes have become stronger, I give you that. My contracts with the spirits I’ve sent to spy on different kingdoms and countries had been severed too. Is it because of that 【Domination】that you mentioned before? 」
Hauron’s face turned grim.

「Probably? I don’t care whatever is going on with those guys so I don’t really know, but I was told that the heroes will have the Sight when that Lightball ー Namina, the spirit that has been protecting the heroes, gains power. I bet that once the hero can See, she’ll definitely put every single spirit under【Domination】until she gets bored of it. 」
Sis can be fickle; she gets bored as easily as she gets absorbed into something.

Based on this assumption, Sis must’ve been pointlessly showing off how she’s superior and whatnot. She probably gained power by experimenting and testing her new abilities or she became stronger so that she can get her hands on whatever spirit she fancied. Both scenarios are possible.

「Such matters are truly disconcerting. However, I haven’t heard any news regarding mayhem in Shrum. 」
Butler collected the used utensils and washed them in the water-filled bucket. We left the dishwashing to him.

「Sis doesn’t like getting her hands dirty when trampling on somebody else so she can boost herself up, yet she’s so adept at pushing the blame to others and guilt tripping them. She’s basically all about these two traits, so if she’s in a position where she can just do anything in the palace then she won’t make trouble. She’s really skilled at making herself look all innocent and good, you get the drift. 」

「The heroes are also popular among the Shrum commoners who hadn’t even seen their faces. 」
Retze had started preparing coffee with the siphon that was on the shelf.

「”Powerful men seek fame”, huh. 」
Dinosso.

「If the results benefit public funds and employees, then even those who are underdogs should be happy. 」
Khan commented.

「Well, she has this nasty habit of dragging anywhere who tries to leave her to hell, and she can be extremely petty, like driving someone to a corner just because the other party’s hair is said to be better than hers. Anyway, I guess as long as there’s no direct involvement with them then it’s fine? 」

「How vulgar for someone having that much political power… 」
Hauron slumped on his seat.

「The other folks probably won’t realize that it’s just a superficial relationship, and as long as they keep on cluelessly adoring the heroes, peace is guaranteed ーthanks. 」
I took the coffee that Retze brewed for me.

「You sure act like it a mere onlooker, huh… 」
「I simply am not interested in the folks swarming around Sis. 」
I retorted back to Hauron.

Even the kids I called my friends from way, way back eventually became part of Sis’s crowd before I noticed it. Things turned for the better by high school and I had been happily looking forward to uni, thinking I’ll be able to finally cut ties with her, but in the end, I had been whisked away to this world.

「I already mentioned this before, but nothing will change, the heroes will self-destruct if left on their own. Rumors among the commoners should be fine, but you have to be careful not to get caught while snooping around for news about the palace, alright. 」
Retze distributed the coffee to everyone first and pulled his chair before expressing his opinion.

「I already know that. I simply sent some spirits to gather intel from other countries while completely avoiding Shrum, and to do it discreetly so that they won’t get discovered. 」
Hauron glanced at Retze with his elbows on the table.

Hmm. I also stared at Retze ー how did he get his hands on the rumors about Shrum’s commoners? I’m itching to know.

「Good thing the heroes don’t really bother going out of Shrum. 」
Dinosso’s brows were scrunched. Strange, I’m not sure if the wrinkles are because of the heroes or the bitter taste of coffee.

「That fake hero Jean wannabe must be busy in the West too; he never returned to the East after that incident. 」
Shrum is in the west, while the Magic Forest is in the east.

I asked the spirits I named to help me out. They’re either blocking the exits or changing the course of the entirety of all the『Fae’s Path 』 located near the cities that the fake hero will likely go to the areas with many named spirits, although those places are only limited to the locations that I went to, since a huge number of spirits are needed.

「Either more spirits are becoming more wary towards the heroes, or Jean’s mana, which is also favored by the deities of Es, is becoming stronger. Either way, it seems like big shots are about to gather from here on, so better be prepared. 」
Khan made his coffee so sweet to the point of being gritty because of all the sugar in it.

Please don’t touch the subject on my mana; that topic had been lying low all this time.

「Being prepared or not, I doubt Jean will do anything proactively even if he made a pact with the bigshots of the spirit world. It’s more like the spirits themselves grant his wishes after he 【Liberate】 them. 」
Retze commented.

Yup, the spirits are just enjoying their freedom and releasing their pent up energy, that’s all.

「Tha403t’s the point, it’s scary because the spirits’ whims are beyond human comprehension! 」404
Hauron said.

「..If I may ask, will the Deities-sama protecting Jean-sama follow the path of Light Spirit Namina? 」
I thought the conversation would go on a loop, but Butler surprisingly interjected.

It’s said that a spirit will turn into stone after they reach the peak of its power. Even if they knew that, they cannot stop gathering power because it’s their instinct to do so, apparently.

「My guardian spirit isn’t only one. As long as they gain power together, their influence will also be reciprocal, so it’s all good, apparently. 」

But what about Riche, who stopped halfway through the hero summoning? He became weakened immediately after the summoning and missed the chance to gain immense power. Does that mean he went against his instincts?

It’s also a mystery why he remained a puppy ー Butler and Dinosso thought he’s that way because that’s how I see him, though.

Sorry to burst their bubbles, but I thought he’d grow once he recovered his power. Besides, I heard that his form was previously ginormous.

The guys will probably get even more worried than they currently are, so I’m not saying a word about it. Something must’ve happened, but I’m also aware that Riche is fond of me. He’s adorable, so I’m totally fine with that.
