Chapter 441: Warm Meals
「Wanna eat? 」
「May we? 」
「Wine would be great for me. 」
Hauron massaged his temples.
Is your head hurting? Alcohol can’t be a remedy for that, in my opinion.
Butler seemed quite weakened, so let’s make something that’s gentle on the stomach ーalthough Hauron seemed to be the one having it rough compared to him.
Alright, let’s have some pot-a-feu for now. Turnips and potatoes cut in halves, big slices of carrots, and as for the cabbage, I divided it into sixteen equal wedges with the core intact and simmered it whole.
「Do you think you can eat something else too? 」
「No, this soup is sufficient, thank you. 」
The bread was sliced thinly and arranged in a basket, and I also prepared small dishes of olive oil, garlic and jam, and also some cheese and ham as finger foods for Hauron.
「White wine for today, huh. Jean’s white wine is delicious. 」
Hauron took a sip of wine, then he got a slice of bread and pressed some garlic on it. He recently became fond of bread spread with crushed garlic, topped with ham and cheese then dipped in olive oil.
White wines were predominantly popular in these areas in recent years ー we’re talking about Hauron’s definition of recent, so it should be around 30 years ago or so. Back then, the red wines they had were more like a light rosé and didn’t taste that good, apparently.
「As always, the taste and mouthfeel are delightfully mild. 」
The turnips were soft, barely retaining their form and almost falling apart. The cabbage core is also tender with a nice fluffy texture.
The sausages were bland because their flavor seeped into the soup, making it tastier. Maybe it’s because I’m familiar with pot-au-feu, minestrone and corn soup back when I was in Japan that I can make them well.
「Something smells delicious! 」
Dean’s stomach grumbled and he woke up.
「Jean, gimme meat, meat. 」
He carefully made his way towards me so he wouldn’t step on Chris and Ash who were still sleeping, but he suddenly stopped.
「What? 」
「Where’s the restroom? 」
Dean looked around the room searching for the toilet.
Everything is on the first floor. There’s a huge partition in the corner, but that’s for the bathtub.
「Sorry, I don’t use the restroom here so you won’t find any. Just finish your business outside. 」
It’s a secret base exclusively for me, so I didn’t think about putting a toilet here. It’s more comfortable to【Teleport】to my 『House』if I need to use it.

Dean didn’t question anything and simply went outside.
In this world, it’s normal for people, especially those living in the countryside or in standalone houses, to do their business outside. The fact that Dean even asked about it shows he understands my obsession with proper restrooms. Honestly, I don’t like saying ‘obsession to toilets’ myself, it sounds like I’m a weirdo or something.

This house has a bed, a bathtub, and a sink for washing plates and utensils, and for cleaning the fireplace. I don’t even have any jugs because I simply get my water from 【Storage】.
It’s a house dedicated for lounging on the bed and the carpet, and for taking baths while watching the snow. I also made a basement, but it doesn’t have anything in it yet!
「Wait a sec, is this the maiden’s emergency? 」
Toilet-wise, I mean.
If Dean went out to pee, then I guess everyone else also needed to, right? Butler was completely nonchalant about it, though.
「Maiden? 」
Butler asked.
「Chris and Retze too, I guess? 」
「Are they ladies? 」
Sorry, Hauron, that’s a poor choice of words. Those two aren’t maidens.
『Please help the sleeping folks so that they won’t have to worry about going to the toilet. 』
I don’t know how this request will turn out, though.
「Alrighty. Time for meat. 」
How about spareribs?
「I want to know what you said, but I’m also afraid to ask… 」
Hauron’s gaze roamed around.
「Prevention of bed wetting. I just stop a biological phenomenon while they’re sleeping. 」
I explained simply.
「Stop casually messing with people’s bodies! 」
Hauron yelled.
「Eh, you prefer them to wet their beds rather than being touched by spirits!? 」
That’s shocking.
「That’s not what I mean! 」
「…Jean-sama, interfering with those who possess their own will is difficult, with the exception of healing. However, I believe it went smoothly this time as they are currently asleep.. 」
Butler followed-up.
「It’s also hard to heal someone if they don’t want to be healed, you know. 」
Hauron was on the verge of tears.

Butler looked like he wanted to say something.

Dean came back from outdoors.

「Maiden? 」
Dean glanced at the fief lord’s daughter, confused.
「Oh well, meat! Thanks a bunch! 」
He threw his doubts to the back of his mind right away and immediately sat down and grabbed a piece of spare ribs.
「I know I’m the one who served it, but won’t your stomach get upset if you suddenly eat meat? 」
「It’s fine, it’s fine. 」
The person himself said so, so it’s okay, I guess.
Dean told me he’s gonna pay later so I should bring out more bread too, so I did that. Argh, this guy who only has eyes for carbs and meat! Eat more veggies too, will you!
「Ahh! Freshly grilled meat, a warm and dry room! Jean’s cooking! Heaven!」
Dean tore the meat from its bone with his teeth and happily chewed.
Oh well, I guess I can let him off today for not eating veggies.
