Chapter 476: Dragging Along
I also took a bite of ice cream from time to time while checking the other two guys. They are eating pretty well, huh?
Even if treatment and medicines made more effective by spirits’ influence are available at the temple, many folks still lose their lives because of gastritis.
Recently, the habit of drinking tea is becoming more widespread, and it seems like fewer people are getting stomach issues. It’s probably because they’re drinking boiled water instead of tap water, but the whole ‘tea is super healthy’ idea is spreading like wildfire.
That said, with Hauron and Retze as examples, the folks around me already know that「raw water is bad, boil the water first before drinking 」 . It should be a rule of thumb, and yet so many people don’t know about it, that’s just how huge the gap of knowledge is in this world. Ah, no, maybe not knowledge but wisdom?
Anyway, these two guys, Hauron and Retze, know that, yet they still ate the cold food that I offered to them without any qualms. They knew that cold stuff can make your stomach upset. They even tried the beer.
Really, I’m surrounded by good folks.
Even Dean and Chris, who I first thought I won’t be able to get along with, are now part of my circle. I also got used to that chin spirit too! Ah, but back then, I didn’t know how to face that spirit that fondly caressed Chris’s cleft chin!
I felt like collapsing on my knees after learning that other people see spirits as balls of light.
「Hauron, you see Chris’s and your spirits as balls of light, right? 」
Yeah, I only have this one chance with Grand Sage!
「Well, yes, I can see them as faintly glowing orbs. I also know whether it’s a light spirit or not because it’ll have more of that sparkle than the usual spirits that I encounter. 」
「Sparkle… 」
That’s it?
「By sparkle, I don’t mean the intensity of the glow, but more like distinguishing them based on individual characters and attributes ー mm, did you get it? 」
「Oh, like how light can be morning or sunset light? 」
I nodded, but no. That’s not it.
「That’s right. If you have a connection with the spirit, you can see it clearly, just like the case with Dinosso and his fire spirit. 」
「Alright, then let’s strengthen Chris or Dean’s bond with their spirits! 」
「We’re talking about spirits, okay? Dean’s spirit is a fire one, so unless it’s the type to hide itself, there’s a chance that he’ll be able to see it eventually. 」
Ahh…was there one with a light attribute among Hauron’s four spirits? Hauron, are you really not that compatible with light spirits?
「Wow, that sounds amazing! I’ve talked to someone who can See, and they said spirits all look like the same kind of orb, just different sizes! 」
Chris’s gestures were over the top as usual, his eyes sparkling while facing Hauron.
「Hmm. Ahh, right. 」
「What? 」
「What is it? 」
「Here, try drinking this first. 」
I grabbed some wine and finger foods, then started working on something.
For my drawing ー okay, parchment should work fine. The ink must be compatible with light and fire attributes. Let’s use the new glass pen that I bought.
The two guys watched over me while sipping their wine. For a while, only the sound of pen scratching paper can be heard.
「Is that a magic circle that lets you see spirits? 」
「Is it the same as the one used by my brother? 」
「Chris’s younger brother used a magic circle that allows one to see their own spirit, but mine will let you see people’s spirits temporarily. 」
Brother-kun’s the guy who thought he was possessed with a unicorn only to find out that his spirit is a guy with a white horse head ー I wonder how he is now?
「Hold on, aren’t the magic circles in the temple way bigger than this? Why is it so small? Oh well, it’s you we’re talking about so it’ll probably work fine, I guess. 」
「I already saw a few magic circles in the temple, plus there’s also other stuff. 」
The stuff I saw are mainly from the spirit library, though.
I erased unnecessary parts, replaced the long spells with symbols I memorized from the books in the spirit library. It’d probably be shorter if I used kanji, but spirits can’t read that so nope, can’t do that.
Oh, the spirits I named can read kanji infused with my mana though ー mm, rather than read, it’s more like they’re reading my intention.
「Alrighty, done. 」
「The flow of mana doesn’t seem too shabby. I know it’s gonna work, but that’s about it. 」
Hauron checked the parchment I raised up.
「Come on, go on, try it, try it. 」
「It’s quite interesting, but are you sure you’re using it on me? Why don’t you let Chris use it, since he can’t See spirits? 」
「I can make one for Chris if he wants to See. 」
「Hm? 」
Hauron gingerly took the magic circle drawing with doubt written all over his face. He infused it with mana.
「Okay, go on, look at Chris’s spirit! 」
「Hm?….Ugh. 」
For a second there, Hauron puckered, looking like he just swallowed something really sour.
Alright!
「What, what’s up? Eh, don’t tell me my spirit is also a burly horse? 」
Chris asked, obviously curious at Hauron’s reaction.
「Nah, it’s a cute girl spirit. 」
Just admiring your cleft chin in a daze.
Haha! Finally, there’s someone else who knows how I feel now! Ah, but I’m totally used to seeing them, though!
「Wait! What am I gonna do, I can’t look at Chris now! 」
「It’ll be fine. You will get used to it. 」
「What the heck am I gonna do till then, huh!? By the time I’m ‘used to it’ the effect of the magic circle will be gone, right! 」
Hauron’s such a stubborn guy, but what can we do, he’s my comrade-in-seeing-spirits-clearly now. Once Dean is back, he’ll be able to see that guy’s spirit, so until then, I’ll be sticking around here and you’ll have to bear with it haha!

Thanks for the chapter.
