There’s a possibility the emperor has some supernatural abilities, maybe similar in nature to Hiro’s. That may be due to AI help though and not something he was born with.

Talking with the emperor was fun. Outwitted him by talk about his sister gain a point for Hiro. I do believe Hiro don’t really hate nobles, though he clearly make point that ties with them are troublesome, since it’s all about profit and lose all the time with them. (Maybe not with the starship’s avid fan. Can’t remember his name.)
Even I won’t like being near friend who think about using me all the time, though whether it will change from indifference to hate or not will depend on his\her manner I guess.

Funny enough I can see these two becoming friends down the road. One treats the other as not quite this lofty emperor and the other can somewhat unwind without playing the role of emperor talking to subjects.
