547 「That’s Tyranny!」
TN: It seems that the author has entered another short hiatus to write a new volume of one of his LNs, it shouldn’t be more than a couple of months.
「Man, I’m wiped.」
Kicking back on a couch in Black Lotus’s break room, I let out a sigh and stared up at the ceiling. Sure, I gained a lot from everything that went down—but damn, it was exhausting. Learning more about people like me, the so-called ‘visitors’, was valuable enough. And the thing with Krishna… well, being stronger is a good thing, I guess. But with its mobility and weapons systems changed so drastically, I still need time to get fully used to it.
I also awakened to new ways of using my psionic abilities. At this point, I feel like I could shred a fully armored marine in power armor with just a sword. Hell, I could probably crush the guy inside with telekinesis alone. Maybe even zap someone with lightning.
It’s not just giving Jedi knight vibes anymore—I’ve gone full Sith Lord. But hey, I’m the type to use power for my own gain. Suits me just fine. And anyway, this ain’t the Force, so there’s no such thing as a dark side here.
「We’re wiped out toooo.」
「Nyaa~」
Whenever I try to relax like this, someone ends up barging in. This time, the first ones to show up were Tina and Wiska. Both of them looked absolutely drained. Can’t blame them—they’d been run ragged dealing with the last-minute flood of psionic-sensitive materials being delivered before we left Velh, the Empire’s capital. All were ‘gifts’ the Holy Empire gave us, but the sudden influx really jammed up the unloading schedule.
「You two seemed like you were running yourselves into the ground. But did you get anything useful out of the Holy Empire’s ship tech or psionic research?」
「We got what we could. At the very least, we can say nobody in the Grakkan Empire knows more ‘bout psionic tech than us now.」
「The question is how we use it… I’ll think of something, Big Brother.」
「Just don’t push yourself too hard. As long as Krishna runs without issues, I’ve got no complaints.」
「Krishna, huh…」
「Krishna, yeah…」
Both of them looked up at the ceiling, eyes going dead at exactly the same moment. Their gazes are completely hollow. Scary. I can almost see the vast expanse of space swirling behind them like a hallucination.
「Like… what is that thing, even…? A ship? Is it a ship? It’s a ship, right…?」
「I think it’s a ship… but I don’t know anymore what a ship is…?」
It’s a ship. Probably. I pour psionic energy into it, random parts sprout out, and its performance skyrockets—but it’s a ship. Definitely a ship. Probably. Maybe partly a ship. It doesn’t move on its own or eat anything, so yeah, let’s go with ‘ship’. It’s not a living creature… I think.
「Alright, both of you—just chill. Didn’t we get some fancy liquor from the Holy Empire? Crack that open and take a load off, alright?」
「Yeah! Let’s do that!」
「Let’s drink together, Big Brother!」
「Wait, no, I—hey, strong grip…!」
The two of them dragged me from the break room to the dining area, where some hedonist elf had already started drinking. Seriously? That was fast. You just went straight to drink the second you stepped back on the ship?
「Huh? Want some? There’s a full stock in the cellar.」
「Nee-san, you’re fast.」
「Even us dwarves are impressed by how fast.」
「Heh… when it comes to speed, I won’t lose to Hiro or Mei.」
With something vaguely resembling dried squid in her mouth, Elma gave a smug grin. During this visit to the Holy Empire, Elma evolved from a gorilla space elf into a super gorilla space elf.
Specifically, she picked up body enhancement techniques that apply psionic power. Her already-enhanced physical abilities were pushed even further. Of course, her body may be stronger, but it’s not tougher, so there’s still a limit to what she can do.
That said, she’s still strong enough to destroy a human being barehanded. If she got a grip on me, I’d be helpless. Honestly, I’m not even joking when I say she could probably rip off someone’s limbs or head with her bare hands. That’s terrifying.
「Hiro, you’re not thinking anything weird, are you?」
「IAMNOTTHINKINGANYTHING」
「You sound suspicious… whatever, sit down next to me.」
「Yes ma’am.」
When a drunken elf tells you to sit, you sit. Especially when said elf could casually snap your limbs without blinking. Best not to argue.
「So, you’re sitting there all spaced out, but have you made up your mind yet? I mean, we’re not getting married the moment we get back or anything, but we’re basically barreling toward it, yeah?」
Elma looped an arm around my shoulder and whispered in my ear with those half-lidded eyes of hers. Weirdly enough, despite being obviously drunk, she still somehow smells nice. What kind of magic is that?
「No point in panicking now, I guess.」
I really do love both Chris and Serena. Sure, it’s kinda nerve-wracking to be tying myself so closely to the Dareinwald and Holtz noble families, but I’ll have to find a way to make it work. Luckily, both Chris and Serena understand how I live and what kind of person I am.
「You might not be able to keep up the mercenary gig, you know?」
「That’s something I’ll work out with Chris and Serena. Neither of them expects me to manage estates, deal with politics, or play nice with other nobles. Not just them—everyone else knows that too.」
Let the people good at that sort of thing handle it. If anyone tried to make me do it, I’d just dump everything on Mei. Some of the Empire’s nobles still have issues with mechanical intelligences, but that doesn’t bother me.
「Still, if you’re gonna be their husband, you gotta do something for their families too.」
「Yeah, fair. But hey, if it really comes to it, I could just grab Chris and Serena and defect to the Holy Empire, right? Could make a living over there.」
「…The Earl and the Marquis would end in tears.」
「Heh, if crying’s all they do, I’ll consider myself lucky.」
I have this creeping feeling they’d send assassins after me or something. …Nah, even they wouldn’t go that far, right?
「Speaking of which, what about your dad—Eldmoore? Is he okay with all this?」
「He’s probably given up on me in more ways than one. My family still has my older brother and sister, so we’re good.」
「…You sure that’s fine?」
‘Totally’, she said, raising her glass again. While we talked, Tina and Wiska returned from the cellar—carrying giant bottles. Two of them. Seriously? One wasn’t enough?
「Alrigh’, let’s drink!」
「I brought snacks too!」
「Hiro, you’re drinking with us, right?」
「Just a little…」
At this point, resistance is futile. Sitting next to Elma already sealed my fate. There is no escaping. Because it’s Elma.
Now, let’s see what snacks Wiska brought… Looks like a bunch of stuff from the Holy Empire. Some kind of jarred food, some vacuum-packed stuff… no idea what any of it is. Gonna have to open them up and try them to know for sure.
「Hey! No fair! You’re about to eat something delicious!」
「Truly unfair, my Lord.」
「Drinking party, huh? Not fair. Count me in.」
「Looks like fun, Captain.」
As we deliberated over which snack to open, Mimi, Kugi, Dr. Shouko, and Neve all wandered into the dining area. Of course. Everyone ends up here eventually.
「You came at the perfect time. Kugi, which of these would go well with booze?」
「Let’s see… this one. It’s salted fish roe. I’ve heard it’s delicious when thinly sliced and lightly grilled. A delicacy.」
「Fish roe, huh… sounds fancy. Bet it costs a ton.」
Tina examined the vacuum-packed delicacy Kugi recommended. Salted roe, huh. Sounds like karasumi. In a world where even real meat costs an arm and a leg, a delicacy made with actual fish roe has gotta be insane.
「Sis, let’s just… not think about the price. This booze is probably ridiculously expensive too.」
「Fair point. Let’s slice it up.」
「Leave it to me.」
At some point, Mei had appeared beside us, took the vacuum pack from Tina, and started slicing it up with a knife she pulled from who-knows-where. No one questioned how or when she showed up. Because… it’s Mei.
「How are we gonna grill it?」
「For moments like this, I keep a portable cooking set in my room.」
「Go fetch it. Dash.」
「That’s tyranny!」
The hedonist elf demanded I go fetch it. The audacity. But hey, this is a rare chance for that waste-of-space of a cooking kit to shine. Guess I’m running.
「My Lord, allow me. Hup!」
With a cute little chant, Kugi summoned a small fireball in the middle of the table. Nice—psionic fireball.
「Elma, didn’t you used to do this too?」
「It’s exhausting. Kugi, you okay?」
「Yes, this much is no trouble. Ever since Tamamo-sama began possessing—err, partnering with me, I’ve had a much easier time using the First Spiritual Form.」
Kugi gave a sheepish smile while her now five tails swished behind her. They’ve definitely grown fluffier. But yeah, she totally just said ‘possessing’, didn’t she? She’s not wrong, though.
「Hiro-sama, this is delicious!」
Mimi tugged on my sleeve, eyes sparkling, as she munched on a grilled slice of the karasumi-like treat. Girl moves fast.
「Captain, everyone’s chilling here—shouldn’t someone be on guard just in case?」
「Don’t worry. Mei-kun’s got the ship fully under control, and we’re being escorted by the Holy Empire’s fleet. Right, Mei-kun?」
「Yes. Just as the Doctor said, there’s no problem at all.」
As she skewered the sliced delicacy, Mei nodded. With her processing power, she can manage the Black Lotus and still take care of all of us like this without breaking a sweat. Seriously, she’s amazing. We’re lucky to have her.
「Let’s just relax until we reach Imperial territory. Things’ll get busy again once we’re back.」
「Agreed. Here, Hiro-sama, this one’s perfectly grilled!」
「Thanks. Whoa, this is good.」
As I savored the delicious treat Mimi grilled for me, I couldn’t help but think about how hectic things were gonna get once we returned to the Grakkan Empire.

Guys, is the light novel much different than the web novel? (Wich one is better?)
Different? Sure. How much & which one better? IDK & it’s up to each person’s preference. I mean the manga chapters 45 up to 47-ish got different story/insert not available here on WN + I forgot which chapter, but definitely before the start of Space Dwerg/Black Lotus purchase, there’s a mentioned of the name/type of other ship that Hiro considered as contender for purchase while on the WN the Skibrazunil was already chosen
The translation on this site has the debate on what mother ship they were going to go with that listed 3 ships and manufacturers
Usually WN are often seen as draft and LN is more refined/polished. At least that how usually it goes.
The light novel generally follows the written novel, but with some inconsistencies fixed and some extra scenes that aren’t here in the WN. One example of this is Hiro did actually take princess Luciada out for an afternoon dressed in Mimi’s clothes so she could have a more civilian experience. At least, that’s what I was told by someone who claimed to have read the LN. Once I start earning some money and pay my debts off, I’ll be able to afford a better answer.
In general, the LN is more polished and the WN here is more comedy focused. While I love the comedy the WN provides, it’s hard to deny how great the LN is. Also its not as if there isn’t any comedy in the LN
The WN is often written as a draft, as a basic guideline to where and how the story is goes based off reader-feedback as we are essentially free critics. This may sound cheap but it has its uses.
LN spoilers ahead.
For example, if you recall, there was a second but brief tournament arc when Hiro visits the Elf homeworld. This was entirely removed from the LN.
Also, the arc where Hiro was hired during/for the frontier worlds where he interacts with the aliens, that was changed a bit also in the LN.
I’d say the LN is definitely worth it.
I buy all the released LN Volumes on Amazon as Paperback, and read the WN here.
LN is like a cleaned up version of a messy WN. They provide a better reading experience and a more cohesive plot. There is small detail differences here and there, but nothing big. While the manga are shortened and adapted to beter fit a visual media instead of text.
Since Ryuto is taking a break from this series for his other projects, I hope he has some say in the anime
I feel like between this and the last chapter we just skipped a whole lot of interesting stuff. I want to see how Kugi and Tamamo work together. We just went from Tamamo taking over to Kugi just being back in partial control suddenly.
While I’m not as curious about how Kugi and Tamamo work together, I do agree that it feels like a whole bunch of interesting stuff has been skipped. I would have liked to see more world building and tourism. And while I’m cool with Kugi never learning about her past—as much as I am curious about it—it would have been cool to see someone else who’s beginning that process, because there’s some things I’m unclear about. Is there an oracle that chooses people, or do random people get dreams that indicate their future and then they decide they want to embrace it? Or did Kugi have the dream about Hiro after her memory wipe and that oracle is part of what she is now? It’s unclear.
Kugi still has memories of her life before becoming kugi, she just doesn’t want to basically dig up what is essentially the corpse of her past self.
@theracr They explicitly told us that people like Kugi have their memory wiped in order to be able to fully devote themselves to the person they’re destined to be with. They just weren’t clear about what causes a person to start the path of becoming what Kugi is.
Chris is one thing, but for Serena…. after “find her annoying” for 14 volumes, I am surprised how Hiro managed to adjust his mindset to accept Serena so easily…..
BTW, with the Holy Emipre arc about to end, I would say:
1. Too bad Serena does not come along, her comments regarding Holy Empire’s unique weaponry, tactics and technology would be interesting.
2. Kohana shown up much earlier in the LN, wonder will Tammo process her (or Inaba the scribe) instead…….
3. Instead of cash, Hiro really should request a super mother-ship with all those unique Holy Empire weaponry and technologies. Man, those weapon will make crystals extermination like walking in the park, killing all crews but keep the pirate ship intact will make some extra cash too……
Hiro’s acceptance of Serena to me stems ultimately from his attitude of “Taking Responsibility” after having to deal with that Pirate Drug, but even before that he seems to be less and less hostile towards her advances as the Volumes progress. When the pair go to Edgeworld to deal with the Psychic Spiders they have a close moment or two, his primary hangup was always her family and the problems connecting himself to that would pose, I think if she had not been a Noble but just a really aggressive woman he would have hooked up with her sooner. Given how the Holtz, Daleinwald and Willrose Patriarchs have more or less given their blessing with regards to Hiro maintaining his freedom there’s no more issues there. What’s really going to be interesting is if Serena did end up pregnant from their last tryst before the Holy Empire Arc, same goes for Chris too honestly it wasn’t hinted at or stated as specifically as with Serena but the possibility exists.
The Trio (Kohana, Inaba, Moegi) might continue as full crew members once the LN gets to the Holy Empire Arc to keep watch on Tamamo who will probably stay fused to Kugi permanently or till she gets bored, I can’t really see Tamamo Posessing anybody else besides Kugi since they are the same Beastfolk Type after all.
I agree with you about the Super Mothership but that would add a significant number of people to the crew to properly power all the Psionic Systems unless of course they just Hybridize the Black Lotus and only add a half dozen to power up the Light Wings and Soul Crusher. I think the LN will just give Krishna the functionality to use Soul Crusher.
Couldn’t the psionic mothership just charge up off of hiro?
He always did consider Serena a beauty and a bit of a package, it’s just her responsibilities as a noble AND a military officer is what scared him away. It’s not until he got with her and her father fully approving him did he ease into tying the knot with her.
I think it’s pretty clear that the reason the Hero found Serena “annoying” was that he was very attracted to her but felt that once he had formed a relationship with her he would lose his freedom (much the same could be said about his relationship with Chris) now that he has so much status and money he no longer feels that these women will be able to control him so he is more open to having a relationship with them.
Cant wait for hiro to show off krishna in the empire

I would like to see what will happen the next time Hiro crosses paths with lucky looter Marie, will he turn her and her spaceship to space dust with his upgraded ship and now trained psionic skills, would Kugi (Tamamo) stop Hiro because like Hiro, she’s a person from a higher world, or lastly and least likely because she is a pirate, they become friends.
I can see Hiro using his Chakram Rings to decimate her fleet and cripple her ship from a distance, or better yet using his Teleport Launcher to just park a Reactive in her Cargo bay. A truly satisfying reunion though would be face to face as he Force Chokes her or hits her with that Unlimited Power Lightning
Iirc they punish evil one so maybe she will support Hiro to kill Marie
Dunno, but while being a person from another world like Hiro she doesn’t seem strong at all, doesn’t seem to have any perks like every other visitor
She spoke about having a unique weapon for her ship that isn’t found anywhere else. I suspect that was her relic. Also, Hiro is significantly stronger than other visitors, so I suspect some visitors are just weaker than most. I think Marie is one of those.
She might have never gotten a “kugi” to train her, Hiro got really strong now, but before he had rotten luck and his combat skills. Now he’s a walking nightmare from the W40K universe what when wrongly fubared with might take a solar system out or 2 in rage… and that pretty much happen since Kugi joined and the little intermezzo with an idiot from nobility.
Likely destroy her fleet and cripple her feet, and brought to the Imperial authorities because Tamamo convinces him to spare her

you’ll have to wait for the LN to catch up.. such minor errors only get corrected on the LN since the author got people to proofread and and editor would tells him about those fuckups.
Vol 13 and 14 probably wont even get translated to English until next year at the earliest Vol 15 will likely be The border crisis combined with the Engagements to Serena and Chris so that Vol 16 can focus only on the Holy Empire. I don’t expect to see either of those until 2027/28 in Japanese and probably 2030 for English who knows when the Anime will come out probably in 2030 as well
Vol 13 is set for a September 30 release date in the US. Vol 14 will likely be the beginning of 2026, but no set date yet.
