CHAPTER 2: Infiltrating the Enemy Territory

The Hongouin Clinic, which stood on the very outskirts of the city, was an exceptionally large private general hospital run by a famous local family of doctors whose ancestor was apparently a feudal doctor in the Edo period. The facility employed twenty five full-time doctors, twelve part-time doctors, eight interns at the current moment. It had about three hundred hospital rooms and could admit about five hundred patients at maximum. As for the grounds on which the hospital was located, they managed to reclaim and utilize the otherwise useless swampland that was allotted to the family during the Meiji Restoration period, one fourth of which was managed as the hospital’s grounds, with the other three fourth meant to be used as potential real estates grounds. It was good that he reclaimed the useless swamp that was allotted to him during the Meiji Restoration, and managed a quarter of it as a hospital and the rest as real estate. Because of that fact, the funds for the hospital’s operations were pretty abundant. The exterior of the new hospital building, which was said to have been built several decades ago, looked a little out of place, but the interior was bright and clean, and there were no signs of suspicious activity of any kind all over its premises.

Currently, two young nurses were walking together across those hallways, which smelled faintly of chemicals and disinfectant.

Both of them were wearing cherry-colored nurse uniforms that made their body lines stand out, and each time they took a step, their soft breasts would bounce and jiggle.

「You don’t have to be so frightened all the time, Sui. This time around we are just gathering information, nothing more.」

Mikoto, the red-haired, ponytailed nurse who was ahead of the two, looked back at Sui, who tended to be dragging behind her partner while looking slightly frightened, and smiled at her.

「Y-Yeah, I guess……」

Sui, who hesitates to answer right away, gently put her hand on her swaying chest, blushed slightly upon being reassured like that by Mikoto, and sped up her steps.

It was Rinko who pointed out that this hospital was highly suspicious.

It was not something a mere amateour could do, so it was naturally concluded that the mastermind here had to be a skilled spellcaster. Therefore, sending a single person alone was far too dangerous, so it was decided that two people would go there. However, from the current personnel of the Black Cat Extermination Brigade’s Branch Office, only four people could actively fight youmas: Yamato, Rinko, Sui and Mikoto. As for Takeru,since her wounds were yet to fully heal, there was no way that she could be considered as someone in condition to fight.

Also, this mission and location were poor fit for Yamato, who would be way too conspicuous there.

No matter how you wanted to look at him, he looked like a poster child of being healthy, so there would be no possible excuse for him to be present at the hospital’s grounds.

「Then how about this? I can give you a good whack with ‘Raikou’ and put you in the condition that will qualify you for being admitted to a hospital. How about that?」

「No, we cannot do that, nya! Since all of the women appearing in those videos have one thing in common: they were hospitalized at Hongouin Clinic at some point in time, it should be assumed that they had some sort of a spell or curse cast at them while they were there, nya. If we were to send a half-human, half-youma like Yamato there, the spell might not work on him, and his cover would be blown instantly. If that was to happen, our enemy might become wary that we are onto them and they might lay low or leave the town altogether before we will be able to gather any useful intel or deal with them altogether, nya.」

「—— And besides, are you even able to give someone a ‘little whack’ with ‘Raikou’ in the first place, Mikoto? You know, without going all out, like you usually do?」

「Since the wound would have to be so bad that you would need to be hospitalized, I thought it would be okay if I end up going for a ‘Killing you eighty percent to death’ rather than good old ‘Killing you half to death’……」

「Yeah, like, no! That’s not okay. Rejected! Idea rejected!」

It was for that very reason that Yamato was put off from the list of the active infiltrators.

The remaining three were Mikoto, Sui and Rinko, but since Rinko was a firm believer that huge breasts were her sworn enemies, she couldn’t possibly be paired up with any of the other girls, so in the end things ended up with Mikoto and Sui having to team up and infiltrate the hospital.

—— But for some reason, Sui’s steps seemed to be exceptionally heavy.

「…… Hm? What’s wrong, Sui? Is something the matter? Your cheeks are red, you know? Do you have a fever or something?」

When Mikoto mentioned that to Sui and asked her with a worried expression, Sui’s face became even more red in an instant. She then bowed down her head and apologized..

「U-Umm, this is, umm…… M-My chest…… it feels a little bit tight……」

「Huh? Seriously? That nurse uniform should be the same size as mine, right? But my chest feels rather alright…… H-Huh? N-No way! Could it be that…… your chest got even bigger again!?」

「W-W-Wait……! M-Mikoto-chan……!? Your voice is way too loud…… Ah!」

Seeing that there were some other nurses that appeared at the other end of the corridor, the two girls rushed into the hospital room beside them in an instant.

For the time being, the two of them were wearing some disguise ofuda talismans so that they would not be immediately found out by other staff members even if someone was to spot them from afar. But if they were to exchange more than sparse greetings or get into interactions with other nurses here, they would be found out immediately. The enemy seems to be a doctor, a nurse, or someone related to the hospital in some way, so it was better to not get too close to them if they could help it.

It also meant that the only way in which the two of them could possibly obtain information was from other patients.

And that was exactly why,

「U-Umm, h-hello there! H-How are you?」

Looking around the hospital room that they just entered, they noticed the wide-eyed and surprised patients. Mikoto then hurriedly shook off her own shock and tried to get in the role of a nurse. Beside her, Sui blushed heavily, her long hair swayed, and she gave a big bow.

「Huh? Ohh, are you perhaps some newcomers? Fresh on the job?」

「H-Huh……? Ahh, y-yeah! We are new here, and we are actually still in training, so I’m afraid that we can’t actually do any proper medical work, but I think we can talk to everyone to perhaps ease your boredom while you are staying with us here.」

「Ohhh, really now? That’s actually great. You have no idea just how boring it can get in a place like this.」

「Here’s a chair. Sit down, sit down, please.」

One of the patients here, who had a plaster cast on one of his legs, smiled at them and tried to arrange a pair of chairs for them to sit down on between the beds. But then all of a sudden, he seemed to have lost his balance and almost fell to the floor while letting a short ‘Ahh!’ from his mouth.

「Uwaah!? Are you okay!?」

Mikoto hurriedly rushed over to the patient’s side, while Sui lend him a hand and helped him regain his balance.

「Oh, geez! Nishida-san, see? You are always so careless!」

「See? That’s what you get for trying to act all cool and swag even though you are injured!」

The other patients who smiled wryly also gathered around the two girls and reached out to the fallen man to help him get up.
