“Ugh, it’s freezing! How much longer till we get there?!”
I’d lost count of how many times Haruna had whined that line. She had been grumbling nonstop, following right behind me.
Well, I wasn’t dressed that warmly either, just a hoodie over my shirt, and the mountain air was colder than expected, so I got it.
“Cold cold cold!”
Honestly, it was annoying. Complaining wasn’t going to change anything.
Maybe Tomonori agreed, because she spun around, hands raised. “Enough already! Just go home, then!”
That was rare. Tomonori actually snapping at someone.
Which was why Haruna froze, eyes wide, and she went silent.
Realizing the shift in mood, Tomonori’s face twisted with regret and she bowed her head.
“Ah, no. I mean. We’ll be there soon. Sorry.”
In the awkward atmostphere that followed, Haruna suddenly fidgeted.
“I-I need to pee.”
“There aren’t any bathrooms out here, you know?” Tomonori
