That night, Tomonori stayed over at my place.

In the living room—cleared out again for space—Haruna and Sera took turns guiding her, showing each step in detail.

“Okay, from the spinning toe hold to the inertial drift,” Haruna said. “Nice! Now, hit those five consecutive hairpin turns.”

No matter how many times she tried, Tomonori couldn’t quite get the turn right. But she refused to give up.

“Step harder, like you’re crushing Ayumu’s little toe,” Sera said. “Stronger! If you don’t, he’ll just make a gross face and walk away. Step like you’re going to pulverize them so badly that five years from now he’ll still remember it.”

Sera was really fired up, but the tears that came to my eyes weren’t tears of joy.
Hours went by with them repeating the same move. Thanks to Haruna’s relentless coaching, Tomonori finally nailed the turn.

“I did it! I did it,
