The Day the Floor Takes the Most Beating – Part 01

It was raining. Pouring, actually.

A boy stood alone without an umbrella, like a frog or a snail waiting for the rain to pass.

No one knew where his umbrella had gone, or why he was just standing there.

He simply stood still by himself. Or maybe he had been crouching.

The rain hid him like a curtain, or maybe like pixels.

I couldn’t tell where that was, or who the boy even was.

Then, a girl appeared before him. Or maybe it was another boy.

“You can… use… my umbrella.”

The rain drowned out the voice, but it was clear enough that someone was offering an umbrella.

What a kind girl… or boy? I couldn’t tell. The rain made it impossible to see.

The only thing I knew for sure was that they were smiling brightly.

Still dazed, I woke up. The bell signaling lunch break rang through
