Greek Legends Part 1

Izayoi: Alright, is everyone ready? Then let’s start the unraveling of the mystery of the Chief God’s Declaration by bringing up the legend of Perseus, starting from his birth.

Asterios: Inscription 1 says: 「In accordance with the Chief God’s Declaration, Perseus is declared to be the firstborn son of the Great Father Zeus」. This information is going to be one of the key ones needed to solve the mystery of the Chief God’s Declaration (Huh? Am I the only one feeling this uncomfortable with this?)

Asuka: 『Perseus』is the name of the very first Community that we fought against when we first came to Little Garden. Alma is going to tell you the lore that surrounds it.

Alma: Of course, Master. (*Puts on fake mustache)

Alma: Once upon a time, long, long ago, there was a man named Acrisios, the king of the city-state of Argos.

Suzuka: There was!

Nanami: There was!

Alma: There was indeed. The king had a daughter named Danae, but he wanted a son so that he could make him his heir, so he summoned a certain prophet so that he could tell him when his most-awaited son would be born.

Izayoi: Okay, following so far.

Alma: However, the prophet told him as such:「The king shall not have a legitimate son. On the contrary, the child born of his daughter Danae will be born under the star of the kingslayer!」What a shocking development that was!

Nanami: … Eh? Doesn’t that mean that he would be killed right after being born?

Alma: The embarrassed king locked Danae up in a 「completely isolated bronze chamber」. However, it was then that one of the Gods took pity on Danae, who was no longer allowed to come in contact with literally anyone. Yes, that God was none other than the Chief God Zeus.

Asterios: Chief God Zeus… (Huh? Am I really the only one who feels uncomfortable with all of this after all?)

Alma: The Chief God Zeus took pity on the king’s daughter Danae, who was forced to live her days in absolute solitude. That is how the two of them fell in love with one another… and the child that was born as a result of that love was none other then the future hero Perseus.

Izayoi: The story of what happened after that is pretty famous. Perseus went on to gather the three treasures and defeated Demon Lord Gorgon… or I guess Algol, as she was known in Little Garden… anyway, he went on to defeat her, but since that part of the story is not essential to us this time around, we can go ahead and skip it. What we want to focus on is the causal relationship between the Chief God’s Declaration and the birth of Perseus.

Alma: Fufu… do any of you have any concerns about the story so far?

Asuka: No need to worry about it, but it’s still too little information to make a decision.

Nanami: … Poor Danae. What happened to her after that?

Alma: After she gave birth to the child, the enraged king ordered to have them both put in a box which was the thrown out at sea.

Nanami: ! ! ! ? ! ? ? ! ?

Alma: Do not worry. Thanks to the grace of the Gods that they received both the child and his mother managed to survive, and later the grown-up Perseus returned to his homeland with his mother, where they lived happily ever after. The end.

Suzuka: Ooooh! Talk about a surprisingly good ending!

Izayoi: You think? Because I think that there is still more to the legend of Perseus than that.

Alma: Hou hou?

Izayoi: Alma, there’s something that I would like you to confirm. Danae, the king’s daughter was locked up in a 「completely isolated bronze chamber」, as in, a chamber that no one could go in or out of except for bringing her food, and she was constantly being monitored, right?

Alma: Umu, that is correct.

Izayoi: One more thing that we need to confirm: Inscription 3: 「Heracles has a 100% probability of existence under the prerequisite conditions.」. Heracles is a descendant of Perseus, right?

Alma: Umu. To be perfectly precise, Haracles is Perseus’s great grandson.

Izayoi: Yes, these two heroes are definitely related. But no matter what their exact genealogy was, it is certain that for every living being, its existence is going to end one day. Now, since Heracles has a 100% probability of existence, then it is probably safe to assume that Perseus’s probability of existence is also at 100%.

Asuka: Ara, so does that mean that the inscription 3 strengthens inscription 1?

Izayoi: It does. The important part here is the mystery of the Chief God’s Declaration itself. So rather than considering how great these heroes and their deeds were, we need to think about them in the category of their relation to the Chief God Zeus…

Izayoi: … but here’s the problem. According to what I heard from Tokuteru before, the condition for the probability of existence to be at 100% is that 「The existence is established regardless of the presence or absence of a Divine Spirit」. That condition is supposed to be absolute.

Suzuka: Eh? Then going by that logic, shouldn’t it be that the Demigods like Heracles and Perseus are never going to reach 100% probability of existence?

Izayoi: Yes, and that is exactly why in order to try to resolve that blatant contradiction, we need to consider inscription 2: 「The currently binding definition of Demigods was created by the Great Father Zeus in the Chief God’s Declaration.」
