A fleet of giant ships has arrived at the southeastern pier of the Lost Continent of Atlantis sometime before the first Gift Game of the 2nd War for the Sun’s Authority, {The Lost Atlantis} began. Thanks to the pinpoint accuracy of their navigation, the huge galleon fleet with the image of the golden sheep engraved into the material of their sails managed to survive both the treacherous currents of the sea and the raging stormy winds until it finally arrived at their intended destination.
The peculiar thing about the Lost Continent is that it has very turbulent air sea and air currents, all for the sake of keeping the potential intruders away from it. But even despite that, the entire fleet managed to sail through them in a straight line without encountering any major difficulties, which indicated that perhaps it was able to do so because of some special kind of protection. Any sailor worth their salt knew the name of the main ship of that fleet that travels bravely and unabashedly through the seas of the Little Garden, which are just as, if not even more treacherous than Little Garden’s mainland filled with all kinds of dangerous beings both godly and devilish.
The name of that ship is Aries, the mythical ship based on the famous vessel Argo, blessed by the constellation of Aries, one of the Sun Authorities that carried many-a-great Greek heroes upon its deck throughout many generations, but is perhaps the most famous thanks to the hero Jason and his Argonauts and their quest to retrieve the Golden Fleece. Originally it belonged to the Argonauts and later to the Community that adopted their name, but in the recent years it changed owners to 「The Demon Lord of the White Night」, which is to say, Shiroyasha, who changed its appearance so that it could fit a little bit more with her own personal tastes.
As for the rest of the ships from the fleet that was organized around Argo, they had their names given in according to the old tradition from Greek mythology that dictated that all the ships from that fleet were to inherit the names of the famous monsters that the original Argo has encountered during its many perilous sea voyages, and had been constructed with the use of the materials obtained from defeating said monsters, which allowed them to gain the level of divinity and divine protection thanks to which all of the ships in the fleet, which included the ones such as the one named after the multi-headed Scylla or Siren, the sea demoness with a bewitching voice were able to safely cross the seas even during the storms that would make even the most hard-boiled of sailors to shiver in their boots. As long as that majestic fleet stuck together, there was no sea monster that would be able to threaten their safe passages through the open seas.
Before they became one of the Organizers of the 2nd War for the Sun’s Authority, many of the members of Argo’s fleet were heroes who spend their days sailing wherever the winds would take them, sang songs and caused trouble every time they happened to land in one of the myriad of port towns along their way.
Or at least that is how it was in the past. Because as everyone should be aware of, every heroic tale is bound to end at one point or another. For the Argo and its fleet, that end came
Right now, when their paths have crossed with that of a super sea beast that emerged from the deepest darkness of the sea’s abyss. It was a giant shadow that disrupted the waves simply by standing still, and its enormous horns swept the entire fleet away as if all the ships in it were made of paper. Each and every one of its foul breaths was splitting the sea apart, its tail was longer than twenty keels and its rock-like fangs were biting through the wood and mystic materials the ships were made of with ease. That is right: one of the most famous ships in the entire Greek mythology and its fleet have been completely and utterly decimated with but a one attack from that super sea beast that was big enough to cast its shadow over the entire ocean, and that was it for them.
「. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Hmm, now this is what I would call an unexpected development.」
When he finally arrived at the site where the southeastern pier should be, he looked at the remains of the utterly wrecked fleet with steep eyes. Unfortunately, the damage has not been limited to just the Argo’s fleet. Due to the sudden attack’s scale, the alcohol brewery that was located near the shore was caught on fire and then exploded, turning the entire dock area into a living picture of fiery hell.
Watching the entire scene of the fleet’s destruction from atop a cliff located along the coast, Izayoi clenched his fists as he felt his body being filled with indignation towards the mysterious beast that was now disappearing beneath the still-roaring waves.
Because of the very nature of the Gift Games, it was nothing unusual for those participating in them to hurt one another, Izayoi understood that fact very well, but attacking and setting fire to the indigenous settlements that had nothing to do with the Gift Games. . . that was clearly an overkill, in more ways than one. If the Organizers are going to allow for such indiscriminately destructive behaviors without punishing those who have committed them in any meaningful way, then what is even the meaning of this proxy war they are all fighting in? That war, what is it good for?
Izayoi would never consider himself to me a merciful person, but even someone like him, who wanted nothing more from life than to fight against opponents strong enough to properly entertain him understood one of the very basics of warfare: that the two sides engaged in conflict should always refrain from dragging innocent people into it. But here, that important rule has obviously been ignored, which could only mean one thing:
「Haa. . . looks like we have ourselves some third party intruding upon the War, huh?」
At the very least, it does not look like the {Guest Master Authority} has been used here. If it was used, the scale of destruction would be immeasurably greater. At the same time, it also did not look like a part of the official competition either. No, this place has fallen victim to nothing more but a barbaric display of senseless violence from someone who was not directly related to the 2nd War for the Sun’s Authority. And as far as Izayoi was concerned, if the Players participating in the Gift Games did not have the minimum amount of pride required to follow the rules without shitting all over them. . . then they did not have the right to participate in the Game at all. There is only one thing that has to done with scum like that.
He jumped down the cliff while clenching his fists really hard. First of all, if he really wants to bring this chaos under control, then the source of the spreading fire has to be dealt with immediately.
Landing on the beach next to the burning village, Izayoi rushed towards the alcohol brewery, which was the source of the spreading fire.
「Alright, let’s do this shit! And a one. . and a two. . . and a. . . THREE!!!」
And with that last shout he kicked the surface of the water, sending a massive wave of it towards the burning brewery. While spilling the water everywhere and creating a miniature rainfall, it went straight ahead and swallowed all of the fire, putting it up in the blink of an eye. Oh, and by the way, all of the nearby buildings have been washed away without a trace as well, because Izayoi did not do anything to restrain the power of his kick at all, but in this particular scenario no one should be holding that up against him. After all, destroying the nearby buildings was one of the most classic and effective ways of preventing fires from spreading.
That is why Izayoi concluded that the best thing he could do right now would be to kill two birds with one stone, and that is why he chose to flood half of the village. By using the water from the ocean, not only he managed to put out the existing fire, but he also removed everything that could have caught that fire and spread it further. As for the burning ships from the Aries fleet that were still in the water. . . well, there was no need for him to worry about them, because they will soon sink by themselves without causing harm to anyone on the shore.
