Last Embryo Volume 4 Interlude 2 Part 2

Everyone gathered in the cove at the moment could clearly see the voice that was speaking from beyond the raging gusts of black wind, but they were unable to see the even the slightest shadow of the silhouette of the person that this voice belonged to. While he gazed in the direction of the voice with his hists clenched in quiet determination, Heracles sharpened all of his senses to the maximum.

「Fine then. If my associates are not willing to deliver you the truth exactly as it is, without trying to hide anything or sugarcoat any controversial details, then I will be the one to gladly explain everything to you. Putting it as simply as possible: the two Albino girls that are presently here on the Lost Continent of Atlantis are necessary in order to save humanity. To put it even more simply: they are to be sacrificed in order to save humanity.

「Sacrificed?!」

「If those girls will not die for the purpose of speeding the process of research of the Star Particle Bodies, it will not be possible to develop their true form I time to stop the cataclysmic eruption from occurring. Therefore, theirs will be a necessary sacrifice that will ensure the survival of the entire world, and with it, the human race.」

「Wha. . . . A-Are you out of your mind?!」

Heracles raised his voice and screamed at Krishna. He did not know anything about this. . . Star Particle Bodies research or whatever, but because the man who called himself Krishna was using simple words, he was able to understood everything else he was talking about. And what he was talking about was that he does not need the Albino girls to be alive. He only needs their corpses so that he could turn them into materials for that research thing of his.

「Do. . . do you really think that such an evil research, the one the requires you to sacrifice the lives of two innocent girls. . . can something like that really save the world. . . . . . . . . . .?!!!」

「Yes, of course it can. It will be an act necessary for the revival of {Absolute Evil}, and a ritual that will become one of his supporting pillars. Their sacrifice will lead humanity to salvation, and at the same time it will give birth to a bud that will grow to destroy it one day.」

When Heracles head Krishna talking about such horrendous things with such a cool voice, he got so angry at him that he thought that his body grew several times larger due to all the indignation that was building up inside of him. Even his flaxen hair, which were reminiscent of a lion’s mane, stood upright due to his immense anger. The rupturing of the Aorta of the Star. In various mythologies, it is not entirely uncommon for them to die in the flames of volcanic eruptions only for the new mythology to be born out of them. They are quite literally the crystallization of the biggest and worst of natural disasters that the world has ever seen. Going against such an unstoppable force would mean a complete break between the human and mythological world.

But even if it could be done. . . even if such a disasterous force could be stopped with the sacrifice of the lives of two human girls. . . if such a feat required such an awful sacrifice to be made. . . then what was the evolution of human ethics for? What was all the knowledge and experiences that humans went through over the years for?

And what about everything that Little Garden had to sacrifice? What about its struggle with {Absolute Evil} who wanted to destroy humanity, what about them overcoming the {Closed-off World} who wished to return the world’s trajectory to nothing, and what about it preventing the manifestation of {Winds of Decay}?

「. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 」

As someone who originally lived in the past, he should not be involving himself with the matters of the future out of his own volition. However, no matter what kind of irregularity might happen because of it, the lives of those two girls are definitely within his reach.

The last of the Poets who defeated the Demon Lord Dystopia died in the Outer World. Then, as one of her teachers, it is his responsibility to protect the girls who were experimented on. He has to determine who is good and who is evil here by judging them all with his own eyes. However, the moment he wanted to turn around and leave the cove, a gust of black wind blocked his advance.
「And where do you think you are going, hmm, Heracles?」

「I am withdrawing my previous declaration of joining {Uroboros} and going to meet those fated ones.」

「What utterly irresponsible words. Fate is something that happens as a result of the accumulation of events that led to it. Our roles in it are now over, and the fate of the future has been entrusted to the humans living in the current era. Was it not you yourself who said that you are nothing but a relic of the past right now?」

「Indeed, I was the one who said that. However, the history that occurs in this Little Garden is a property shared by all of its residents. We have been summoned here because of the fates that our histories have brought us to, and that is why I have every right to get myself involved in what is going on here.」

Spitting those words at Krishna, Heracles turned his back once again. The man who was absent during the Dystopian War was now clenching his fists as seriously like never before. If what that man was telling him is true, then there are people who wish for those girls to die. And not just any people. The entire world and the Gods who lived in it.

Without a mother, without a father, with no other relatives in the world. Born and raised in a facility where they were not even treated as human beings, they were now sentenced to death because their sacrifice is supposed to save the world. There is no hero in the world who would not be angered after hearing such things being spoken right in front of him.

He might not be able to protect them against each and every threat going after them. However, someone has to stand up. Someone has to take up their fist and strike against the cruelty of their fate. If he will not do that. . . then that will not be enough to repay those young ones for even the fraction of what they had to go through.

「You there, mysterious man. You bend your head and knee to fate and suck up to it. I am sorry, but I have seen enough of it in the Outer World. I now know all too well that the fate of a man who failed to raise his fists against fate can only be a miserable one. I do not believe my mission now to be about changing the past. My mission now is to not allow the humanity of the current era to repeat the same mistakes and wallow in the same regrets that I did!」

The fools learn from experience, and the wise man learn from the history of the fool’s experiences. The hero known as Heracles may very well be a fool, but at the very least, let the fury of his fists and his enraged gaze become the beacons that will make those in the future that much more wise!

「. . . I see. Well, that is a shame.」

Krishna’s voice was quiet, but obviously disappointed. But his disappointment looked like it was truly genuine. Heracles, the strongest Demigod of the Greek mythology. An undeniable hero who achieved many great things, both in his life and in Little Garden. The man was disappointed that such an outstanding man refused to accept his invitation to become his ally.

「In that case, it is okay for me to treat you as an enemy of the world and humanity. . . right?」

For a brief moment, the man’s voice changed to a chillingly cold and ruthless one filled with a crushing amount of killing intent as the black wind began to wrap itself around Heracles. He reflexively swung his fists at it to make it dissipate, but despite his best attempts, it was not letting go.

「YOU BASTARD. . . !!!」
「Rest assured, I will not be taking your life. However, since I am in a situation where I am sealed by Kalki without the ability to move on my own, I will be borrowing that body of yours for a while.」

「Over my dead body! You really think I am going to. . . allow you to take. . . it. . . ghaaaa?!!!」

The black wind has swallowed Heracles whole, and the depth of the darkness he found himself in amazed him. Until now, he has been cursed and despised by monsters, Gods and Giants in both the Outer World and Little Garden, but this darkness was far stronger than any of them combined. It was stronger and more sinister than what any ordinary God or deity could handle. Currently, Heracles was in possession of three Sun Authorities, which made his stronger than any human or even some of the naturally born Divine Spirits. Is there nothing he could do against this black wind?

「Oh? So, you have three of the Sun Authorities on you? How wonderful. With these, {Uroboros’} victory in this Gift Game will be all but assured.」

Heracles’s consciousness, which was about to disappear got brought back with that one remark.

Two of the three Sun Authorities he currently has were given to him by Shiroyasha. It was a proof of her trust, as well as her way of her way of awarding his achievements as one of the Organizers of the 2nd War for the Sun’s Authority, and her personal way of guiding him. Such a wonderful gift should never be allowed to be stolen in such a cowardly way. Steeling his resolve, Heracles shouted with all his might:
「I will leave the rest to you. Now GO!!!」

Suddenly, the wreckage of 「Aries」, the Argo fleet’s main ship which was still out at the sea transformed itself into a giant sheep. The golden sheep that carried two other Sun Authorities with it let out a magnificent voice and then soared up into the sea of stars on the fastness high above before it disappeared. The owner of the black wind sighed deeply, surprised at this sudden development.

「Hmm, interesting. . . ah, yes, I forgot. Argo was build with the wood from the sacred tree which was imbued with the power of Aries, which is a Sun Authority that possesses its own will and can therefore act autonomously, just like Capricorn.」

「Khh!!! We failed to notice that fast enough!」

「It is okay, I do not mind. Being able to borrow Heracles’ body is more than enough of a reward for me.」

That was the last voice that reached Heracles’ adult ears. When the black wind that surrounded him finally cleared up, the only one who was left there. . . was the hero who became a young boy after setting his Sun Authorities free.
